My mind drifts back
To red times we've had
Healing happy lime laughs
Revealing shining over anything sad

Magical how one word from you
Colors me whatever you choose
From lamenting lemon to maroon
All based on love so true

You are my favorite song
I sing you all day night long
U write me pink passionate poems
Invite me to dream along

We don't have much in hand
But rich in heart with romance
By time design holding hand
Spirit so cheery we freelance

No bars no cars only white stars
Can showcase our love bizarre
We cruise like cotton clouds so vast
Upon our lovely lime lily pad

Eyes still closed ...
          Our sated mouths slowly parted,
And what was once cold and unyielding in my palm,
Now stood, blooming as the softness of warm lips ...

Exquisite bows of pink, supple sublimity.
Our eyes opened, and met, knowing ...
Where to first? I asked her ...
She crimped a tiny smile with her lip edges -

The rain, she answered, eyes giggling ...
          Where else, silly boy?!?
                    A hesitation and backward glance,
(To make sure I would follow), then ...

She leapt out into the weeping eventide ...
A brief rest in the wedge of light under a streetlamp,
Then she raised her arms and twirled on one foot -
                              Flawlessly en retire' ...

No longer gangling and squat, but elegant and shapely -
A swan, caught in a sultry summer shower ...
Birthed of one true and faithful kiss,
                              Now ... my princess.

Children gather at the park
Dressed in swim suits
Wearing water shoes
Ready for the splash pad
Excited to run through
Excited to run through
The water that squrt out
Enjoying, running
Getting wet cooling

Blood On the Pad

for the peace I hope to gain in the future there's a lot of Pain i need to remove from my past
I used to be ashamed of my scars, but I'm now proud of my dents and bruises from when I crashed
All I ever wanted as a kid was a hug from my dad
I never received that, so I promised to myself I would always leave blood on the pad

We all have different ways of dealing with pain
Have you ever been so numb, that you can walk through a storm and not end up feeling the rain?
Ever had a girl want to see you grow when you're unwilling to change?
Ever thought you were over something just to end up feeling it again?

It's easy to carry on while carrying a carry-on, but eventually it turns to baggage and becomes heavy
Which makes it easier to fall especially when you were already unsteady
People love to see you fall as this world lacks empathy
Thankful that I'm getting to be strong minded as I'm packed mentally

But I won't lie, my mind has been elsewhere recently
I've been nursing others and forgetting about self care recently
I've been living reckless and haven't felt scared recently
Questioning why I've been helping others who haven't been providing help here equally

People who kicked me while I was down expected me to help them up
People who would laugh as I would self destruct
She fell in love with this poet just to say actions speak louder than words
and got mad that I rarely open up in person, but will put it all in a verse

I'm slowly realising that you can't please everyone so I'm done trying
I'm not asking for your shoulder, so you don't need to know why I'm crying
I'm starting to take the good from the bad
my pen is a sword so I just left blood on this pad

Premium Member A Big Frog and a Little Frog Seek a Lily Pad

(a rhyming fable in haiku syllable count)

In a little pond
a big frog and a small frog
both sit on a log.

That log is then seen
by a little boy at play
who takes it away.

Left without their log,
both frogs spy a lily pad;
the big frog is bad. . .

Though the pad is small -
onto it the big frog hops.
The small pad drops!

Into the small pond
disappears the little pad.
The big frog gets sad.

He just swims away.
Now the small frog seeks a pad.
He is hopping mad!

From one lily pad
to another goes that frog
who has lost his log.

Never giving up,
the little frog starts to think. . .
Which pad will not sink?

Small ones are no good.
They sink like the Titanic.
I need gigantic!

Having found one large,
now the frog itty bitty
is sitting pretty!

And the moral is “Better to be a small frog rather than a big frog in a little pond” Or “Don’t get sad, get hopping mad!”

Lily Pad Bliss

It’s wrong to judge people by appearance
So when he approached me with that grimace
I tried to see what’s inside
Perhaps a sweet prince did hide
Behind scaly green skin on the surface

He offered his lips, I felt revolted
And through the door I just might have bolted
If I had not made a vow
To be less judgmental now
So we kissed and my heartstrings he jolted

Such heaven we found on his lily pad
Till he turned into a horny-toad cad
Now my mouth is filled with warts
And no more bliss he transports
I just look at him and shout out “Egad!”

Sometimes a book’s cover shows what’s within
And I’ve surely learned much to my chagrin
This frog will not be a prince
When I look at him I wince
And just belt down a few chugs of sloe gin

This entry for the happily ever after contest is based on the fairy tale about the frog
prince.

“Ribbit” croaks the frog
his lily pad is sinking…
     time to hop along

larger lily pad
makes a summer home for frogs…

My Pen and Pad of Paper

My pen and my paper,
it's all that i need,
when i want to fuel minds,
and set sad souls free,
when I'm feeling depressed and lonely,
and my heart begins to bleed,
I drop ink on my paper pad,
and my pen begins to lead.

It leads me away from reality,
the sadness, spite, and greed,
it takes me away to a far away place
where there is no want or need.
There are no limits or boundaries,
my imagination is set free,
if only life were as easy,
we'd all be happy, and carefree.

Pencil, Pad and Heart

In the middle of the universe I stand
Pencil and pad warming my palms
All around pictures hang like the solar system
And my heart fondly wants to reach far like the sun
I let pencil do its orbit around pad if only to aid my heart
And I add a touch of good where nonexistent
Lay a pillow of kindness where hardness reigns
Blow a wind of love in a needed direction
Firmly stand before injustice’s glowering eyes
Erase sadness from a dazed gaze
Draw a smile to unsmiling features
Pat a defeated look with victory
Pour out peace into war torn zones
Doodle sanity over inhuman acts
Put a microphone up for the voiceless
I look around and elsewhere see joy, laughter, serenity
Turn the other way and hands are tangled in a stroll
Perseverance hard at work, kids running around without a care
And I smile as I plant these on this pad
Knowing well these are just words
But hoping like sun they may reach beyond these situations
And be a balm of hope to someone out there
