Best Hammock Poems
In a hammock sky
sun seared my skin
melting it away
but in a twinkling - night fell
claimed my soul
and birthed a star.

Haiku
It is the eighth hour of fog,
yet she still paces around the churchyard
without a hat on her blown tresses;
an autumn cloak rustling beneath a gray cloudscape
that somehow, her eyes wander on,
not because she relishes the flick
of icy leaves...not because silk orchids lay
on a marbled cross: rather,
her thoughts gather among dry thistles to wail
upon a crypt nestled by life’s hammock of dust.
The lull from breezes affirms such quietude
of her beloved now resting on potter’s field,
sealed by the finality of death : this instant crash
through night's byway pinning him down down the abyss...
And the mist spills into another hour
unrelenting in bowed silence,
as if he loved her essence more in ghastly ruins.

Dramatic Verse
The touch of gossamer wings
on eyelids busy with the darkest, deepest
thoughts of sleep
under the chinaberry tree
bending,sighing
one with the sea of grass
windy waves
chasing each other across the yard
gone to seed
with dandelionsandforgetmenots
blueblack cats
hiding from lizards
until it is too late
coming back to bring you
a surprise
a gift of love
a wriggly trophy
to wake you laughing
from your dreams

Blank verse
Her leg swings beside hammock
fingers twine above her hair
but her book flies at my jump
when coati sniffs within brush.

Wedding dress of the blue sky
Sprayed with shiny golden stars
Laid amid silver flowers
Angels sprinkled soft dew drops

The hands that wove this hammock
In a tropical land of colors
Where bright reds, greens, purples, and
Aquamarines, splashed everywhere on its
Birds, flowers and waters there;
Dextrous and practical, the hands
That wove this hammock, never manicured
Perhaps lovingly they grazed over their
Swaddled babies--they surely pulsed
With life and love, like mine.
They navigated the rippling patterns
Of threads and bound us
Embracing my baby and me
Strangers up in the land of snow and mountain
Where we ponder in peace in sway,
The hands that wove this hammock.

The hammock’s mesh strains the sky
Underneath arms stretch to touch
The velvet splendor of love
Azure beauty of the skies

Hemp woven like cradle
Hanging on summer trees;
Haven of net drifts, as
Hands clutch iced lemonade …
Heat tans our skin, while breeze
Hums evening’s melody
Hushing thoughts, we unwind.

big hanging hammock
Silken soft wool scattering
Hither and thither
Stars glazing in holes
lovely Moon's resting region
Hiding rainbow smiles
