Tanka Tears

You had lots of fun
At the local where drinks flowed.
Night took you away...
One last breath in mangled wreck;
My heart aches. Why can’t I cry?

Thank you Hija. Unfortunately these things happen...perhaps too often. Drink-driving is a no go. All the best. // paul

congrats, Paul. I see you got a Poem of the day. Wonder if you made that list. I did not make it on. Anyway, it makes no difference. I saw many marvelous poems like yours with the theme of tanka tears.

Thank you for the lovely comment and the congrats, Andrea. I too failed to make the final list, but that was no surprise....I take part in most of his contests, but I've never been on any of his winners' lists! We all judge differently. // paul

Powerful emotions expressed, Paul...the tears will flow when you're ready to feel the pain and release it...sometimes a good cry helps bring closure...best wishes in the contest...sending a big hug (sometimes that helps, too), Rhonda

Brilliant tanka that made me want to cry! Sometimes when people we love die suddenly and violently, we are in such shock, we can't cry. This is definitely a winner, my friend! Kindest regards. Pandita
