Who Ate My Pizza

Johnny stutters when he's nervous
Gina skipped to school one day
Janice lost her favorite ruler
In the backyard yesterday

Where is my pizza
It was in the microwave
Someone came and ate it up
And left the crumbs right here

Corona virus spreading fast
Wash your hands and wear a mask
The weak will die the strong survive
We need to breathe to stay alive

Who took my pizza
I put it in the microwave
Someone greedy ate it up
Left the crumbs right on the bed

Stomp your feet and stand up proud
Clap your hands and pray...
We are the survivors
Survivors of a pandemic plague
Still roaming for victims
It's airborne infecting prey

Time is running out the door
Sun is setting on our shores
People come and people go
Love is all that's left to show

You're the one that's meant for me
The woman of my fantasies
I've set my sails on charted course
Soon I'll be anchoring at your port

Who ate my pizza
Someone will have to pay
Is it Gina, Janice or Johnny
Send delivery by the way

Who ate my pizza
It was in the microwave
Someone left an empty plate
The pepperoni's in my brain

Nice work. We need to cling to the remnants of our lives and not let Covid be all we dine on. Nice contrast. Glad you are still posting Best regards David in NZ

Very entertaining, and the music compliments it really well, Arturo! A slice of pizza (humor) in these troubled times does us good, so it's no surprise yours has disappeared:) ~ Regards // paul

Almost like the nursery rhyme, Ring-a-round-the -rosies. Light, whimsical and yet a pandemic is looming.

The innuendoes of reality mixed in with a slice of humour, one of your best Arturo, much enjoyed, not the pizza, I didn't get to eat it, the lyrics of the poem with the music had me straight on the phone ordering one, to which I will be guarding with my life . . . ; )

I had to send another comment, you must trust me that I won't still come for this pizza Arturo, the plate in the microwave is empty, you never know my friend. The crust is what I love but it is crumbling before our very eyes! Love and hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

The poem itself is like pizza. The ingredients are the people and the world we live in is the crust. Cool.

Here you show that amid all the panic and fright we are dealing with life still goes on. We must still go to work or starve to death when money runs out. We must still live with each other. We must still go about our daily lives come epidemic, pandemic or the common cold we must still live as normally as possible. Great write. God Bless, JB

I don't have Corona. I was asking my doctor hypothetically. My sister far away from me has it now and it's very painful she says. She will pull through but I feel so sad for the pain her small family is enduring.

taking note of what you said below, yes, some strong have actually died from Corona, but every year thousands die from flu. One year, close to 800,000, but economies were not closed down in that year. Also we are being withheld really good treatments that I've heard of people taking. I talked to my doctor and he said he would not give me certain things that I know for a fact have helped some of my friends. This makes me so angry! Why are we being lied to and not given better help? Peace out!

I know, the people in high places are not telling us the whole story...so we get bits and pieces...Whatever it is...I don't want it...if it can kill me or not...keep it far away...

What an extraordinary poem, Arturo. A combination of whimsical and painful. Especially love the image created by the last line! Even medical professionals wearing masks and taking precautions sometimes suffer an encounter with the virus. Can't imagine how we'll ever eradicate it; there are some who will resist taking a vaccine. Great to read your work again, Arturo! Hugs, Carolyn
