Lily of the Nile
O Lily of the Nile, your enchanting
purple starburst blooms
rise on naked stalks to greet
lovers on their river stroll as
nature lifts their spirits high where
setting sun and twilight meet.
Known from ancient ardent times
as lover's finest floral gifts...
alluring in shadowed silhouette,
as blooms unfurl to a new day
as lovely as the day before,
in stunning shades of violet.
In regal stature, tall and fragrant,
with beauty and rectitude you share
divine essence when you flower
in tenured longing you so desire.
Alas, you fade at summer's end
and reluctantly release your power.

Piano music plays.
Soft notes emote mid air,
like tear-stung doves they fly
in atmosphere of fog.
The clouds, they shroud the sky.
Piano music plays,
the keys, they seize my blues—
the depth of blue, so vast.
Poetic ivories
harassed… recite the past.
Piano music plays.
Dull echoes haunt the halls,
sonatas without soul.
Since wick and flame lost light
my space inside like coal.
Piano music plays,
the white noise like a ghost.
My fluid fingers mourn
in melodies of you —
the thorns on rose reborn.
My mind drifts back
To red times we've had
Healing happy lime laughs
Revealing shining over anything sad
Magical how one word from you
Colors me whatever you choose
From lamenting lemon to maroon
All based on love so true
You are my favorite song
I sing you all day night long
U write me pink passionate poems
Invite me to dream along
We don't have much in hand
But rich in heart with romance
By time design holding hand
Spirit so cheery we freelance
No bars no cars only white stars
Can showcase our love bizarre
We cruise like cotton clouds so vast
Upon our lovely lime lily pad
Hurry, hurry we are burning daylight,
The flowers are wilting;
Mother was planting a cottage garden,
And we needed the right perennials;
Flowers durable, enduring, perpetual,
Oh sweet dreams of flowers;
This was a journey I shared with mother,
Daylight pours into this memory;
That I recall vividly.
Fragrant burning daylight day lilies,
Flowing emerald leaves;
Intense beautiful orange-yellow colors,
Trumpet shaped delicate soft blooms;
We set them in a sheltered location,
So attractive in the shade;
They also thrive in fields growing wild,
After mother died I took some;
Placing them at her tomb.
Darkness turns to daylight as I recall,
Mother's cottage garden;
Some tell me that I must let it go,
That all the time I spend grieving;
The less time I spend living my life,
But how dear to me the memory;
Of me and mother in her garden,
Planting burning daylight day lilies;
With petals that sleep.

A lily blooms in Floral May,
Its petals basking in the sun’
I'm in trance of its softened sway,
A lily blooms! In Floral May
Eyes adorn the blushing bouquet,
Festive flowers have just begun’
A lily blooms- in Floral May
Its petals basking in the sun!

Celebrate May with a Triolet
Sponsored by: Andrea Dietrich
Placed 2'nd...Thank You
I planted a lily
A long time ago,
And was given the chance
To watch the plant grow.
I'm sorry to say,
That chance I refused.
A delicate flower
Should not be abused.
It needs to be nurtured
With plenty of sun.
Not shoved in the darkness
Where damage is done.
I planted a lily.
I hope you can see.
That without my presence
A flower's set free.
How rainbows covet lily bells
that chime the dulcet birth of May
with murmured notes in fay pastels.
How rainbows covet lily bells,
mellifluous in shaded dells,
to mime in tranquil bloom manque.
How rainbows covet lily bells
that chime the dulcet birth of May.

with ethereal initials
of your s u n f l o w e r

I remember when
our eyes reflected
like celestial f i r e f l i e s
watching beach

kiss
the rouge
sherbet clouds
drifting through hues of
lavender linings
knitting a tapestry of
tinker bell dreams
I long to return
and turn back t i m e
to marigold monsoons
painting

in scarlet sage feathers
whilst pixie-fairies
swirl with us
singing amidst
childhood fears
braving through
weeping
waves of w o e s
crashing upon
hidden traces
in hourglass p e a r l s
of fleeting

soaked in seas
of sizzling s t a r s
as our tiny fingers
craft crystalline castles
with regal conch shells
found along
moon lily s h o r e l i n e s
where tansy vines twinkle
like twilight tears
reflecting runes of
rosemary ribbons
scattered across
raisin black spheres
I wonder now
do rivers in heaven
flow with
aurora calligraphies

For I can feel your
poetic glitter on my
toffee-hued skin
as I scribble our
secrets in rose gold i n k

Maybe I should

let thoughts
walk through
holographic hallways

within my

allow nature to guide me
back to the turquoise
arms of tranquility

mourning hearts
connected through
mellifluous m e m o r i e s
when storms slow dance
to the
symphony of g r i e f
let wind take away

and illuminate wilted flowers
to thrive as souvenirs

I AM A WATER LILY
When blue skies kiss whisper and ***** ripples quiver...
I drink on sun rays and bathe from falling rain,
I stand there afloat: graceful and reserve.
From pink petals shimmer, I flush also a moonlit snow,
honeyed aroma I puff and puff chasing wind curves
thrilling some senses, awakening some nerves!
Upon gush and waves of bursting rainbow colors,
I lay atop, my rhizomes rise, they waft....
Around my roots are croaking frogs and slimy eels,
they thrive for I supply their daily meals.
Day by day in my life, I live to be pure,
my heart beckons heaven yet my roots down here...
Even if currents trample me and storms blow me,
upon seas and oceans, I trip like a sailing ship
but upon force, upon wonders I shall abide
giving my everything-- my best white shots!

In a world once devoid of all color.
Near the end of it's mythical age.
Was bestowed a final magical gift
Before time could turn the page
Lily was born to Avalon
And raised in Lyonesse
She spoke in soft melodic tones
and moved with angelic finesse
Her skin was the shade of the harvest moon
Her heart of the sun's warm caress
Her eyes were forged of emerald mist
and her hair was a windswept mess
Sweet Lily knelt at rivers edge
To splash her upon her face
The waters of the sacred flow
Which carried nature's grace
When she raised her head she felt renewed
and she wiped the wash from her eyes
To see reflected, a strange new world
An awe inspiring surprise
A world of color newly formed
by this girl and her new found powers
Beauty swept throughout the realm
Of Sweet Lily the queen of the flowers
Radiance followed where ever she walked
Her path was not hard to detect
Fragrance of lilac filled the air
While tulips all bowed with respect
She wandered forth, the wind her guide
To share her precious gift
Rainbows free to arc the sky
and infinite bubbles adrift
It's said she wanders still, this place
A world of her minds creation
All beauty it seems is a product of
Sweet Lily's imagination
Lovely lily, you take my breath away
I just have to tell you how much I adore you.
The moment we met I could smell your sweet scent so fragrant and alluring.
I looked longingly at your svelte body, so tall and elegant
with long arms outstretched holding such beautiful blooms.
Standing in the daylight I saw the sun shining on your beautiful face;
you turned to bask in its rays and cute freckles appeared on your skin.
I watched you flirting with nature and you blushed bright pink as you
swirled your pretty party dress and danced on the summer breeze.

Stargazer lilies are one of my favourite flowers and grow in pots in my front garden – sadly with the high winds we have experienced recently all the petals dropped in 4 days.
Liv`s lilies
bending toward the sun
throws colors all over the garden
Not a cloud obscured the sky ...
A simple touch
Upright in honor
I could hear them sigh
If gorgeous colors are going astray
... you can find them here
along the road with roads

My Lily Cat
I miss my dear loving kitty,
You died so young, what a pitty!
I loved to stroke your softest fur,
To watch you play and hear you purr.
You gave such joy, though unaware
How your sweet spirit helped me bear
The many burdens on my mind,
You shared your loyal love so kind.
Your picture sits upon my shelf
Behind the glass, sunning yourself.
I cried for two months when you left,
Inconsolable and bereft.
My feline friend where are you now?
I pray you'll be reborn somehow.

The grove within the forest leads to a river,
Where sings the frogs, dragonflies, and birds
And there they die away, quietly, welcomed by their young
Decomposing in the ground, their smells lost within others
The lily, drenched in dew, dries slowly in the sun
Near the water, soft, sweet-scented, true
She dries more and more, till dawn gifts her gloss
And again, she has beyond what she needs
Dripping, crying, the darkness cannot consume her elegance
Even in dying days, she shrivels with eternal fragrance
Trumpeting sounds of elephants
Pleasant rides, tricks, and children’s chants
In a place called Thailandia
The tourists come from Sandia
They visit their uncles and aunts
Ride the bulls, play, touch, watch them paint
Unaware of treatment, restraint
A few people saw the dark side
The brutal industry must hide
You are led into tours quite quaint
Taken away from her mother,
Trained to toil for another
Enslaved as a beast of burden
Sweet baby calf called Lily Len
White as milk, she’s like no other
Len’s father a combat hero
And although she would never know
He, equipped with iron armor
Knee pads, and sounds of drums of war
Strongest was he, true warrior
In colorful costume adorned
For royals to ride she was born
Her spine aches, he is too much weight
Len resigned to this awful fate
Between two worlds she is now torn
Crying for a hopeful sign
Recalls Airvata the divine
He, the legend water child
Len prays to him so beguiled
And in her sleep their souls align
Airvata reaches down with his trunk
To the underworld she’d been sunk
Sucked up and sprays her in a cloud
Awakened she feels safe and proud
Happily sprayed with muddy gunk
Separated at birth, now three
Len is saved, taken to Nuwee
A lovely rainforest in Lanark
Near a river, Phant’s Nature Park
Where she washes, where she roams free
