Best High Spirited Poems
We were all much younger, happier then,
And untouched by heartache, sadness;
In dreams, we go back again and again,
And bring to our hearts gladness!
From Grandpa Frank, father of the Fields,
And Miss Pauline, who married his boy;
The hand of fate's no longer concealed,
As countless descendents live the joy.
When we were young, our parents were, too,
And each day was a new surprise;
When we were young, all skies were blue,
And life was sunrise, apple pies!
In the good old days, we laughed a lot,
And were high spirited and free;
And remembered what time had forgot,
And was unable to foresee.
In the beginning, we were carefree,
Back in those young love days;
I caught a glimpse of all eternity,
Once, in the good old days!

Kindergarten Teacher
Kind when she shares her bologna sandwich.
Imaginative when she has to use Q-tips to teach.
Nurturing to teeter totter injuries.
Daring when rescuing an mystery object from the toilet.
Earnest when explaining this adventure to her principal.
Responsible for helping 23 children put on 23 coats and getting all 23
to the bus on time.
Gentle when covering boo-boos with impossible to open bandaids.
Aimiable when greeting parents.
Resourceful when finding uses for 75 popsicle sticks.
Tactful when explaining Timothy's new permanent marker freckles to
his mother.
Energetic when chasing a dog off the playground.
Nose blowing expert.
Talented when using a pipe cleaner to replace a lost shoe lace.
Elated with a new set of blocks.
Afraid of itchy heads.
Capable of jumping rope in heels on the playground.
High spirited when there is a snow day.
Excited about caterpillars.
Ready for nap time!

Acrostic
Baring his artistic brilliancy
On the canvas he painted
For a like minded soul
To absorb and appreciate his beauty
His paint is electrifying
He's a high spirited wild horse
Unchained
Running across the planes
of his imagination
Unleashing his passions
from deep inside
He's a shot of adrenaline
Who shoots through the veins
Of another artists dreams
To be just as untamed and free
Inspired by Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen

Here's a time honoured expression
Wild horses couldn't keep me away
Methinks that's pretty much a fallacy
Their power is an awesome display
Wild horses are majestic animals
Roaming free o'er the plains of Nevada
Manes flowing, hoofs a-pounding
They perform their lively cantata
Aristocrats of the animal kingdom
Called Mustangs in the U.S.A.
In Australia they're known as Brumbies
Each performs an equine ballet
Reclusive high-spirited stately stallions
Reside on a huge open range
This pompous and regal force of nature
A beauty that resists being tamed

When I was a kid, my hero was Huckleberry Finn,
his outlook, and conditions under which he lived,
especially his feelings about school,
I just knew, I had to get cool.
Devil be damned, it was a good way,
I would give it a try for a couple of days.
Off I went early on a summer morn,
after eight hours sleep; it was recommended,
in that day.
I set off to pirate and seek my way,
no plan, but high spirited anyway.
When mom discovered I was nowhere to be found,
she set the police to run me to ground,
did not take long, sitting on a bench,
barefooted, wearing dads old straw hat;
eating an apple from great aunties tree.
Yep, Huckleberry would be proud of me.
When I got home, the reaction,
not quite what I dreamed, no girl in the end,
I got brained instead; figured I had better find
another hero before I got dead.
Now my hero is most like me,
his name is Goofy.

A Day by the River
Sailing the high sea on the river,
Sinking while staying afloat,
Think I’m in danger of drowning,
Where would I find me a boat?
Nice here down by the river,
Floods caused the bed to dry up.
Eat Treacle & Anchovy sandwich,
Drink tea, from a broken egg cup.
Urchins who live near the river,
Fish for Sea Bass, using a kettle.
They may have caught a young Cray,
To bake it with seaweed and nettle.
Fairies with wings by the river,
Nibble mushroom with Ginger beer.
This is not typical fairy behavior,
High spirited, they wish me good cheer.
Skim pebbles across the dry river,
Seagulls fire shots to my nose.
Call a Mute Swan, but get no answer,
Damn duck, pecked off my clothes.
Very dark now, here by the river,
The sunshine is hot, beating down.
I’m walking right into the water,
An inconvenient way back to town.
Time’s come, to leave here the river,
Attacked by a shark on the shore.
It came for the barbecue party,
But prefer my leg that it tore.
When I wake up, I’m not by the river,
My pyjamas are soaked toe to head.
It transpires, I’m not by the river,
But dreaming, and just wet the bed.

We rise like her with full hopes and faith,
High-spirited to challenge whatever is at stake;
Aware of our greatness and every past mistake,
feeling strong, all powerful to deal with the day
enduring and heaving all life’s bales of hay.
But even the almighty sun has her gloomy days,
as when dark clouds sabotage her luminous rays.
Even the powerful sun cries silently in the rain;
In every tear drop lies a hidden pain.
Even the sun needs to reflect and withdraws;
Respecting and embracing all Nature’s laws.
Even the sun watches storms pass by
because there’s time to glow and there’s time to cry ;
but early in the morning she rises again
as if untouched by the hurdles of the previous day ;
she rises beautifully, powerful and in all light
because she has love, warmth and wisdom in her heart.
No clouds, no rain, no storm diminishes her spirit,
She is who she is, she knows her mission
And we rise with her in faith and glory
To write and fulfill every chapter in our story.

I wonder what he was thinking, the man
mounted on a stool, with his elbows resting on the bar,
eating a Big Mac and sipping coffee from a McCafe coffee cup.
The outside view he was watching through the glass wall
is the flickering lights over the parking lot and
the sounds of galloping horses on the road.
As usual, among those galloping horses,
some may be carrying today, which is heavier than the day,
on his aching back, while others run with full speed
looking forward to a better tomorrow;
yet, there is a horse, like one of the remnants of a defeated army
who fought the difficult battle where there is no today, no tomorrow,
but struggle after struggle of dogfight and defeat, dragging his feet
with a heavy burden.
Since there is no color or outline of an object in the dark
you are unable to distinguish one horse from the other,
such as the high-spirited grand Shire, the tiny amiable Falabella,
the gracefully elegant Akhal-Teke, or the Mule, born to carry heavy
load till dies.
That’s why the darkness is beautiful,
it doesn’t have a color like the death; yet,
it’s not comparable to the darkness of the grave
because it’s only the flip side of the day. It will drag
you into the light, compel you to see the sun in the morning.
As coffee gets colder, the smell of coffee goes away,
and further, the taste of coffee becomes bitter with elapsing time.
Then, from the empty feeling of missing something, he bites into
the hamburger held in his hand and hears the “moo…” the last cry
of a sorrowful cow dragged into a slaughter house.
Though death is, beautiful if it’s accompanied by a dirge,
the moment of death by force is, although the soul may be
lighter than a feather, a lot heavier than the weight of the world.

In the sky's dark clouds
amazing sounds by lightning
Anger of thunder
Silver droplets form
making disputes freezing cold
Now the time to sing
High spirited song
forces to jump up and bounce
God's blessing rain fall

Helping hearts to wipe every tear
Happenstance happenings that herald cheer
Heart warming hopeful events to make covid disappear
High-spirited hilarious friends always near
Hale and hearty body, end of all despair
Harmonious relationships heralding heaps of love so dear
Healing, humane people, holidays hugs and everything that makes miseries blear

Alliteration
They were playing quite nicely,
My pride and my joy;
My two small, blonde daughters
And my redheaded boy.
Then I heard a commotion.
"Oh, what is it now?"
Their friendly, quiet game
Had turned into a row.
Sometimes he teased them
Until they got mad
And ran in to tell me
That Brother was bad.
I could hear them coming
Of the outrage to tell;
Stumbling and crying
Until both of them fell.
They were dressed for a party
In outfits the same.
If they had mussed their dresses
It would be such a shame.
They both talked at once.
I could not make it out
What this unforgivable,
Terrible deed was about.
I called him to ask
"What is it you've done?"
And my high spirited, mischievous,
Lovable son
Stood ready for punishment
As straight as a rod
And admitted he'd called them
"Two Peas In A Pod."
Won first in two peas in a pod contest.

Light Verse
I will never forget the cold fateful day my son said,
Hey mom, can I have a dog so we can play.
After much thought and laying down the rules,
We stopped by our local animal shelter one day after school.
Harley was a high spirited handful right from the start,
He had boundless energy but a gentle heart.
Our Golden Retriever a fence would not keep him in,
He would run away from home time and time again.
The passage of time seems to have mellowed our boy,
He is such a sweetheart it's hard not to spoil.
The years have passed quickly and he has slowed down,
But the love he has shown us still abounds.
I can hardly fathom the thought of his life ever coming to an end,
Our loyal, faithful, forever friend.
Harley has been a joy, a gift from the start,
Our sweet boy who will always have a piece of our heart.

Light Verse
Live your life like fun , don't cry for wrong and right...
When it comes to taste , you can't go for a balanced diet...
Times moves on and on , like rising and falling tides ...
Life is meant to face , so you can't restore to hides...
Flow spontaneously like a river , high spirited like the sky...
Be vibrant like the bird , and open your wings to fly....
Value each smile like pearl , though it may be pocket size...
Just believe you are the best , there your worth lies....
Toil to your heart's best , leave the rest to divine ...
When blessings combine with efforts , zero can be turned to NINE.....

Beyond The Closet Door Of Intimacy.
.
Behind the locked closet door of intimacy
Two kindred glowing hearts and high spirited souls aflame
Naked as birth awakened by desire and fevered lust
Set restricted inhibitions free
.
Natural urges take flight
Erogenous zones awakens with sweet painful butterfly kisses
Euphoric waves of bliss
Building lulling and peaking
Throughout a teasing heaven bound night
.
The beast unleashed
The Satyr satisfies the temptress siren
.
The soft warm lovers feathered nest
Abounds with tender care
Giving sharing and sweet caress
A voyage of discovery
On a deep ocean of sublime emotion
A welcoming exploration
Beyond mounded hill and sweeping vale
The rose glistens
The mast aloft
As together they head for home
As they sail
.
The rippling waves subdued
As the sun rised
Petals fold
And the stem reclines in the morning dew
.
Crumpled pillows crinkled warm sheets
The devine lavish feast now over
Mounting tension now blissfully released
Wrapped up safe and warm in each others arms
Embers aglow
Face to face and toe to toe
.
Loves bond strengthened by appreciation
And mutual gratitude
Whispered heartfelt words
And feather tender caresses
Enhance the sweetness and sensitivity
Of the mood.

“ Corona-itis”
“We, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish the Constitution for the United States of America”.
We will get through this, the bell of freedom will ring once more,
We hide behind masks and gloves; eyes averted,
Social distancing, harboring and manifesting fear,
of the insidious enemy.
We will get through this, the bell of freedom will ring once more,
Signs: “Closed until Further Notice” will be torn down, replaced with
“Open for Business”.
Restaurants will welcome diners once again and there
will be singing in concert halls, drama on the stage,
Sports arenas will be filled with cheering crowds.
We will get through this, the bell of freedom will ring once more,
vacant parks and school yards
will be bustling with joggers, dog walkers and active, high spirited children.
We will get through this, the bell of freedom will ring once more,
It has been said: “Freedom isn’t free”,
a poignant reminder in the wake of The Corona Virus.
