Best Heavy Hearted Poems

Even the Angels Wept

The day you died you took me with you,
The way you lied shook me black and blue.

The sorrow you felt, I sure felt it too,
The tomorrow dreams won’t come true.

All the good hello's turned into dying goodbye's,
All the to’s and fro’s burned holes in my eyes.

You thought you were so sly, but I always knew,
You fought so hard to die and knew I needed you.

Depressing mornings and nights of pure hell,
Lessening of warnings and sights when you fell.

Deprivation of your soul saving wonder,
Trepidation of your whole wavering thunder.

Heavy-hearted moments with stitches on your wrists,
Broken-hearted atonement with twitches on your fists.

Unheard thoughts engraved in your soul,
The third day I tried to save you...you lost control.

Forgiveness with a burden held on my left shoulder,
Impulsiveness when you're hurting, (I couldn't hold her).

     Bleeding and burning and
                                     living and dying....
                 Needing and turning and
                                           giving and crying....

It's been five long years since I’ve rested and slept,
I try to smile but in my dreams even the angels wept.

Day By Day

Waning love is a cold diamond thing
The hurt pressure
from the thought of losing you
is such a hard burden
Squeezing the hope out of me

Heavy-hearted acceptance ain’t easy,
especially when the weeping pang of separation
comes prematurely rushing through

Day by day,
I get premonition pulse signals of distress

Diamond bit by bit,
I receive this coal crushing feeling

And the hurt pressure
changes the beauty of what once did exist

Your vow of discontentment is tearing us apart
Day by day
Making our bond weaker
every 24/7 ...
I do feel a new heartbreak

Your ice cold eyes tell me the love flame
is no longer lit
As your heart becomes more
Diamond bit by bit

Pointed act of your future departure
pierces my mind deeply
As this soon-to-be severed heart pleads empty

Affectionate feelings voiced are on the decline,
your dispassionate vow sound
has a hollow golden ring

Echoes of neglected conciliatory healing
drowns my restless pain
in watery sheets of serrated discomfort

That jagged sharp sound,
thrust hard through my mate severed soul,
has a diamond sting
An asunder carat cutting my heart in half

Broken altar promise darkly coal uttered,
portends of your leaving

Those sacred two words,
once spoken with past caring intensity,
are now double troubling ...

And “I do” know why that is,
because you no longer desire me
Keeping your two-folded arm distance
is a cold diamond thing

As love on the wane wears the bosom hard bling-bling

Day by day,
my evening pillow dreams
get so very misty sigh moist softer

Diamond bit by bit,
my mourn awakenings
get teary pure carbon crystalline

Premium Member Come To Me

Stretched out on wing of weariness,
The total collapse of the flesh.
Arms and legs, limp and pitiless.
The world’s escarpments hurt..enmesh.

Come to me, says the one buried…
Who rose from the grave. Likewise grim,
With heaviness, her soul carried
To the foot of the cross…to Him.

The death bed’s a feather, so white.
Her guardian angel plucked from
her largesse…quintessence takes flight.
To heavy hearted, He says Come.

Decomposing in shallow grave,
But not so the soul…it is brave.

Premium Member The Death of the Muse

She was a pretty muse
As far as muses go
He said she had about her
An incandescent glow

There was a certain mischief
He saw there in her eyes
And though he couldn’t touch her
He’d tasted paradise

She made his mind to wander
Down honeysuckled lanes
A few moments with her
And he’d forget all his pains

She had such rosy lips
Cascading raven hair
And though he could not touch her
He felt her presence there

She made him feel euphoric
She knew how to beguile
Was it the words she spoke?
Or the magic of her smile?

She was a pretty muse
As far as muses go
But it did seem of late
That she was losing her glow

The muse sat and wondered
At what had dimmed her light
In playing hide and seek
Was she lost of his sight?

She thought to seek him out
When to her great surprise
She found him much bewitched
By another Muse’s eyes

At once all of her sparkle
Her charm and beauty too
Blew away with the wind
She pondered what to do

The muse just simply smiled
Blew a kiss towards his face
She changed into a fairy
Flew away without a trace

At times when the dear poet
Sit downs to write a rhyme
He finds the words are lost
And he gets lost to time

He wonders about the muse
And in the flicker of candle light
He can’t see the little fairy
Just sparkles in the night

The heavy hearted poet
Is out of poetic tune
He killed his inspiration
He killed her off too soon

But then again the fairy
Smiles at him from afar
She knows her work is done
Now she’s just a guiding star.

Clan Call

Tearing gusts of highland winds dim the sound of pipes
No one knows and no one sees and no one sets it right,
Heavy hearted sadness carries, other souls who went ahead,
Ghosts of kindred spirits living now or living dead,
Running through the gorse and heather wishing for a horse to ride,
Disregarding wind and weather, Grim, the reaper by my side.
Places I would rather see.... Home's still where I yearn t' be,
I'll never have you there with me... 'tis lost...
both love
and pride

Those we love don't go away
They walk beside us every day

          **************

Specters in the Wind
they are still here,
gathering in powerful gusts,
heavy-hearted and somber,
riding the crimson breath of night,
as embers drifting through the air.

They converse through the storm swell;
their laughter loops in lilac breezes.
While their sorrow seeps into the earth.
Not gone,
but concealed in mist, in the veins of tree bark,
and the birthmarks of stone.

They traverse the wheat that sways in the wind.
Their footsteps forever frozen in time.
Every echo is their letter.
Every shadow represents a phrase,
from the script of spirits
who refuse to depart.

Their touch resonates with the rumble of thunder.
and their sigh becomes woven
into the seams of daybreak.
They don't sleep; they swirl.
They don't flee; they flash.
They don't perish; they delve deeper.

Every time you speak their name aloud,
you awaken to a tempest in the skies.

A memory ,a thought out of the blue
Unexpected moments reminded of you
Teared filled eyes and a familiar pain
You are back with me in my world again.

Back to days when my life felt whole
We were on this earth together
Wish it had never changed
And you had stayed forever

My mind drifts to different times
Throughout the decades
Hope age never takes my mind
So the memory of you never fades

Thoughts of you comfort me
Emotions happy and heavy hearted
Grateful that we had our time
Sad that you departed

Memories of cuppa's
Walks and chats
Singing and endless laughter
Wonderful stories to share of you
That will continue forever after

You were a little eccentric
Unique and quaint
Mischievous to the core
Cheeky and funny
Born to dance
Generous without flaw

So small in stature
Yet tall in heart
With courage to inspire
A fighting spirit
A gracious soul
Honoured and admired

Soft small hands crooked with age
Gave so much comfort and kind
I yearn to hold those hands again
If only one more time

When you left I fell apart
Struggled everyday
Time does ease the grief
Just doesn’t take it away

The circle of life took you away
To your heaven in the sky
The hollow now in my heart
Mere words cannot describe

Premium Member Involuntary Tears

It starts behind the eyes, a quiet pressure,
No permission asked, no invitation sent.
A sudden, salty, heavy-hearted measure
Of moments that I thought were fully spent.
I am walking, breathing, doing what is needed,
When gravity shifts inward to the chest,
And I am forced to pause, however unheeded,
To let the burning, broken waters rest.

These are not the screams that set a spirit free,
But slow, stubborn thieves that drain the light.
They slip down silently, drawing what used to be,
A cold, unwelcome shadow in the bright.
I hate how they blur the faces I am loving,
How they steal the voice and make me small,
Just a traitorous, quiet, involuntary sobbing,
Against the sturdy, high, and hidden wall.

Fly Home to Our Nest

In time an arms length away

I flew into the bird cage

Seeking a nest, following the others

As we connected and made it homely

The bars changed into windows

And doors

Then a place where we were all happy, together

Now, after two years of friendships, new and old

The cage-turned-community, near-sighted

Closed its eyes and turning away from the inevitable

Then the day hit 25

Everyone, dressed up

Dancing our hearts away

Turning blind eyes to the looming warmth of hottest season

Then the lights turned on

And the music stopped

Our hearts stopped too

Our eyes losing their lids, forced to witness the end

Our hearts, reminiscing

One by one, each bird left the nest, heavy-hearted

All unready, some with resignation, some with acceptance, to migrate so soon

Some flapping off together in search of new things

Others flying off to new nests

Even some soaring off alone

Leaving the hollowed nest

For the next generation to find and transform

So even if we meet new birds and find a new nest

We will never forget Our Nest

Oral Presentation of a Poem

Oral Presentation of a Poem

Introduction

This poem to me God Himself imparted
Even if you happen to be heavy hearted
Should always stick around for a while
God will greet you with a great big smile.

Poem Itself

Have heard that only to certain degrees
But yet not ever can you perfectly please
Someone with personal poem you wrote;
All of the time it took and had to devote.

Are all pretty picky with their criticism
Knowing my poems have much witticism
Intention was detected as being quite clear
Bringing on great happiness and good cheer.

A few might leave you somewhat spellbound
With some words not seeming safe and sound
That perhaps in a poem were meant to be
A soliloquy which had designs of hostility.

Sadness, sin with a wanting to repent
May be among few poems I emailed and sent;
Are an example of how hard people tried
Then in end few tried and committed suicide.

Which one of them was it you would prefer
To be everlasting and continue to endure;
Poet Laureate soon was on one bright day
When I find out oral poetry will be best way.

Memories of a Zimbabwean Childhood

Long ago,the guinea fowls congregated
Clourfully and innumerably
And sang sweet songs
And played in the savanah
They sang for the for the antelopes
To leap and dance in the beautiful grass lands
The farm boys listened and danced too
And their hearts were merry

At night around the fire the folk tales were interesting;
The wild dogs barked ;
The nightjars called peacefully;
The owls clamorous, booming hoot was heard
The starry fireflies flashed in courtship elaborate dances

But the conflagrations came
And swept across the grass lands and bushvelds
The axemen were merciless ;
And by their millions the trees were severed
The poachers were ruthless
And the animals wild knew not more peace
The guinea fowls were poisoned
The nature loving farm boys beheld
All this chapter in heavy hearted silence
The guinea folws and other song birds
Shall never sing again
And the times shall never be better again.

Speak His Name

If you’re heavy hearted, and feeling blue,
       Speak His Name.
He knows all about you-He knows what to do.
       Speak His Name.

There is power in His name.
At His word the worlds were framed.
When He speaks, hearts are changed,
And things that trouble us rearranged.
       Speak His Name.

Green Eyes

Emeralds daggers carved out both my eyes
Leaving me blind, just enough to escape the lies
‘I wanna be yours’ recites over and over in my mind
If I looked in yours would it be love I find?

Constant appraisal appears to be your biggest flaw
You, your vanity and I, entangled in this ménage a tois
But I cannot describe this feeling when I look at you
A mix of love and hate, the old saying been said to a fair few

Those eyes melt me as if I was a sugar cube to your coffee
Your woeful ballads echo through my slumber ever solemnly
Haunt me in my dreams, awake with the feel of heavy hearted
Each night I lay there thinking will we finish what we started
My head asks me to leave but my heart protest
That I would pick you above all the rest
The first glance I knew from the very start
That it would be you and I, till death do us part

Candlelight

Candlelight

To witness important conversations, history in the making,
Always present beyond only shadows, my light for the taking.
The way I see this world, thus changing,
Lesson’s learned a midst your war, from injustice I see you raging.
The wisp of mans’ glow, up and down the field,
Weapons fired lively, sovereign casualties to yield.
Compromise mans’ written, subtle institutions,
Strong figures heavy hearted, declarations of solutions.
Ideas on ink wet paper, shadows cast amongst the wall,
To my wonder what mans’ planning, for my future come to call.
Circumstances of so many, a dim light undeniably needed,
The absence of my purpose, caused from fear, my light is pleaded.
My flames burn oh so’ brightly, lovers swiftly to and fro,
A guidance into passion, a newborn baby to come and know.
Evolved for centuries, I’ve coddled loved ones, characters immersed in the arts,
Monet, Shakespeare and Beethoven, Einstein relished to Mozart.
A new season for the burning, mans’ love for the lights,
A light bulb, dark halls changing, no wicks on stormy nights.
My historical presence proudly served, my honor not to be mistaken,
Succumb by a Yankee or Gold Canyon, fragranced purpose for the taking.
So many scents filling homes, during daylight hours,
Organized, strategic companies, an appetite for godly powers.
In a new light my scents roam freely, watching smiling families grow,
Very unlike those battlefields, wishing man didn’t come to know.
Moving forward a hope for progress, the darkness I will always fight,
Time evolves, brightness conquers, forever your friend “Candlelight”.
