Premium Member Song of The Peacock Butterfly No 6: AABB

Assures their breed a place among unknowns,
lest Europe and Asia part of their realms.
Peacock Butterfly, hues-full Inachis,
their uppermost topsides reveal truth bids,
yet undersides are black-like camouflage,
predators amiss, perplexed by mirage,
afears further by fake four eyes on wings,
and hissing sounds. The flower's nectar brings
life spans. They're killed whilst hibernating by
wood mice, and birds like Tit birds when they fly.
Folklore's namesake, Hera's Priestess Io,
eyed by Zeus, held by Hera as a cow.
A year's crawl and sleep, another takes flight,
climbing ivy draws and flowers, delight.

The Memories of a Dancing Peacock

The Memories of a Dancing Peacock
( Based on a true incident captured in my Camera )

I was in a mood to sing, and

The Peacock was in a mood to dance,

My singing came, while watching the beauty and

The beauty started unfolding its wings and charms,

As if the Peacock was listening the songs,

I was singing, silently in my mind.

Oh, what a joy it was to feel and share,

Those wonderful moments

I spent with that beautiful bird,

Who kept dancing and dancing,

Till the song continued in my mind silently.

You and I may not be dancing or living forever, O, bird,

But the image, which you have engraved on my mind and

The rhythms of that joy and pleasure,

Which you have left,

Would continue to generate always,

The music of silence and beauty in every mind.

My heart dances like a Peacock,

                                     When I hear your voice!
                                        It emerges from far,
Brings the tempestuous ocean to me,
Brings the soaring mountains to me,
Reminding me of the long arduous path
                                            I have to walk,
                                             To reach you!

Still it dances like a Peacock!

                                   My heart starts waltzing
The moment I hear your voice!
My heart starts trembling with a mysterious exhilaration,
                          Quivering with an unfathomable elation,
And a peacock within me starts dancing

                                            In the rain!

The rain shivers me, shudders me,
                             Almost whirls me away,
                                       To a land,
Where I will walk on a path
strewn with golden and tangerine fall leaves,
admire a koel and sing her
mellifluous rhapsody with my voice uninhibited,

gambol and frolic to the sonata,
dream endless dreams with the cadence
of a humming stream, with uneven pebbles

but not quaver for a moment!

Where dreams are not splintered into fragments!

The Peacock And The Owl

The peacock and the owl
                            had met along the way
One might not think at all
                  they’d have something to say

The peacock, lush in plume
did prance for all to see
The owl said with a hoot
I’ll stay here in my tree

From where I sit, you silly thing
                         Your feathers do distract
The owl said as the peacock fumed
                You’re wrong, and that’s a fact

It is my dress of fancy hue
                        that calls to creatures all
And yes, they come from far and wide
                           No matter big or small

You think you are so wise
                       With your surprise attack
If not for me, the peacock said
You might not find a snack

They got to thinking, maybe
             They should work together here
The owl could see exactly where
                    The peacock should appear

With that, this most unlikely pair
                           Began to set up house
To seal their brand new partnership
                  They shared a tasty mouse!!

(You see, we all CAN get along)

My son Scottie and me

Are like two peas in a pod

The word “clone” certainly comes to mind

His humour is the same

His carefree look at life matches mine

There is no mistaking Scottie boy is my son

He's also inherited my creative genes

Following in his Daddy's footsteps

A techie version of his old man

Did I mention I'm proud of my Scottie

Does a bear poop in the woods

Of course I'm proud as a peacock

I love this boy!

He's now in his late forties

But he will always be my boy!

HERE'S THE STORY SINCE THIS IS based on a true story! LOL I was in the woods
singing...pretending I could sing opera while resting on a bench...all by myself. And what to
my wondering eyes should appear walking around with my free range chickens? You
guessed it! A peacock! He must have thought I was a peahen. Later, we found out he
lived several miles away and had left home for few days...he stayed here until I left for
Texas, which was about 3 days. He must have loved my voice! OR RUNNING THE ROOSTER!
lol Anyway, that was the inspiration for this haiku! Would anyone have guessed? lol

Peacock---Visual 2

He strides
In jeweled plumes,
Flaunting majestic tail
To court a maiden of his dream,
and reel!
