Best Infecting Poems

Premium Member A Tribute

This is a well deserved tribute that I'd like to share
For those wonderful people working in our health care
Doctors, nurses, paramedics and admin staff too
Auxiliaries and cleaners risking their lives for you.

All over the world ex health staff answered a call
To form with ex colleagues a formidable wall
Against the Coronavirus that's bringing death and misery
Infecting thousands of people in every country.

Many people have come forward offering their services too
Performing none medical tasks that nurses often do
And those vulnerable people who are living in isolation
Looked after by volunteers bringing food and medication.

Father Beradelli an Italian priest his life he did give
Refusing a ventilator so that a younger person might live
The list of good deeds by strangers whom we'll never know
Would fill volumes of books and continues to grow.

The army, police and fire-fighters are playing a part too
Trying to keep some normality for me and for you
Shops and supermarket staff too are on the front line
Delivery drivers moving goods to secure a lifeline.

There are many more unseen heroes not mentioned here
But memories of their actions we will always hold dear
You the reader can play your part even one small kind deed
By helping neighbours and strangers in their hour of need.

It Don'T Matter

Come close, come closer ...
let me bend your ear, my estranged countrymen
It don’t matter to me
if you’re a Democrat or a Republican
Your political persuasion
is of no concern of mine
Me be a global citizen,
parochial politics, I’m not so inclined
National jingoes
don’t make me do patriotic monkey shines
Us free thinkers,
we got an elevated state of mind
Listen here citizen Democrat,
don’t be no left-wing party socialist cheese eating rat
Listen up citizen Republican,
don’t be no right-wing party capitalist mice eating cat
It don’t matter to me
what your politics be
It don’t matter to me
if you’re a Republican or Democrat
Independently speaking,
neither party got any good stats
So vote however you please,
it simply don’t matter to me
I’m a global citizen,
don’t have no national self-interest
What’s good for humanity is what I want best
Are you listening citizen Democrat,
are you hearing me citizen Republican?
If America is one body,
how is it that the left and right hand ain’t shaking?
They both don’t do enough compromise,
they both love to spew party propaganda lies
History just repeating itself,
another divided house destined to die
Fighting against each other
Civil War
Brother pitted against brother
Rich against poor
Democracy now seeking cover,
done voted themselves a dictator lover
But none of that matters to me ...
I ain’t no Democrat or Republican
No, my friends,
I’m a practicing voter vegan
Don’t have no red meat party allegiance,
got no partisan politics infecting me
I’m a global citizen, 100 percent absolutely
So whatever your politics be,
it don’t matter to me ...
I’m above the fray,
I’m free thinker range-free

Humanity

God makes perfect everything on earth
for humans and plants to coexist with each other
plants give humans the power to heal and the nutrients to survive
humans provide the CO2 and organic remains for plants to live

But we should be very afraid of the invisible blackholes
They suck everything good on its path - the ones you love, the things you love
The blackholes strengthen its gravity feeding on human desires
Consuming the hearts with an incurable poison - Greed

Twisted truths and sugar-coated lies eroding the souls
Inventing wars to grab ancestral lands and resources
Politicizing faith spreading wildfire infecting all
Rivers and oceans polluted by subconscious pride

For those who stands in the way, no innocents are spared
Swallowing in deep subliminal thoughts stirring in a pot of ink
A whirlpool circling downwards to the bottom end
If we don't let go of our greed, we will never find peace

Only when peace enters the mind and into our inner selves
Will we learn to let go of all material things
Be in the presence of nature to enjoy the gentle beckoning
of a breeze that caresses the faces from all walks of life

Premium Member A Great Unease

A great unease has come, quite slow to flee.
To some it brings woe twofold. Constantly,
I feel its breath upon me though I pray
to see it gone. Instead, it’s wont to stay -
infecting me with insecurity.

And if it were a thing that we could see,
an albatross I’d guess that it would be -
with feathers changed from white to dingy grey. . .
a great unease.

This fretful thing that smells of misery
has spread its wings and grows relentlessly.
I sensed it in my land the fateful day
twin towers fell and blue sky turned to grey.
Events since spiraled, leaving not just me. . .
a great unease.

Premium Member Poetry On Trial

Poetry on trial?

I’m going to indict poetry, for infecting my soul
Does it serve any purpose, or has it lost control
This may seem quiet strange, perhaps unorthodox
Peruse this if you will, whilst it’s head layeth on the block

No need for a foundation, build it in the clouds
But it does require structure, interwoven by shrouds
Mocks me with Humpty Dumpty, as my life falls to bits
Sends me down a path, of bifurcation and twists.

Yes poetry is stealthy, it attacks from every side
Attempting to outflank you, then pounces in surprise
Soon levity returns, it wants to chill you out
Where did this come from, shaketh your head in doubt.

Bow before it in deference, or leap into the sky
Cut to pieces on razor wire, see the birds that flyeth by
Pit Romeo and Lothario, in a competition of charms
Find a new born baby, dead in its mother’s arms.

Send shivers down ones spine, Hairs stand on your neck
Deal out a winning hand, then rearrange the deck
Be a photon of light, amongst trillions on our sun,
Reminisce ole times, when life beheld such fun.

Be scarred by it’s violence, Drawn into the mystique,
Blown away by the punchline, The havoc it can wreak
Drown in melancholy, or bathe in its delight
Overcome tragic heartbreak, awestruck by it’s might.

Empathize with the poor, in their cornucopia of dirt,
Curse the wealthy no better, in their hubris of self-worth,
Surrounded by loved ones, on your terminal breath,
Then Cryo-frozen in a machine, trying to forgo death.

So yes I’ve tried poetry, it was given a fair trial
Now to pass sentence, and do so, with some style
I condemn it to life, with no chance of parole
Simultaneously I grant pardon, for it’s me who lost control.

Corona Virus

I am a terrible virus, fast and wise
400 micron plus is roughly my size
I am a zoonotic, Corona is my name
Infecting unwary humans is my game

I remain on ground and not in the air
To catch careless humans unaware
On a metal surface I survive for 12 hours
After that period I lose all my powers

If I fall on fabrics I stay alive for 9 hours
To kill me, the fabrics need good showers
Or a 2-hour exposure to bright sunshine
Will succeed in sending me forever offline

I can survive 10 minutes on human hands
Handwash with a sanitizer can upset my plans
Exposing me to temperatures of 27o C plus
Will send me to RIP without any fuss

My conduciveness to pandemic brings me fame
Leaking into the human lungs is my aim
Countries get panicky as my presence is felt
Commotion everywhere to seek a safety belt

My name evokes terror in every mind
Doctors get worried as I’m a unique kind
Old vaccines and medicines do not work
Fear of my presence makes the people berserk

Race, nationality is of no concern to me
I invade places as far as my eye can see
Changing greeting customs is also my flair
From handshakes to folded hands in the air

Whosoever comes in my way I do not spare
Whether Presidents or cobblers I don’t care
People feel greatly relieved when I die away
They pray that I don’t resurrect another day

It

It grows
beneath the surface
It grows
Behind the curtain

It grows
And when it is seen
It’s too late
It’s there to stay

It is like a gas
Hovering
Following
Enveloping those

In its Smokey tendrils
Entrapping
Clinging like brambles
To clothes

It coils itself
Around
Tighter and tighter
It sits

By the ear
And hisses
Cruel music
To those unaware

Invisible It follows
Infecting the world
With its murky gloom
Making the future black

The world stops turning
Reverts to standing still
And it clings still
Holding in an unloving embrace

It’s like an impenetrable bubble
Of pain
Hatred reverberating back inside
While kindness sits beyond its walls

Kindness does not wait
It sits for only a while
Then leaves
Leaves you with it

Clawing for freedom
Does not work
For it infects deep
It becomes you

Escape can only come
From the outside
But the world is blind to it
So we sit

Afraid to make a sound
And it grows bigger
‘Tell there is no telling
The difference between you

And it

Until suddenly
It Fades
Gone for good?
Not likely

It always returns
It’s just away
Visiting family
Or taking a break

But it’s enough
Long enough
Long enough to speak
Long enough for the world to hear you

Long enough to be ready
When it comes back
Maybe you won’t be unarmed
Maybe you won’t be alone

But only if you speak

Who Ate My Pizza

Johnny stutters when he's nervous
Gina skipped to school one day
Janice lost her favorite ruler
In the backyard yesterday

Where is my pizza
It was in the microwave
Someone came and ate it up
And left the crumbs right here

Corona virus spreading fast
Wash your hands and wear a mask
The weak will die the strong survive
We need to breathe to stay alive

Who took my pizza
I put it in the microwave
Someone greedy ate it up
Left the crumbs right on the bed

Stomp your feet and stand up proud
Clap your hands and pray...
We are the survivors
Survivors of a pandemic plague
Still roaming for victims
It's airborne infecting prey

Time is running out the door
Sun is setting on our shores
People come and people go
Love is all that's left to show

You're the one that's meant for me
The woman of my fantasies
I've set my sails on charted course
Soon I'll be anchoring at your port

Who ate my pizza
Someone will have to pay
Is it Gina, Janice or Johnny
Send delivery by the way

Who ate my pizza
It was in the microwave
Someone left an empty plate
The pepperoni's in my brain

Premium Member A Rogue Black Bear

The Black Bears roam the mountain top
Just before Dawn, you hear the “Hooo”
The mating call Incessant : “ STOP!! “
Infects the mind, infecting : “ YOU “

My Black Soul travels Everywhere
The Black Bears roam the mountain top
My Dreams : I am a Rogue Black Bear
“Hooo” “Hooo” “Hooo” ; I too, can not “STOP!! “

Hallucinogens : “ Quite a Crop “
Growing along the Forest floor
The Black Bears roam the mountain top
Eating Weeds off the Forest floor

Insanity, Reality
Imagination : “Do not “STOP””
Wandering Through “ Eternity “
The Black Bears roam the mountain top

Premium Member When Nature Moans

Of late, nature moans inside a scraped womb
As her lush environ FLOUNDERS breaks out…
Played like a trusting NEOPHYTE from woods to rivers
She endures the BOMBAST of dirt through man’s crimes:

Awaiting kindness …amends remain undone
While LECHEROUS deeds persist without guilt, why, why?
More wrongs ravage innocent fish and flora
Infecting her very marrow, to drain away.

Loot, SMOLDER, rip a body ! Time runs out.
Mother Earth answers through bloodied jolts…
By will of PROVIDENCE, she whips a storm without INHIBITION
Halting indifference, her fire scalds air’s layers,
A battle citizens might grow DOLOROUS over--
Until her soul is nourished back, till she moans no more.

Premium Member My Truths

Falling down to my splintering knees,
Heaven or Hell, the stone will be cast.
Like whiplash, the ground beneath me begins to crack open
As my truth is played out against an apocalyptic backdrop.
                        Sins weighed against my empathic
                        compassion,
Caught in riptides of my darkness; will light save me?
Flames lick against my flesh as the vultures circle around.
Pleading to the heavens, I swear my truths are sincere.
I pushed back against those incessant inner
           demons
As they flirted with the devil.
But my sanity assimilated, and I plunged down that pit.
Sins took hold, infecting, infesting; the damage that
            was already done.
I plead for your unconditional mercy:
Don’t let the razor teeth tear me apart.

Sinful Beauty Spare Me

Beauty bleeds through skin
Infecting all which festers
So deep within
The skeletons cary such secrets
To disgrace and shame Gorgeous
Saying it no longer forgets

We both know what's going on
Spare us the pain
Please, just walk away
You're like a magnet and I'm the steel
It's surfaced and reared its sinful head
Would I partakein this temptation?

Beauty leaves me scrambling,
Reaching for anything firm
Safety net's burnt
My closet's filling and going quick
I shouldn't have let myself fall for you
It's time I just quit

Premium Member Spare Me the Laughter, Please

    Antisemitism is back in vogue
thanks to a world gone rogue

Some say it’s a fairly recent disease
      spare me the laughter please

It’s been around ever since Patriarchal Days
infecting all of history, an age-old malaise …

Why did Jacob flee Esau, journeying to Haran
Esau would have murdered Jacob, had he not gone

And who did Jacob encounter at journey’s end
none other than Laban, at first a ‘good friend’

Laban invited Jacob to stay for free for thirty days
though he eventually swindled his nephew in so many ways

Lied to him again and again, switching his bride on his wedding night
endlessly changing his wages and working conditions – slight after slight

Finally told his nephew: Your wives are mine, as are your sheep
expecting Jacob would bend to slavery without so much as a peep

But to Laban, Jacob never once did bow… instead he fled
then challenged Esau’s 400 men, backing them down…

Murderous Esau, freedom-denying Laban, cooked up twin recipes
for legions of antisemites down through the ages, into our century

Premium Member You and I Can Smile

We can smile like a child who does not know yet many things,
In simple things he’s satisfied, showing his contented feelings.

We can smile like a drunken man, feeling so drowsy and woozy,
Who sings and wears a smile , trying to forget and not to worry.

We can smile like a chimpanzee, who’s so happy with a banana
After giving us a big grin, we can leave him and write our stanza.

We can smile like my grandpa who dearly loves my grandma
Feeling Adonis with his strength, he’s never been into a stigma.

We can smile like blooming sunflowers on those summer days,
Despite the debilitating heat, we can still stand tall with grace.

We can smile like the sun that often shines so bright
Assuring that everyday you and I will gonna be alright.

We can smile and smile even the world sometimes wrenches our heart,
For sadness is a transient and in God’s love, He keeps us without a doubt.

You can smile just like me, who’s already experiencing a bad memory,
But I think I’ve nothing to worry about, for the computer does all for me.

At all times, you and I can wear a smile in any way we want
Infecting others to retain beauty, stay young in body and in heart.
