Best Phone Call Poems
so last night I was just sittin there, right?
and outta nowhere this huge, like,
demonic-millipede devil-thing
was right there on my computer desk, like wriggling towards me -
- ...well not nearly as bad as YOUR desk always was - oh my!
that thing was a pile of travesty!
- yeah yeah. anyway,
the thing about it was how random it was,
ya know, like, both of us were just doin’ our own thing,
then BAM!,
we were staring at each other.
- I just sat there really still.
I wanted a peaceful resolution to the whole thing-
- ...but yeah, I guess I knew that wasn't going to happen.
So at some point it just freaked out,
weaving around the dishes
and papers or whatever.
So I waited for a clear shot
and when it was near the side-edge, near the book-
- yep, your old bookcase,
which, I might add, you NEVER USED…
- so ok, I eyed it up, ya know,
built my courage, slipper in hand,
and when I attacked
it was a direct hit
and this thing just went nuts,
like spazzed out, twisting around on itself
and, get this, it actually JUMPED across the gap and went somewhere in there...
- I know! and I was NOT about to go poking around
for some vengeful godzilla bug!
melt me with laser eyes or something…
- …but, yeah, isn’t that just a horrible feeling? like,
is it still out there?
is it alive?
it's gonna come and get me when I'm sleeping or something, ugh.
- …but the thing is, ya know, devil bug or not,
I actually hope that it didn’t suffer.
- …Yeah, I mean, did it deserve it? No.
It was just this unfortunate situation that neither of us could control.
- ...you know what it reminded me of when it jumped?
remember those mathematical knots we were so into? - ...
…yes. Before you left.
Ello, Gwammy,
Yea, saw the wain, Gwammy,
Big dwops fallin’ on the soil.
Dwopped fwom clouds.
Aunt Jan was angwy.
Said I get wet.
But I took her bwolly,
The one with the paint on it.
Big bwolly so I no get wet.
Went on the bench to see better.
The soil got wet.
Aunt Jan called me,
But I want to see the gwass gwo.
The wain will make the gwass gwo
And I can play there.
But it gwo a lot, only
Can’t play in gwass. Much wain.
From the bench I saw lovely colows.
Aunt Jan said it’s a wainbow.
Don’t know. But you know, Gwammy,
I saw mamma on the wainbow.
She smiled and sent me a kiss.
I want to see the wainbow again.
But no wain now.
When you come
Bwing me cake with a hole.
I lowe it. I lowe you too, gwammy.
Must go.
Bye, Gwammy.
Phantom Phone Call
All Hallows Eve quickly approaches
With tales of crypts and ghostly coaches
When haunting spirits again roam
To sounds of chains and dirges of moans.
Amid this eerie spine-chilling time
Beloved mother prepares to die
Fragile link between Heaven and earth
Suddenly splits in her rebirth.
One final breath, one final sigh,
One final smile from her blue eyes
Now at midnight her spirit takes flight
Traveling light through darkest midnight.
The battle over – sweet warrior at rest
Home phone rings jarring mourning expressed
Familiar voice heard on the line – no trick -
“Child, this is your mother!” Click…

The story is true story although timeframe has been altered. After mom died our home phone rang. It was past midnight. The voice on the other end of the line was mom’s voice. The call untraceable.
Rhymes checked with RhymeZone
When feeling lost, you know what to do
The heavenly stars
warmly wink, like my eyes
to guide you
On the road you’ve taken, I let leaves tango
with the wind, so you’ll perceive my presence
And, the cicadas chant
with the river of hope. Their song’s my voice
to give comfort
Hey, the stars want you to look at them
so they can snap a picture of you
When the night is heavy
they uplift the body from despair, for the soul
to soar, like eagle, free
My child, know that I love you
Ring ring I called to Jesus
He picked the phone and called my name
I have some questions I said
go ahead and ask, he said.
Why isn’t Christmas celebrated everyday?
Why can’t I get presents as often as possible?
Why did you choose December for such moment of bliss?
He answered with a gentle smile.
I have made you the never fading hope
the crown which you’ll glory in my presence
I’ve filled your heart with Joy and gladness
as often as you let me
my grace for you is abundant
which is renewed every morning
and my love for you is endless and never bounded by time
and yet you only celebrate me once in a year?
Oh lord forgive me- I weep
how can I celebrate you everyday?
He said- Purify your heart
and be clothed with a constantly renewed mind.
This is the perfect Gift I seek.
Oh Lord my God!
my heart is all yours now and forever more.
merry Christmas to me……………
merry Christmas to the world.
Ring...Ring
me) That's a strange area code....Yello!
God) Hello
me) Hello, who is this?
God) It's me God, don't you recognize my voice?
me) No...
God) Hmmm...that's what I thought.
me) What do you mean by...never mind, I was just getting ready to call you!
God) Ah hello it's me....God?
me) Oh yea, I guess there's no fooling you there.
God) Not really but don't think that people don't try! Haven't seen you around in a while...
me) Well you know I'm always thinking about you...most of the time. And I listen to Christian music...some of the time. Oh and I try to read inspirational books...when I have time.
God) Isn't that nice...Hey, how are the knees holding out?
me) My knees?
God) Yes your knees or more to the point...your prayer life.
me) My prayer life? Didn't I mention I'm always thinking...
God) Yea I got that, it's just the way things have been going lately I know your worried.
me) Your not kidding there!
God) Well that's why I called, to remind you I'm still in control and everything is going to work out according to my will. You do believe that don't you?
me) Yes I believe that.
God) Then you might want to start acting like it. With all that's going on around you these days you seem to have left me out.
me) You know your right!
God) Duh...I'm God!
me) Oh yeah...
God) Hey here's a novel idea (please excuse the pun) instead of reading an inspiring book try reading THE inspired book...My Holy Word. Every thing you need in life is there.
me) That IS a novel idea! (did you say something about a pun) Thanks I'm feeling better. Hey I gotta go there's someone at the door. Can I call you later?
God) Of course...I'm always here.
I know this is not a poem...
What can I say...it's here
A lonely young girl from Rome
Talked all day on the phone,
She wanted a friend
To put her boredom to end,
That night she wasn't alone.
There was a girl named Caledonia
Who would often state, I will phone ya
She met a man called Fred
Who did ring her instead
And she simply said, guess I owe ya
Author's Comments :
Fred knew his line was not dead so he called around to see what Miss Caledonia was
putting down...

Phone rings
I will miss you, will you miss me?
No
No? But I may never see you again
(Feelings too young to understand
My ears grew hot
My face grew hot
My stomach twists
Frustration? Guilt? Probably guilt
I think it was guilt
No. Fear. Most likely fear)
I will miss you
Lies
You are a liar.
You are a liar, Father
You are a liar.
And now I am a liar too.
¿Por qué mis sueños se rompen?
Is it your fault
I think it was your fault
Maybe mine
Or was it hers
His, hers, mine, yours, its
What possession is to blame?
I blame, I blame, I blame
Where are you?
What are you doing?
I will stalk no more
I will stalk no more
I will stalk no more
But I want to know if you are alive
Are you alive?
No hay nada más difícil que vivir sin ti
Pero no puedo recordarte y soy muerto
I am not bilingual
I am not
Did I grow?
Was I supposed to grow?
I sometimes dream that I can fly
The winds carry me through
But sometimes, I forget how to land
With the ground far below my feet
Everyone left behind
I fear that I will drift
Too high
Where it’s cold
And I can no longer breath
And then I awake
I am one
I am one
I am two
Sometimes with a smile
But mostly with fear
Anxiety and one
Is it my fault?
Is it my fault?
Is it my fault?
Do I let you do what you do
Did and will do
Me gustaría conocerte
Mi corazón, mi corazón daña
Follow me
Follow me
But keep a foot away
I do not trust you
I trust too much
I never trusted
They will find out
All of them
They will know
Will they love you still?
Will they love me?
Stop stop stop
stop stop
Why did you stop?
What did I do?
¿Hacer a quién?
Put down the phone
Read me as you will
Read me
Read me
You are done
As are these lines.
You called to share you miss your family.
Crying, you choked that you wanna come home,
want home to be more than just fantasy
and wish to end your long bi-polar roam.
I know you’ve no address or even comb,
so, say, are your words styrofoam or chrome?
Brother, you’ve pressed my sibling love button,
so well-worn from emotional pressing.
I am not a dysfunction scene glutton,
but how I now hope your call’s a blessing!
Ten years have my bro-miss feel progressing.
God help me, I want what you’re expressing.
Many are the miles separating us,
but no state-count can break our sibling chain.
You talk of making can cash for a bus,
then share problems with liver, heart and brain,
say you’re hospitalized and termed insane.
My own tears swell with new hope and old pain.
Hold tight Bro, I will drive straight on to you,
cherish you, share all we knew and loved thru.

“Sir, Sir, why are you smiling, so happy and glad,
If you do not mind to answer my simple query,
Please teach me how to be urbane and merry,
I am so tired to be labeled as gauche or mad:
It is so scary to look at the moon and feel sad!
The days are so long and the nights too dreary
The comedies too silly, the dramas too eerie,
Who would guess that a Romantic soul is bad?”
“But my dear friend, there is no secret at all,
No mystery in the rainbow for you to find
Unless you look inside your own good mind:
I have just answered a surprising phone call:
It was not Calypso or a holy archangel above,
No, it was just the voice of the woman I love.”
A phone call to Heaven.
Ring, ring, Hello God, I'd like to talk to my mother please."
Why? Who is she?
Well, God, She is the one who gave me birth.
Who raised me when I was little. She is the one who had all the answers when I
needed them.
She is the guy who stayed by my side when I was sick.
Well, God, she is the one that cried when I went to school the very first day.
She was here to pull those off that fought with me.
She was the for the high school years.
To see us walks the halls with our former love.
Also, God, she came to see us marry the love of our lives.
She liked to see the first and all her grandchildren to be born.
AS proud as she could be!
She was still there when we needed her.
So God, wonders if you know who she is
I know I do! And what you try to me to tell her?
Well God.
I ask you to thank her for being our mother.
And though she is not here. We all love and miss persons her.
Say to her that things are fine and not to worry.
That she did a great job. And to face all of us.
Can you do that?
Why sure I Can For You. She Is Great To Me

If things aren't going well,
You know I'm there for you.
Need not to even ask.
A short phone call and I'm
Friend equal to the task.
I'm waiting just to go
Sailing away with you.,
Right into pleasant sea,
Behind you all the way
Like a good friend should be.
A time-out surely will
Bridge over your woes and
Over all sad memories.
Troubled no more, you're on
Waters of calm seas.
I want so much to help.
Will you not let me bring
Ease to your worried mind?
Your pain will leave when you
Mind over matter find.
The dreadful phone call came, “we have bad news”.
Somehow I already knew, but the words screamed in my mind.
“You have cancer”, and an aggressive kind.
For the first time, I yelled at God, threw things across a porch.
I had been through too much trauma as it was, from earlier years.
They had just removed a tumor, now wanted to remove more.
I hadn’t even recovered and they were in a rush to save my life.
It is a long story, as I battled with doctors with life spinning.
I was calling everyone I knew, to thank them, as I could.
I believed the doctors that I didn’t have much chance to live.
All other worries in life dissipated in a heartbeat, none of that mattered.
I ran to the health food store in desperation to buy Mangosteen juice.
They pushed the major surgery as I took months to decide.
They thought I was crazy, gambling with my life in such a way.
I kept drinking that juice, seeking 2nd opinions, being yelled at by doctors.
They insisted after surgery would be chemotherapy which I denied.
They refused to do this second surgery only for investigative purpose.
When I finally had that second surgery, it was me who turned out to be right.
The rest of the biopsies were clear as I had overcome doctors and science!
Faith returned as I realized God had brought me a miracle fully unexplainable.
They still wanted to do chemotherapy, so I raced to transfer out of state.
Where they agreed with me not to, almost 10 years later, here I am alive.

“Roses Are Red Violets Are Blue, I Thought You Loved Me, But I Guess Thats Not True”
We had a fight one day-and then you were gone
It’s your natural instinct to just go and run
You didn't come back for 90 days
And when you did our lives were changed
We both had been dumb and got with someone
Mine ended with anger and yours with shame
We both then decided to quit that game.
We worked through our problems
And again became one.
Against the world we fought everyone.
Life became simple, happy and fun
I knew why id choose you over everyone
But then one day my phone did ring
And all of a sudden the birds did not sing.
“I'm the girl who broke your heart…now where do I begin to start,
Me and your man we were in love, but then he left me when things got tough,
Alone he left me just like you, no reason given on why we were through,
I knew he must have gone back to you”.
To that I just could not reply,
So down I sat with a sigh.
“Why did you call me, what do you want”
The girl on the phone began to shout
But before she could answer- a cry could be heard…….
A cry so loud my head did swirl…
The phone went dead, and nothing was said
But then out of nowhere what do I hear…..
A voice that had begun to tear…
“I’m sorry that I ruined your life,
I know that you are his wife,
But now in your life I must stay,
And I can never ever go away,
For yesterday our lives were changed,
Through all the wrongs a right was made.
So I’m ringing to tell you,
I’m sorry to say
Yesterday was his newborn baby girl’s birthday”.
