Ancient Aliens
They have always been here
ancient? – alien?
living amongst the unknowing
hiding in plain sight.
How have they altered
our past? – our future?
advanced or hindered
our progress – our failure.
How have they touched us
with an unseen nudge,
aligned the stars
that we might follow
crumbs of reason,
sat with us in silence
awed by our insolence
humbled by our fervor.
They view us from a distance-
time and space overlapped
knowledge and inexperience
in conflict with themselves.
Knowing that in time
experience becomes
the proving ground of knowledge,
knowledge the anvil
shaping the experience.
They are the flat rock skippers,
the kite flyers, paper airplane makers,
sidewalk chalk drawers,
mud pie makers, frog catchers,
butterfly chasers, bug touchers,
flower sniffers, feather collectors.
They will always be here
ancient – alien
wiser than their years
greater than their fears
in forever’s - ancient moment
alien – in human form.

August 5 Scripture Meditations Based on Jeremiah 46-52
Key Verse – Jeremiah 47:6 O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.
MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR QUIETING ME
Thank You for quieting me from restlessness
Due to sinfulness’ oppressiveness
As you reprove my soul against selflessness
By Your loving kindness.
Thank You for quieting me from anxiety
Due to transgressions’ enmity
As you check my heart against vanity
By Your gracious authority.
Thank You for quieting me from destruction
Due to abominations’ corruption
As you increase my faith against obstruction
By Your powerful redemption.
Thank You for quieting me from idolatry
Due to pride’s entry
As you rebuke my fear against valor in stewardship infantry
By Your biblical ministry.
Thank You for quieting me from indolence
Due to sluggardness’ prevalence
As you discipline my attitude against insolence
By Your righteous opulence.
Thank You for quieting me from hypocrisy
Due to contentment’s deficiency
As you mold my character against inconsistency
By Your tender mercy.
Thank You for quieting me from detriment
Due to worldliness’ involvement
As you appraise my commitment against shallow engagement
By Your eternal investment.

The curse of an
inflated imagination.
An escarpment of thought
in a blistering mind.
An invasion of insolence
amidst a tempest-tossed
cacophony
of mewling memories.
A throat restricting,
heart galloping,
and eyes trembling.
A voiceless scream for help.
A crouching body
in cold defeat.
A quivering being,
gasping for an
exasperating breath.
Then, a ferociously seized breath -
transplanted
from an enchained soul,
gives birth to grave apathy.
A silent tear dissipates
into an endless ocean
of trepidation.
To fave or not to fave, is that the question
Whether ‘tis nobler to remain silent
To hurl faint praise and fortune
Suffer the pangs of outrageous doubt
Or take up arms against a sightless algorithm
And by opposing them. ..To try – to sleep,
No more: amid the angst of glory’s glut
To write, perchance to dream, now there’s the rub
For on that page what words may come
When we have shuffled off this muse’s toil
Must give us pause --- Where’s the respect
That make calamity of so long a write.
For who would bear the whims of AI scorn
Challenge the oppressor’s right or wrong
The pangs of twisted words now on display
The insolence the words themselves convey
The patient merit the unworthy take
With muted words a silenced voice to bare
To grunt and swear at writing’s dreary life
Ominous tomes unread ‘til after death
Discovered on the yellowed pages torn
By heirless patrons puzzling the will
Makes us cherish still the words we have
Than search for others that we know not of
Thus, conscience comes before the coward’s fall
And thus, the furtive pen seeks retribution
“Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought”.
And pages filled with pith and frozen moment
Without regard are read by minds awry
And lose an unsought gain
//My sincerest apology to Shakespeare and his minions//
Present turbulence
Occupying the skies
Like a madman's insolence
In pursuing his demise
Until his madness is silenced.
Electric atmosphere
Burdened by constant charges
Desperately seeking release
But peace remains at large
For our fears have yet to cease.
The heavens overcome by strife
Incurred by a low pressure
Keeping our spirits in restless plight
Thinking there is no answer
But the constant echo of repeating trials.
However around the corner
The sky will clear once again
For the sun once more will conquer
After the clouds have reached their aim
And discharge their load in showers.
Knowing such constance
Allows the heart not to fail
Under the pressure of turbulence
For strong its beating remains
Faith the key to its endurance.
A better atmosphere
Is always around the corner
Our fears come to cease
Unless we lose sight of the future
The time of peace will come to be.

A crack in the concrete is a canyon,
a fissure enough to let a slice of green grow
with no gentle hands to cradle the sapling,
no affable soil to support the tender roots.
As the dust settles on the leaves of endurance
like silence enwrapping an abandoned life,
survival is the dispensation of the introvert,
unfolding in a space that’s not meant for life.
Outside, the world is an indistinct panorama,
the scenes move to make an alien array,
encased within the familiar frame of isolation,
where self-shadow is the only companion.
Yet, the weed survives the pangs of desertion alone,
perhaps because existence is the willful rising
to thrive even when no one cares to own,
for, it’s a life defined by what can be endured.
When existence is the emblem of withering forlorn,
after sprouting with the essence of insolence,
helping to bloom lonely life with the touch of hope,
waiting for the spring that’s never promised.
You’re certainly missing out
Whilst you’re fooling about
And you’re swimming in doubt
So I shall certainly you out-rout
I’d advise you to be on the lookout
For I’m your rival, far more worthy a scout
Take heed or you’ll end up looking like a lout
All I can tell you for now is that you’re missing out
While you’re looking away
Twirling in relentless dismay
Your insolence successfully leads you astray
So He finds me in greater favour every day
Unlike you, I’m eloquent with words that gently sway
The God with whom for hours on exhausted knees I stay
‘Till the last hour of the night a dear prayer to say
With heartfelt sobs and a submissive heart I pray away
I whisper, “Dear God of mercy, show me your face
For I am a sinner in need of Your saving Grace
For years in meditation and supplication I’ll chase
The benedictions You bestow unto the winners of the race
The so-called ‘faithful’ ones who cautiously pace
In the promising path which for them You daily trace”
I solemnly utter, “My heart with Love and Faith do interlace
So I can one good day be worthy of seeing Your glorious face”
If you were smart, you’d take after me
Vigilant and sober at all times you’d be
So from the snares of the enemy you’d easily flee
Who’s literally got you down on one knee
Yet too proud you are for your life to give an earnest plea
No diligence whatsoever for efforts to be free
Indeed that thief I am, the thief of grace, you see
Watch out, or you’ll lose all your blessings to me
The arrogance of humanity
Insists some piece of it we own,
But fragile Earth on which we tread,
God gives us only as a loan.
As we impose our footprints here
May lovely blossoms show our path.
No poisons nor impurities.
Just sweet rainwater as Earth's bath.
To generations handed down
As perfect as conceptual plan
In a few years can be badly changed
By the smug insolence of man.
In peaceful equanimity
The flora and the fauna live;
Pleased to be part of greater plan,
Taking no more than what they give.
We humans must accept the blame
For interruptions to the flow.
Our mighty rivers carry forth
Toxins we scatter as we go.
If Earth is to live, we must resolve
To be protectors of her worth.
Gardeners, may our numbers grow
As guardians of our precious Earth.
Resolved are we to preach the word
That Nature has finite supply,
Abandoning guns for trusted hoe
We must go forth and multiply.
In robust numbers we shall march
Against pollution of our land.
Treading lightly as we advance,
Trustees of globe on which we stand.
A BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER QUIET
‘Tis the infancy of yet another day
And I hear it crying for its bottle now
But I know the sun is no child anyway
It can be a sadistic son and it will teach you how
I live under a tunnel on the highway’s right
Yet wrong I may ever be
I found an old mattress the other night
so discomfort doesn’t bother me
Today yesterday is but an artifact
An ancient find to hunters of the past
But it seems the sun and Satan have some sort of pact
Alas, whatever it is will probably hold fast
I’m lucky enough to live with my lover
She’s agreed to live free along with me
And often when it rains we needn’t run for cover
The umbrella is our love to be
The term “shelter” means different things to different people I know
Shelter to some might mean a mansion in France
To people like me and my lover “shelter” means just somewhere else to go
Moved by an emphatic embrace and the lives we each enhance
To us rain, cold or snow doesn’t mean we get up and go
It’s the tortuous sun we know will eventually come
So we weather the weather knowing all we need to know
For my lover and I may be homeless but neither of us is dumb
Now let’s get back to the infant son and the fear of it’s adolescence
Because as we know children can often be rambunctious and rude
In the heat of mid-day we suffer an adult son’s insolence
And being fully grown it only treats us kindly when its in the mood

Here I am ready to obey You, God,
The Supreme Commander Who gave His marching order…
This mandate He imperatively expressed in Matthew 28:18-20
Of the Holy Scriptures:
“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
And of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever
I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway,
Even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Here am I committed to live for You, my Lord by Your grace
To give my utmost part and best in fulfilling the Great Commission
May I do so with earnestness…
Forbid me to make a mere show of sincerity
In the guise of holiness, yet deceiving…
Forgive my guilty conscience, afflicted with shame’s pangs
As I seek Your kingdom first
Investing in Your business of righteousness.
Here is my heart, devoted to involve in Your work, my Master
Help me with Your Holy Ghost’s influence…
Please restrain me in exhibiting arrogant progress
In the power of my flesh…
Enable me to hide in Your might and surrender to Your leading
Conquering pride’s insolence
I need you so I can perform with faith
Sharing Your Gospel of salvation-security.
Here is my all, grateful to You, my Creator for Your granted privilege
To labour for Your Great Commission’s endeavor…
I accept Your assignment willingly, assured by Your compassion’s fire
To win souls, teach biblically, minister to others thru Your mercy
While walking with You, praying in the Spirit
Toward Your granted triumph with joy and peace…
Keep me in Your care, since without You, I am nothing
And that I can do all things thru You, my Strength*!
*Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Highland whispers, echoes of innocence
Noble virtues of man, bereft of insolence
Highland whispers... life's pristine existence.
I SALUTE THEE,OH MY GREAT SENSE,
YES MY SENSE OF FORGIVENESS,
IN FURY AND PAIN,IN INNOCENCE AND TRUTH,
I HAVE FORGIVEN THEE,
IN THE ART OF RESPECT AND IN THE HOPE OF HEALING,
I HAVE FORGIVEN ,
JOURNEYING THROUGH INDIFFERENCE,HATRED AND OVERBEARING
INSOLENCE,I HAVE FACED,HOPED AND EVEN FEARED FOR MY SPRING TO
COME,
I HAVE SEALED MY LIPS IN DEEP SILENCE AND WAITED SECRETLY,
I HAVE SUFFERED QUITELY,
I HAVE SEARCHED ENDLESSLY,
I HAVE STAYED FRIGID AND COLD JUST BECAUSE I REFUSE TO BREAK,
REFUSE TO YEILD TO THE CRUEL AND UNJUSTIFIED CHAINS OF THE
VICIOUS CIRCLE THAT SURROUND ME,
I STAND ALONE,
FACING ALL,EVEN IN THE MIDST OF THE UNCONCIOUS GLOOM AND COLD
DEFEAT,
HATING ALL,BUT SMILING,
YES INSANITY BUT BEING ALIVE,
I REMEMBER THOSE DARK NIGHTS CLOUDED WITH HAUNTING FEARS,
WHEN I CRIED LIKE AN ANGEL,
AND GOD ANSWERED MY PRAYERS,
I COULD FEEL A LIGHT BURNING INSIDE ME THEN,
YES A LIGHT OF WISDOM AND FAITH,
I KNEW THEN AS I PAINFULLY AND WITH DIFFICULTY UNDERSTAND NOW,
THAT TO REACH MY HEAVEN I REALLY HAVE TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCIES
THAT THIS MORTAL NATURE OF MAN DISPALYES UPON ME,
I WILL HAVE TO FIGHT,FACE AND SOMETIMES HEAR,
THE DECEIT,THE INJUSTICES,THE JEALOUSIES,
THE CORRUPTION OF TRUTH,
AND I WILL LIVE THROUGH EVERYTHING,
I HAVE LEARNED TO FORGIVE THE BITTERNESS IN LIFE,
I SAVE MYSELF FROM DEFEAT,
I KNOW I WILL SURVIVE TO REACH THE BEST,
BECAUSE GOD WHISPERS HOPE INSIDE OF ME,
COURAGE TOO,THAT IS MY PRIDED SHIELD.

Trilogy 1) Alice and Vincent
2) The Mask
The one in black
Dapper, sinister with a sharpened string harp
Melodies to defeat the bravest of souls
Can’t go back
Slithering down the rabbit hole
Out of control
You would never know
Tossing smiles
Knifes slice up pink hearts
Stay away, stay away
Stay away from me
Stay away
From the stranger
Avoid the danger
The dandelions always come back
The bourbon flows behind the mask
Let the rabbit crawl
Out of the hole
Look in his eyes
You will see no soul
My eyes are filled with empty gods
Given up on all you lot
Let the devil have his way
Let the darkness make me sway
Haven’t got a bullet to end it all
I just know I have been the fool
The lost one behind the mask
I am not up to the final task
Weep on the floor
Sweep me away
In my three piece suit
You have no idea
The demons who play
Screams and laughter
Screams and pain
Musical insolence
Piano keys dance in my head
I don’t want you to leave me
I don’t want you to know me
Go away
I am the one in the mask
Softy they cry out my name
