A Rapid Impact

A breathless voice hissed from just behind the child’s
left ear,
he glanced back
to see no one there,
his mind was filled with the thought of death,
his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath,
and as if he had been running,
his face in the mirror darkened suddenly,
his emotions would hide,
his eyes wide,
his mind flips,
then a silent vow seemed to emanate
from his tightening lips,
he feels his heart rate,
racing,
his emotions now pacing,
his sanity dissolving before his very eyes,
he then feels some inner cries,
the child stared,
unblinking at his reflection,
he feared,
then a ghost appeared,
with a flicker of poorly concealed distress
in her eyes,
“ Run!”
Then in a second, before it was done,
it had to be fate,
because it was simply too late,
reality displayed a fact,
and the home invasion had a rapid impact.

Premium Member Be Conscious

you have no idea
how much power
you wield
a word a smile
a minute of your time
enough to touch a soul
to shatter or heal a heart
be conscious of your strength
you have the capacity
to be superhero
or archvillain

let's make this world
a better place
there’s thirst for harmony
and need for healing

Impact

She birthed me a star...
Her inner galaxy well travelled.

Seized by womb impact...
Silence - Rattled

Tone tormented yet blissful sigh...

Return to the source - yield rescue the cry...

Triumph this claim as we draw near...
Partake in this memory...

We both share.

Impact Your Ni

Impact Your World!

World gives birth to worlds
Planet interacting with other planets
Knowledge acquisition that makes no impact
Is like a stagnant water that will soon be full of shits
Impact your world!

Many talents lying unused
I can do this , do that , yet no action
Living in isolation, helping no others
Family, friends not having a feel of your world
Surely such world without impact will soon go rust
Impact your world!

Course mates recognize you not
Or you are simply known making trouble
Roomies praying that you should never come back home
Yet you raised your shoulders high saying "they are scared of me"
Is this how your world will die in isolation?

With your pride, can you rule your world?
Self esteem, being egocentric will surely limit you
If you are offline for two days and no one care to ask you "why"
Maybe you are yet to impact your worlds

Leaders are born, leaders are made
Let your world be bigger than the rest
Let your impacts be felt every where you go
Will your course mates ever miss you for good?
Or would they jubilate with the joy of not being in class with you anymore after graduation?
Impact your world

Be an entrepreneur, businesses rule the world
Work on your talent, it will take you to the top
Your certificate should be a prestige and not a yardstick for riches
Be realistic, you are very unique
No limitations, impact your world!

In your work place, church or mosque
Are you a pest, liabilities or an asset?
Be a boss that employ not the one seeking to be employed
Create opportunities don't fight on those available so little
You need to dare, believe me, your world could be larger than that of Dangote
Impact, help, teach, learn , take risk and never stop
Live not in the shadow of others
Be yourself, be responsible for your action
Courageous , selfless, humble and outshine not your masters
For your world shouldn't be in for rivalry but uniqueness , standing out
Impact your world!

"A man without an impact, is worse than a valueless object"
Make a good impact!

Stadium full of Fans
Many paint face and bod
Human refrigerators trod
A play surface just as odd
Both chemically enhanced
Opposing teams do their dance
Fans bellow and prance
Knights without Horses
Joust back and forth
Jersey covered Armor
Enhances their girth
Beating the other team
Elevates their worth

Digital age, digital technology, digital people
Digital adds to life
Digital subtracts from life
But why?
Because:
People make things
People change things
People use things
People abuse things
So:
Digital education for everyone
Then:
Digital technology for everyone
Young and old, rich and poor, here and there
Reboot society
Reboot life
Reboot digital!

The Local Impact

The bakery on the corner
“Closed” spread across the door

The grocery gathering dust
Will open again no more

Gone is the ice cream shop
A child screams and cries

All of this can happen
When a local business dies

The people know what happened
They didn’t want to say

Their products might be better
But shops open inconvenient times a day

They claim that its much easier
To shop the supermarket that's next door

The bad thing is that this leaves
The local business owners poor

How can we stop this issue?
How can we take a stand?

If you wish to see a change
Then your mind you must expand

You need to buy their products
Their stores you must promote

You need to fight for town character
Help keep local businesses afloat

Impact of Drugs

My childhood had a severe lack of love
I had to pick myself up anytime I fell
Waking up from nightmares without a family to tell
I've never touched them, but I've felt the impact of drugs

Born into a family where being a new born being wasn't enough
My cries were unheard and I was ignored when I was needing a hug
It's always difficult when you're speaking about blood
But I can't run from the fact I wasn't as important as needles and drugs

I was just a child in foster care who felt like I was less important than drink and drugs
I don't believe in it, is how I'd answer when people ask what I think of love
I was told to put my hand out if I needed help, but my families hand was missing
In my eyes my family chose drink and drugs over me I was too young to understand addiction

Foster care saved me from having to see my brother and sister injecting smack
Through every struggle and heartbreak there's a lesson attached
Being taken away from your family hurts, but it was to make my life less painful
It taught me that even in your nightmares you can find some angels

As a teen depression took control of me and kept me locked in like a cage
Foster families to children's homes, my family didn't know or care that I was self-harming with blades
I'm far from perfect, but at least I'm honest about my shortcomings and flaws
As a broken child, I judged you for being addicts, but by not being there you taught me I had to find my own way out of a maze

Since my birth I've had to be in survival mode
I put my pain on paper and hope people see it as a sign I've overcome my troubles and not a suicidal note
I've made a few missteps but I couldn't allow the obstacles to rival growth
Despite my childhood, I'm the only member of my family who's never touched drugs, the cycle's broke

A Positive Impact

Night and day, a thrashing
     like an invisible whiptail

doth swell me bosom

such gloriously noble benighted role,
    amidst upending folktale

re: King Arthur and His Knights
     of the Round Table
     futilely searching for holy grail
where steadfast conviction

within this spurious verse despite

Premium Member Blue Dress' Impact

Blessed by God* to fulfill varied multi-faceted roles
Dressing-up well is vital among my functional goals.

Notable are engagements prodding me to don special blue raiment
And recalling them gives me delightful excitement.

As Dad’s first daughter, I had a light blue that propped my princess’ poise
Enthralling my heart, that blissfully approved Mom’s best choice.

Then there was a royal blue, expressing my communication zest
Making me look dignified ‘til I triumphed in my high school oratorical contest.

Years later, I wore a powder blue, meant for my dear brother’s wedding
Accordingly accentuating my composure while tears of joy kept shedding.

With my emceeing skills, I’ve been asked to serve as program host
Hence exposing blue dresses’ hues and shades of jubilant mood’s post.

In our clan reunion, I was in my Mom’s blue dress with mirth’s pleasure
Sure enough, I received comments I believe were compliments’ treasure.

Thus is me with my blue dress’ history
Revealing a part of my personality in this poetic expository.

Life is a game of chance
sometimes forbidden
far from reach.
Ignited...
but destined for doom.
   ~~~
Sometimes it dares you
 to step up and take
 all the winnings.
   ~~~
Sometimes the
attraction fades quickly
but sometimes...
fleeting moments can impact
changing an entire life.

Roses are black and white,

 and many hues between.
Violets are dying on this cemetery scene,

sunken in grief as they rest on gravestones,
still as the dirt that covers cold bones.

 Your body's rotting, concealed below,
yet your prints remain, and like seeds they grow

beyond my skin where they once landed,
into my heart, to others expanded.

Your immeasurable impact will always last
 beyond the gone, unreachable past.

This sad, somber place completely fails
to capture all your full life entails.

A simple dash sums up your living years.
There's no form or voice in this silent place of tears.

Just a stone memento displays who we lack.
Only memories and time will bring you back.

The Impact

Arising from my humble
     home
  on the Lower East Side
I send out my messages
Intending to trouble the "wise and the great"
  with my words
Icy winds will soon
     be blowing here
  but the words keep coming
They - As I said - are reaching the brains
of the "wise and the great"
    What impact they will have
   is known to
none
   Once you are out there
you are "EXPOSED"

Sudden Impact
