Best Lots Of Fun Poems
We loved the lollipops, cracker jacks, and Holloway candy sticks. We adored the chocolate-coated ice cream bars and the tootsie rolls.
We could not get enough of pop sickles, cool aids, and soda pops.
We sang a love song saying, “Ice cream, soda water, cream on top, tell me the name of your sweetheart”. We had the best-tasting cookies and cigarette candies that eyes had ever seen. We were just poor kids in America’s poorest state, but no kids were sweeter than us. Hot as fire, hassled and harassed by humidity and drops of sweat; but we were sweet, not from
our good-natured personalities but from the sweets that we ate.
Life was hard in my little Mississippi Delta town; But somewhere between hard work and chores; between feeding the chickens and the cows; between feeding the goats and the hogs; between watching TV and doing homework;
between the sun ups and the Sundowns; and between the dawn and the dust;
Yes, in between, we found time to play. Most times we were okay, didn’t go astray, and had lots of fun in the barns, playing in the hay.
We rolled rubber tires like we were driving fast cars; laughed out loud as we sucked whining balls. Money was always lacking, but we did our share of licking, chewing, and sucking the sweet stuff. We bought a lot for the few pennies, nickels, and dimes that we had. We could buy our treats cheaply back then. So, we did our best to stay sweet, chewing bubble gum filled with sugar. We didn’t have a care and learned how to share, and the sweet stuff was always there. 013008PSContest, Childlike Fun, Caren Krutsinger, 2P
We may not have a "White Christmas", yet joy remains the same
I find delight in viewing candles reflected on frosted panes
They remind me to be grateful for warmth and light so near
Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year
A scenic view of white smoke rising from the chimney tall
Dainty snow flakes falling as kids roll them into balls
They sail against blustery winds and I wonder how they dare!
Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year
Sweet music heralding peace, urges hearts to spread some joy!
Displayed is a wooden Nativity Scene to greet you at the door
A glittering tree with twinkling stars stands proudly at the rear!
Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year
Fresh pine garlands dress stair rails with large red velvet bows
The aroma of cinnamon and pine saturates, delighting one’s nose
While a cozy wood fireplace glows, inviting, daydream stares
Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year
The baking’s almost done; and tons of sweets are ensured
Though, there will not be any Christmas pudding this year, for sure
Mama’s been gone home a while, yet the many memories linger here
Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year
Whatever may happen in life, Christmas joy lives in the heart
A warm home and loving hearts have sufficed from the start
Much food, drinks and good conversation; lots of fun to share!
Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year
“Less formal” is my style preferred, so do relax if you please
Sit on the floor, take off those shoes; dance or just be a tease
When you feel stuffed and need a nap, if you snore, have no fear!
Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year

POTD is often filled with sadness
Not often is there joy and gladness
Not much laughter fills this world
Little humour gets unfurled
Little gratitude for what one has
Woe is me I'm lost and sad alas
Lets have some days of poetic jokes
Lots of fun filled jolly pokes
Great medicine comes from laughter
Lifts the spirit for hours long after
POTD sometimes filled with glee
Are there others or is this invitation only me
Perhaps at least one day a month a Sunday
to be reserved for a POTD humour fun day
You’re in Palm Springs, not much to do
But golf and get some sun
Hop on a cart, still almost dark
Get out and have some fun
Line up your shot, you’re feeling hot
You try hard not to push
But half the time, like you were blind
It ends up in the bush
You curse and swear like no one’s there
Dig up a chunk of dirt
You hit a house, feel like a louse
Thank God no one was hurt
You hack around, rip up the ground
The hole seems ’way too small
You miss your shot and swear a lot
This is no fun at all
Every shot’s worse than the last
No matter how you try
They don’t go where you want them
It makes you wanna cry
Your buddies laugh, you stand and chaff
You ask them what’s so funny
They grin and say, “Looks like today
You owe us lots of money”
Finally when you make a shot
You think you’re getting hotter
You rip the next shot long and hard
Straight into the water
Every shot makes someone smile
Somehow it’s never you
A foursome comes up from behind
Asks if they could play through
You shank and pull you slash and slice
You finally get around
The only part that you enjoy
Is when you’re homeward bound
You practice ‘til the sun goes down
Determined not to fail
The more you try the worse it gets
You just groove your slash and flail
Today I had a real good day
I’m happy as could be
Had lots of fun, me and my Hon
Stayed home and watched TV
Can you keep a secret?
‘cause I’ve got one to share
I’ve a friend called Fazzbot
With green and purple hair.
Fazzbot met me yesterday
The day before today
Fazzbot is an alien
SSShhhhh!!
It’s a secret by the way.
He’s like a purple dragon
And a penguin too
He’s got green stripes
All down his back
Like the zebras at the zoo
He’s really good at magic
All he does is flick his hair
With a whizzle…
And a fizzling pop!
You’re neither here
Nor there.
Last night he whizzled us
Right up to see the moon
We ate green cheese and lollipops
And floated on balloons.
We splashed around in puddles
Gave the mermaids such a fright
And when some pirates came to swim
He whizzled us
Out of sight.
He’d whizzled us invisible
No one could see us there
Could they see us?
NO!
So we burped
BUUURRP
We burped right in their ear.
Then with a whizzle…
And a fizzling pop!
We went behind the sun
Roasting marshmallows on some sticks
The sun is lots of fun!
Playgrounds full of whirly gigs
And whatsa-ma-call-its too
Mud that tastes like chocolate
Pink elephants
That turn blue
Then with a whizzle…
And a fizzling pop!
I could feel my head
Resting on my pillow
I was tucked inside my bed.
Can you keep a secret?
About Fazzbot,
My secret friend
Then
You and I
And I and You
Tomorrow
We’re off with our new friend.
You had lots of fun
At the local where drinks flowed.
Night took you away...
One last breath in mangled wreck;
My heart aches. Why can’t I cry?

The Christmas season is upon us
With lots of things to show
NO THERE ISN'T , YES THERE IS
And the best of them's the Panto
Dick Whittington and Aladdin
Are two that I've forgot
But I've heard that they're amazing
YES THEY ARE, NO THEY'RE NOT
A tradition every Christmas
The Panto finds the kid
Inside every one who witnesses
NO HE DIDN'T , YES HE DID!!
Actors dressed as women
Silly fun for all to see
NO IT ISN'T , YES IT IS
And lots of fun for me
There's nothing like a Panto
To make the people yell
NO IT DOESN'T, YES IT DOES
It's a laugh for me as well
This year I chose my Panto
I'm going to see the lot
So, I will wish you Merry Christmas
I WILL SO, YOU WILL NOT!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND ENJOY THE PANTO IN YOUR AREA.
AGE OF TEN
Way back then when I was ten
Things were so very different then
I wrote with ink in a fountain pen
Whenever we could we would build a den
And I loved to help my dad in the garden
Way back then when I was ten
I walked to school and was never late
Always ate everything on my dinner plate
Played hop scotch by the garden gate
And was not allowed to go to bed late
Way back then when I was ten
No television colours only black and white
Real Christmas trees and a glass fairy light
We all had a different size of trike
Then I got my first two wheeled bike
Way back then when I was ten
We had so much freedom to roam
But must be in for meals at home
Only a phone boxes with a dial phone
And no phone in many a home
Way back then when I was ten
Latest craze was roller skates
And hula hoop with your mates
Skipping ropes and Meccano gates
But lots of fun with wooden crates
Way back then when I was ten
Coins were in pounds shillings and pence
Mothers talked over the garden fence
Scooters that you could make go at such a pace
Noisy steam trains that always seem to race
Way back then when I was ten
With friends you played out doors
Toys for your imagination scatted on the floor
Skipping ropes, skates and many things more
Sledges of wood, a dolls house with opening doors
Way back then when I was ten
Fun was had with blackboard and chalk
Clay dolls that you could walk
And new plastic ones that wouldn’t talk
Then babies came by way of the Stork UNSUPPORTED CODE
In southern Colorado,
that old Rocky Mountain state,
beneath God's azure heavens
is a place called Turquoise Lake.
I'd been driving all around,
it was time to take some lunch.
The lake looked right for fishing,
at least that was my hunch.
After chow I got my gear
and headed for the shore.
I tied on a jitterbug,
who could ask for anything more.
Weedy cover on the left
set off a loud alarm,
but I was casting to the right
just to limber up my arm.
From behind an old man came,
he'd been watching for a while,
"Surface lures won't work out here,"
he mumbled with a smile.
"You know this is a trout lake,
they won't hit on surface lures,
so get yourself a fly rod
and you'll catch some fish for sure."
Now just as luck would have it
you know where the next cast goes,
it's just off of the weed bed,
how that water did explode.
A Rainbow Trout grabbed my lure
and started on a run.
I was fishing ultra-light,
it was really lots of fun.
The oldster stood in wonder,
said he never would have thought
that on a rig like I had
a Rainbow could be caught.
Reluctantly the trout gave up,
he came in without delay.
I gave him slack and he was gone
to fight another day.
Well you’re on the road for weeks at a time
so when you get home you’ll get a big surprise,
cause
I’m going to welcome you when you get home;
I’m going to take you back into the back bedroom.
I'm going to light all the candles Hun,
then I'm going to turn the music on.
You and I will have ourselves lots of fun...
Because it’s long overdue when you miss someone,
it’s long overdue when you miss someone.
Well I know your lonely when you’re gone
so am I baby don't you worry none,
cause
I'm going to welcome you when you get home;
I'm going to take you back into the back bedroom.
I'm going to take all of my clothes off Hun,
then I'm going to help you get your pants undone.
You and I will have ourselves lots of fun...
Because it’s long overdue when you miss someone,
Yah it’s long overdue when you miss someone.
Well I know you wonder if I'll be around,
I'm telling you baby I'm not leaving town,
cause
I'm going to welcome you when you get home;
I'm going to take you back into the back bedroom.
I'm going to lay you down on my bed Hun,
then I'm going to do all of the things you love,
you and I will have ourselves lots of fun...
Because it’s long overdue when you miss someone.
I said it’s long overdue when you miss someone.
Yah, you and I will have ourselves lots of fun...
Because
it’s long overdue when you miss someone.
Yah it’s long overdue when you miss someone.
I said it’s long overdue...
when you miss someone.
she came out of the sea in a transparent bikini
i sat up stunned like the guy from new guinea.
engrossed at her raw taste of invitation,
i fell for her temptation.
she took me to her home,
and we had lots of fun
with her, i was able to enjoy my life
just as i was about taking my leave,
i saw an old ugly rickety lady staring at me
and when i asked who she was, she replied:
"that is foolishness my old trash disposer"
since then, i vowed to follow wisdom,
since she is greater than foolishness.
My dream date would have to be romantic.
I’m thinking of a long cruise out to sea
with stop-overs at beautiful locations
and with a man with eyes for only me.
My dream date would have to be in summer
so we could lie in leisure in the sun,
sand beneath our feet and playing handsies.
Then on the cruise ship having lots of fun.
My dream date will just remain a dream.
How romantic can my old man get?
He would never set foot on a cruise ship.
Has time travel been invented yet?

Sun’s soulful smile swells boundlessly
while the sky mirrors the clear blue sea.
Seashore blends with the ebbs’ rolling voices
Sifting, swaying to and fro
as beach-goers barge in.
Humid air blows gently around
On white dunes with parasol mounts
Picnics with lots of fun abound
Excursionists are hard to count.

Ballad of Smorgasbord Cat
Once upon a hot July night
Smorgasbord Cat was born, not right.
The only kitten born with clothes,
She came out wearing pantyhose.
Blue bellbottoms when she turned eight,
Made her feel insanely great.
Her siblings bullied her for fun
But she was powerful, this one.
She’s odd, her mother told her dad.
But she’s so good, and seldom bad.
Where did she get her name? He asked.
I do not know, her mother basked.
Smorgasbord Cat soon ran a club,
She sold drink and delicious grub.
Her relatives all bragged her up.
She gave them each a special cup.
That cat lived to be ninety-three.
And now just between you and me,
I admit I gave her that name.
On a bet at a poker game.
Smorgasbord Cat has her own song.
Cross-eyed face, and red tail, long.
Yes, bawdy and funny, was she.
Married five times, litters of three.
Happy, joyful lots of fun,
Smorgasbord Cat, truly best one
At her funeral everyone came.
No one knows where she got her name.
Welcome to The S Laughter house
And lots of fun and games
Where everyone participates
To show that they are game
We’re well known as the funny place
Where beef, I mean cows go
Just get in line behind a friend
And please enjoy the show
We’ll unload your bags right away
So you can watch an act
And at the end when all’s wrapped up
You will be fully packed
See we’re so busy every day
It seems like a stampede
Of happy patrons, we will slay
Until becoming feed
What I really meant by that is
Until becoming freed
That’s the kind of laughs we get at
S Laughter House indeed
We also serve food all day long
Outside on the paddock
Which is beyond that dusty yard
Like that for prime livestock
We know our guests have a good time
Since they stay forever
Due to the fact we’re such cut ups
Which is our endeavor
Tell your family and your friends
Plus those that oink and bleat
For we’ll find plenty of room for
All those we like to meat
