aye …

on such
divine evenings, thus,
are perfect odes not freely spun?
the Perseids, dancing their
jocund jigs -
capricious, evanescent stripes of
golden ire under a tapestry
of wonders …
watching rapt, ever-attentive,
streaking, burning ephemeral, as if the
gods themselves trace their
fingertips gently on
a phosphorescent brine …
but this, yet,
a sea of suns, amaranthine …
I wonder, could it be …
they are fleeting?
the hopes of idle angels, perhaps,
dying bright in the veil of Zion -
plunging to the earth
as if mortal …
perchance, they're pearls of Sol -
strands of liquid morning,
to adorn, pure, the breast of Heaven …
could be …
they're forsaken souls -
lost spirits, given one last chance to
burn their id on the firmament …
or even yet …
the wondrous wishes of children,
sparking to life in the midst of
their deepest dreaming,
and then … gone …
oh, surely,
it must be that,
their bright, momentary glory can
be meant for ONLY such
tender fancies,
the imaginings of youth,
the one fit and worthy vessel for
such runes …
and I, but their ever-willing caretaker …
picking each one from
the fiery vault like precious
gems from a parcel,
and plopping them, sweet,?
into the deep, soft pocket of my joys … thus,
on such divine evenings ...

aye!

Breath of Love

I wander in the nature’s green, trees in rows the birds preen
Like a gem glimmers the morning dew, with a precious diamond’s hue
And flowers bloom as I gaze anew, eggs hatch to welcome lives in queue
I can smell the wondrous earth, the distant flow of water in mirth
It’s a new dawn another day thereof, wherein I sense his breath of love.

As I prod on the old man smiles, he delivers milk by cycling miles
Passing the farmers sweet abode, the cry of new life reaches the road
A child wails by the neighbour’s door, with a sweet candy her eyes adore
Roaming the street is a hound grown, pups trailing behind unknown
A jocund street undreamed of, wherein I sense his breath of love.

My dearest rush out sighting me afar, without whom my life is a war
The tiny tots in their cradles lie, as we sing a lullaby
This is the world I am part of, wherein I sense his breath of love.

Premium Member Bittersweet Memories' Song

recently scenes of early life have stolen into my mind, like breezes blown ..."
Quote by _Samuel Taylor Coleridge (from his writings)

Throughout each day your spirit comes to mind.
Upon the grave of love denied I tread.
Somehow in precious recalls peace, I find.

Three years get often tangled in my head.
Which day and time did that event occur?
But I see only happiness instead.

A nighttime breeze can make my passions stir.
The rise of smells and sounds from country cozy.
Yet in my scenes sometimes true love’s a blur.

Sweet remembrance of the days so rosy.
A jocund dance for us that wasn’t long.
But I care not to linger on to mosey.

How bittersweet the daydreams growing strong.
Increase from their determined will to last.
Our poetry’s alive in memories’ song.

We’ve both been changed by circumstances, fast.
The shift of tides that caused our love to pass.

DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Jovial Dr Jekyll played for juvenile Justice
                    a just jaspered journey
jokingly jumped a joyride
                                to juicy jukebox jabbering
in jackal jackboots
                         from nearby jungle

Dr Jekyll clasped a jackknife eating
                                  jambalaya to justify a
                             juggled juxtapositional
jurisdiction jamming
       as jugular vein jingled jewels
joyfully jauntily jaywalking
to a jay named Jim Jolly !

Onward he jumped to a
                                   Jungian junction
              Jupiter jocund watching his
 journeying joints
              journalese seemed a jibe jig
but neither Jewess, Jesuit
                            or jeweller jiggled this job

So he jerked his jess
                          like a jape for Japan
Jejuning onto January for the
                           next jangle of jasmine

No jellyfish was Dr Jekyll in Jordanian jerkin
           though sometimes Mr Hyde
                   with jeroboam swirling alongside !

Joy In Alliteration

Joyful jolly jigs and jests,
Jump and jive, no time to rest.
Joining hands, a joyful crew,
Joking, laughing, joy anew.

Jazzy tunes, a joyful beat,
Jingling bells, a jolly treat.
Jovial smiles, a joyful sight,
Joyful memories, day and night.

Jeweled skies, a joyful hue,
Jubilant birds, singing anew.
Jocund laughter, fills the air,
Joyful sounds, everywhere.

Joyful hearts, a light so bright,
Jubilant love, shining so right.
Joyful souls, a shining star,
Journey on, to where you are.

So let joy fill your every day,
With jolly laughter all the way.
For joy is like a treasure trove,
Filled with love, and joy and hope.

Through That Window

Lying in an augur's aviary..
Reneging on my virtues,so credulous..
The feying fay being taken to
bury,
I see things called ambigous.

Slowly fading odour of scantity..
In Attica, end of augustan age.
Wings of Azreal, the martinet
deity,
I see these, with espied rage.

Hydaes casting spell every
night..
The abysmal wizard of dark
kinglet.
Between scylla and cherybdis is
my sight..
Seeing through the torment
outlet.

Through that window, with
arriere pensee..
I see me, the ambling ember
Once alive, now frozen modus
vivendi..
Promenading with flowing ichor.

Still with each sunshine..

I see hope blazing through..
A jocund scene,hard to miss.
The changing magniloquent
hue..
Palladium of gamut bliss.....

Mea Culpa, Extol Belles-Lettres

The Jackal's line of demarcation ye souls' furlough for interim...
Today, cockcrows perturb in a gala thrice for thee quiescent stay,
God's Park of Ephemera, sashays the daggled the minder harks,
a chest not in to rest, of dais edicts, cudgels so contagious;
haughty wheels peddle rashly between two havocked hearts,
foisting wintry fobs of progeny pleating to let pigeons exeunt,
if bedlam trotting by pothers ye, the cob, yet calmly sings,
"Fare-thee-well, Oh snowflake in dwindle, hallow me next spring,
via crepuscules, cleaved like vacant aulas crescendo conveyance,
wholly abutting city lights, this chimney calling cannot sight!"
Jolly pedestrians twinge at our capitol! Touring a mindful chance,
Ample of verve, knowing mortuary amblers must get their fight!
"Fountains, thawing ye? Janitor, what does the blind really see?"
tryst squelch time, squirm squander squalors n' ante antiquated feet,
Jocund or beh£s belief! Ye! Behind bellicose belletrists by beggars!
When baubles full-fledged, hast consummated thee to hobnob no more,
jongleur sloshed anchors on mimes bare laid laic stoolie, loupe aims,
Headmost, request lasting breaths above broadcasting fortune n' fame,
Then fated fires the Sniper jostles from home to goad n' prod,
Ye kindred stanchion and I, skimmed, the sunset even with me...

Thank You Mom

Oh mother oh mother oh motherly
be,
woe would be the world without
thee,
you fed us when we were
hungry,
you clothed us when we were
cold,
you cooled us when we were
feverish,
and you held us when we weren’t
quite so bold;
so mother oh mother oh motherly
be,
many would be the sorrow without
thee,
you pained at our
losses,
you jocund at our
gains,
you kissed all of our
booboos,
and bandaged all our
sprains;
so mother oh mother oh motherly
be,
many would be the poorer without

thee,

1
so you never owned new
shoes,
for that matter nor a
dress,
your hair was cut by your very own
hands,
so we could have the
best;
so mother oh mother oh motherly
be,
because of thee;
the richer, the wiser, the better are
we.

The Lift of Her Curse

.

 Such a rash stimulus before
             mine eyes
 which has caused the naïve
                 reach
                 from
            the likes of i

        Though each day
             (it seems)
               buffoon
winks back at me through the
          reflective pane
 a jocund feeling over comes
                  me
   almost becoming ecstatic

      It has many of times
               caused
             the jingle
             yes as in
       rhyme and verse
                 yes
  many passionate words
        from the lift of

             her curse

Life

To life I hark at the crack of dawn
Then bow to its doting light,
Savour tweets in the trembling air
Fragrant with that jocund sight.

At noon I feel the blazing sun
As I toil upon my grind,
It bequeaths me a salty crown
And a throne that it can find.

Dusk caresses my weary brow
And twilight eases the load,
That lies upon my troubled heart
As I amble down the road.

A silvery moon entices me
With dreams that are heavenly,
Magical baits to live my days
With its spell of wizardry.

This life is not some revelry
But struggle I know to be,
A measure for enlightenment
Shaded by a Bodhi tree.

Genethliac

Carpe diem? sweet, yet meet?… whimsical? smart? how do I start?…
On a birthday, it’s worth saying something special from the heart.

While I’ve penned all kinds of rhymes— ahead, behind the times, a range—
Some in verse that’s terse, some florid, others horrid, stanzas strange…

Here are couplets spare, to share a word about aesthetic voice
And tell of those who, heaven knows, feel impelled. These have no choice.

Force driven, from a passion given or a pull linguistic,
They have to make their plea— to make us see— by means artistic.

To psyches nourish with a flourish to seek heights where dreams dare—
Souls entice through words’ device— takes more than mere inventive flair.

Although Joyce’s knack most lack or Molly Bloom’s, yes, claim to fame…
Still a spark might light that could ignite a literary flame.

When in dim creative burn, one struggles just to turn the page—
Push on to… and puzzle through… a painful poem’s final stage.

Midst seas of jocund companies, I would seek to speak from shore,
Hope to leave behind a line of mine that wasn’t there before…

Meantime delight in what is left, each strophe deft… to the end…
Where we blind may find someday someway unwinds beyond that bend…

I’ll stop the Harley parley now— sing appreciation ‘cheers’…
For encore add, ‘many more birthdays galore… and relished years!’

~ Harley White

[While this was initially written for the birthday of someone in particular, I have found it to be appropriate for my creative friends and acquaintances in general.]

Wordsworth's Lament

I wandered lonely as a cloud—Oh dear!
I watched the dance of daffodils—Oh my!
When on my couch in vacant mood I lie
And feel their wealthy fluttering draw near.

I see them toss their heads like twinkling stars;
A sparkling, sprightly, jocund company.
I gaze, I gaze, they outdo waves with glee;
A host, a crowd, ten thousand avatars.

They flash within my pensive inward eye;
My heart is oft with pleasure filled each day.
Alone a poet could not be but gay;
Especially great Romantics such as I.

I cringe to think that out of all the rest,
This poem might one day be deemed my best.

A parody of William Wordsworth's poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" (aka "Daffodils")
