When You Float In Outer Space

When you float in outer space
with no one else around,
it gets a little lonely
and you start to miss the ground.

The familiar touch of Mother Earth
and friends to share the news,
is the kind of isolation
that can give someone the blues.

But you don't have to be in space
to feel alone and down;
you might swim a crowded pool
and still feel like you could drown.

But all it takes to raise some hope
that there'll be better weather,
is connecting with a friendly face
just like a spacesuit tether.

So if you feel you're out of touch
reach out to find a smile,
and if your feet are on the ground
then go the extra mile:

find someone who's drifting off
and offer them a hand,
bring them back into the ship
and help them safely land.

I Was Young When I Left Home

t'was a splendid night and I'm feeling hopelessly unknown
had a good old time, just a reeling with stories to be told
now the paint is running out if the frame
with my pockets emptied of loose change
I was young when I left home
I was young when I left home

when the heart is great and the world proves itself too small
n' when a stark ambition arises if only to fall
the battlefield was left bloody and cold
they all had knives but I came through alone
I was young when I left home
I was young when I left home

                    may you find yourself
a good someone to talk to
and say to hell with these
            errant waves of misfortune

then I hear your name from the darkness as I'm walking through the snow
and a pleasant warmth embraces me, seeps deep into my bones
there is no pretense in your sweet smile
and I find the strength to go the extra mile
I was young when I left home
I was young when I left home

                      y'must find yourself
a good someone to talk to
and say to hell with these
             errant waves of misfortune
                      'young when I left home
I was young when I left home

It is finish

I left the door half-open for a while
Now I know this relationship cannot go the extra mile
Walking in the shadows covered in darkness
Her melody is stained with blood
There is no need to write about her now
Because this love is six feet under the ground!
She built a bridge with her insecurities
Hoping that love can change a man’s name!

It is finish
In her arrogance
She claimed victory in the darkness she created
The violence in her heart was evident in the part she played!
She has to go now and
Show her next man her true colours!
I no longer have to care for her
It is finish now
I was the fool who fell for her but
In the end, I discovered that this relationship was about poetry!

It is finish
I no longer have to be there for her!
There is no need to write about her now
Because this love is six feet under the ground!
I left the door half-open for a while
Now I know this relationship cannot go the extra mile

She Is Altruistic

She is altruistic
Always taking care of others
Brightening everyone's day
Nothing but love that she smothers
She shines like a beacon
Always willing to go the extra mile
Very conscientious at what she does
And possesses a heartwarming smile

Wearing a Hat

A hat can hide a head that's bald
Or one with unwashed hair.
It often makes the wearer feel
That he or she has flair.

Protection from the sun or rain
A hat can, too, provide.
The wind won't get to tresses
When a cap's tucked them inside.

Of late, I've started sporting hats
Of many styles and brims.
I choose the one that matches
What I'm wearing or my whims.

The only drawback that I find
Is when I'm dining out
Or in the theater where no racks
Or closets are about...

I have no clue where it should go
Or what to do with it,
So through the show or meal
Upon my lap it gets to sit.

A tiny price to pay, I think;
We go the extra mile
And suffer just a little bit
To strut around in style.

Will Someone Stand Up For Jesus

Who Will Stand Up For Jesus???

I've heard of those who say they're "happy and gay."
Where are those who proclaim; "Jesus is the only Way?"

I've heard of many who discuss creation vs. evolution.
Where are those who proclaim Jesus is the solution?

I've heard of many who chose an "alternate lifestyle."
Where are those... Who for Jesus… Will go the “extra mile?”

There are those who say; "Jesus isn't real!"
Where are those who'll confess HIM,
with a passion and zeal?

There’s so many who sit in their church's pew.
Where are those... Whom to Christ… Will say; ‘I LOVE YOU!”

There’s too many who are on their way to hell.
Where are those who truly love Jesus? Can you tell???

I know of a redeeming savior's mercy and grace.
His love has been extended to the human race.

Jesus speaks a loving call and merciful plea...
He says; "take up your cross and follow me!"

Jesus brings true gladness and overflowing joy!
This is freely offered to every man, woman, girl and boy!

NOW is the day of salvation & the accepted time!
Christ can change us! And renew our mind!

I know that very soon… Jesus is coming again!
Where are those who desire to be cleansed within?

I know that an abundant life is what Jesus will freely give!
Where one can find eternal life! And a true meaning to live!

Entrepreneur at Heart

Hundreds of hours for a moments exposure,
When so many doubt you passion lifts helps composure,

Make sure shop looks fit,
nice and neat,
Bottles straight,
service cant be beat

Customers walk in
always greeted with JOY
Go the extra mile
No strings attached or extra ploys,

40 hour workweek?
Haha, that's for wimps,
Following a dream makes happiness,
That's a hard concept to grip

Financial stability,
At some point it hits,
The Pros always manage,
They tread along with the grit

Chic-A-Chatting

I am going to write a funny poem
Why? Because I feel like it
Why do you go the extra mile?
Great waistline my friend
C'mon
I love watching "Impractical Jokers"
Why? They are so outrageous and daring
Something I wouldn't do
Not lol
How would you like it if everything you say
makes people laugh?
I don't think you would enjoy it
Because you don't know if they laugh with you
Or at you
I am a couch potato
Is anyone like me?
I don't want to do nothing
I just want to sit on my recliner and chill
Until I get my fill
I just can't get over how funny God is
He makes some of us like dark meat
and some of us like white meat
I am talking about chicken, mind you
Just think how wasteful it would be if all of us like dark meat
Or white meat
This way nothing goes wasted
Why do you think I am attracted to you?
God my friend
He puts something in you that causes something in me pulled lol
Yeah He has a sense of humor
I can sit here all day and talk about how funny God is
Why do you think some birds think of dancing for their mates?
Do you think it can just think of it?
Or do you think God is behind it?
Yeah you too
You would dance for your mate if you have a chance
And make a fool out of yourself
You don't care
Because it's called love
Ohhh
I could swear they put something in my Coke
Why do you think I have to have a Coke each day
Yeah it's no good
It's addicting
I think it's the sugar
Or the caffeine
Whatever it is, it is pulling me
to McDonald's
Got to stay away from that place
I am becoming a kid all over again
We had a celebration at work
to celebrate "Black History"
I am telling you
I admire the achievements they have done
and know they may have more to come
Just think how many obstacles they have overcome
Can you do it?
Talk about resilience
Endurance, strength, and so much more
Don't let the stereotype blinds you
See my friend
You look better that way
Anyway I will leave you for now
But hang on to my words, will ya
You'll need it
Haha

A Can Of Coffee

A Can Of Coffee
By Curtis Johnson

I do not remember telling him how his kindness to me made a major impression on my life, but I did share the same with his wife and daughter some time after his demise. Moreover, I suspect that he knew that what he did for me had a lasting impact upon my life. I have no doubt that with plan and purpose, with prayer and personal interest, Bob gifted me with a 2 pound can of ground coffee. From the beginning, I discerned that Bob was not trying to satisfy my taste for coffee. At the time, I was not a regular coffee drinker, but rather I drank coffee as a survival tool when I was a delivery driver. However, as a result of Bob’s good deed, I started to drinking coffee every morning.

I must tell you that the primary action of Bob was not about doing a good deed, but about connecting to another human being that was in many respects ‘disconnected’. Nor was the gift of coffee really about the coffee, but rather it was about reaching out to another man who at the time had very little interest in personal interaction. You see, Bob’s coffee contact with me is one of the answers to a creeping reality in our communities today. My reality of disconnection was my own response to disappointments and adversities. Our world is in a ‘major disconnect’ for its own myriad of reasons.

Blame it on the internet and cell phone if you wish; convince yourself that our culture and the millennial generation have divided and separated us from one another. Tell yourself that emails and tech messaging is the new normal. Nevertheless, may we never cease to reach out and physically touch. May we forever look people in their eyes, showing and telling them that we care.

Yes, there is a real and present need to reach out to the strangers, the visitors, the quiet and invisible ones, and the one who comes and goes, with few ever getting to know their names. May we go the extra mile to acquaint one’s self with that one who would rather not be bothered. We do not have to smother or over zealously invade their privacy, but we must respectfully find a way to enter their space.

In my case, Bob broke through the thick wall that I had built, and on which there hang an invisible sign that could be clearly read by any who dared. Sometimes, if we like Bob, would dare to read the sign but ignore its request; or if we would but pretend that we did not see the expressive face and body language which said, “Don’t bother Me”, we might just be surprised with the response we get. Love is not bound with a fear of barriers and walls. Love sees no partition that it is not willing to penetrate.

Bob was a loving conduit through which the electricity of God’s love flowed. The coffee was simply an instrument that could easily have been an invitation to dinner, a gift card from Starbucks, or a ticket to a movie. The tool is relative; it’s the conduit that really matters and makes a world of difference.

No, it was not a ‘random act of kindness’, but rather a very specific and targeted act. As a result of Bob’s one act of kindness, he opened a doorway to my heart and life that led to a wonderful, though short, friendship. There were several occasions in which Bob and I would engage in interesting conversations. As a result, I learned of Bob’s many interests and of the service station business he once owned.

I recall a story of a heat wave that hit Chicago several years ago. A number of elderly people died not only because they were without air conditioning, but because they had no one who checked on them on a regular basis. They lived alone; they died alone. This tragedy caused the city to implement a system of connecting with the elderly in ways that disallow a similar misfortune.

Bob never lived to see how I began to open up and relate to other people. It’s amazing what things can happen when we simply allow ourselves to be conduits. Bob was a conduit through which love flowed from his heart to mine. The tool was a 2 pound can of Coffee. The power of love and a can of coffee. Who knew? cj08262014

What Am I

I flow like the river and fall like a spring
Dazzling many like a pugilist on a ring,
Interact with many people and classes,
Making young men to raise their glasses.

Racism and apartheid are not in my book,
Even though I`m finer than a brook,
Making beautiful girls to dance like stars,
And dealers and entertainers ride in posh cars.

I make sorrow varnish like faint smile
Making sportmen to go the extra mile,
Causing the rise and fall of thermometers,
Brains beclouded for moving on few meters.

To help men solve their problems this I crave,
Yet I`ve led many into crime and the grave,
Scientists plan to wed me with gasoline,
Which makes me better than formalin.

So,what am I?

From Lapland To Poundland

Simon was a happy elf
Who always wore a smile
One of Santa's best elves
Willing to go the extra mile.

With trousers of green, tunic red
And a bright yellow bobble hat
Simon whistled a happy tune
While at his workbench he sat.

Answering letters to Santa
From all the girls and boys
Stamping Made in Lapland
On all the childrens toys.

For three months Simon toiled
Hardly time for a rest
But satisfied in the knowledge
That he had given his best.

But Simon's work was seasonal
And soon it came to an end.
So upon the shores of England
Simon did decend.

At the local job centre
He was told he had to work
He could not draw benefits
If he intended to shirk.

So he was sent to Poundland
And stacking shelves he had to do
Not really an ideal job
For an elf of five foot two.

Simon became sadder and sadder
And considered taking pills
Until he saw Santa arrive
To start work on the tills.

Simon was happy again
Looking forward to the day
When he would return to lapland
On Santa's reindeer pulled sleigh.

We Are Zombie

Zombies have feelings
It's sad but so true
Our diets are different
We like eating you

We move rather slow
Yet you can't get away
We follow the bleeder
It is the game we play

Our clothing is shabby
Yet we have Zombie style
To look really creepy
We'll go the extra mile

One of our problems
We have horrible breath
One of the side effects
When it comes to death

It's not really that bad
Us zombies rule the night
Best that you take a plane
Zombies never take flight

We cannot stay seated
Or follow commands
With that turbulence
We may lose our hands

So down here on earth
We will hobble around
Moaning and groaning
Our unique zombie sound

My Rap Poem

what is my purpose in this thing they call life

i have tried to commit suicide but it seem i didn't die

i'm on the edge of disaster and it seems i have nowere to go

i feel as if a bullet hole is the only way i have to show

but is that what my whole life is what it's made out to be

die by a bullet and be another victim to this society

noone ever listens to my side of the story

see all i ever wanted was the fame and glory

but i guess im just to poor and that's the way it's going to be

i'm never going to make a million records and be in rap history

i'm just white trash and never amount to nothin

that's what everyone told me and now look at me runnin

from something that i allways wanted to be

the only person that loves me doesn't even seem to trust me

i have no money and i have no job

will somebody at least give me a break and listen to my thoughts

it seems that this world is not ment for me

eather your rich or die trying that's the way it seems

my life iv'e never had a father to be there when i needed him most

it seems as if he never existed as if he was a ghost

my mother see that's another story

see she allways worked and never seemed to have the fame and glory

she would allways bring men home and hope they would be our new daddy

have alot of money and drive an expensive caddy

but no they used to allways beat her

throw her around and allways be cheaters

that's the men my mom would allways bring home

it seems as if it was a never ending road

my brother corey was the only smart one in the family

he got away before his life turned out to be a tragedy

my family is crazy and so am i

no wonder i've tried to kill myself and it seems i won't die

so im down on my knees wondering what i need to do in life

is my life destined to be the next rapper or just another bussiness guy

that's the last thing i want in life so what should i do

please answer my riddle and maybe even solve it to

this is the last thing that i have to say

so i'll make it really short and go on my way

i don't want to live this life and allways be poor

i am willing to go the extra mile and i'm ready to endure

i know this sounds crazy but that i know i'm for sure

please give that chance and maybe you'll be the cure

She is Everything I Need to Know

She is my life and love and everything I need to know.
She is my strength and health whenever I am sick and slow.
her light sticks to my heart all day long: she shuns my shadow.
Comfort springs from her arms: she is my pleasant pillow.

A lovely lady, so bright, bold and beautiful.
A priceless princess, so cute, cool and colorful.
She is the sweetest song in my mouth, I can’t stop to sing.
She is my dearest dream, a courteous queen for a kind king!

She is an immortal image, a perfect painting… an alluring art.
She is every blessed blood flowing through my humble heart.
She soothes my soul and spirit with her cheerful charms.
She takes me to a wonderful world whenever I’m in her arms.

A darling dame whose sensual smiles rock my ribs.
She tames my heart and head …with her tender tease.
Her fine face and figure takes me to a sensual space;
She has got a pleasant picture that old age can never deface.

She is the smile I need to make me go the extra mile;
the unsinkable ship that can sail me safely on the Nile.
She is my hope whenever it seems my life is wearing away
She is a home-maker with a radiant role to perfectly play.

She is an immortal image, a perfect painting…an alluring art.
She is every blessed blood flowing through my humble heart.
She is a passionate poet, with terrific theme, thrust and tone.
She has got rhymes and rhapsodies that thrill me on my throne!

She is a dazzling damsel: a sweet angel sent from above.
She is the reason I am singing this song of life and love.
She is a trailblazing tale, only a wise man can truly tell;
She is that flawless flower for whom I finally fell!

She is my sun at noon and the shining star in my sky at night.
She is in every picture I see, whenever I look left and right.
She is a sweet story without end because words are not enough...
cool, calm and careful but sometimes she appears to be tough.

She is an immortal image, a perfect painting… an alluring art.
She is every blessed blood flowing through my humble heart.
She is lovely, lively and laudable; faithful and full of fun.
She is every thing I need to know, … ‘Is she the one?’

We Need to Forgive As Christ Forgave Us

Christians Need to Forgive As Christ Forgave Us!

If you can’t forgive your brother.
What good is your Christianity?
Without “love in action…”
 All is meaningless and vanity!

If, for your brother, you’re unwilling
 to “go the extra mile…”
What good is it to go to church and
“wear a smile?”

Whether you know lost of scripture.
Or can sing 100 gospel songs…
It doesn’t mean anything… If you keep a record
 of your brother’s wrongs.

When you stand before God on the
 great judgment day.
What will your answer be?
 What will you say?

Are you going to live by the
 gospel that Jesus taught?
Will you love and forgive
 others as you ought?

Christ died and gave his all for
 people like me and you…
With the sacrifice he’s given…
What are you going to do?

Loving and forgiving those who’ve
wronged us, is a difficult task.
Obeying God’s commands…
Is this too much to ask?

A life of true victory and freedom
 is your decision.
It starts with looking at others
 with God’s “20/20 vision…”

What is Love

I feel like I'm in it,
trapped by it's walls, bound to the corner
where you are all I see
All I need, All I think I need
Is love something you find
Something that binds,
Lately I hear it is poetry
Knowing me I might give her a letter
Address her as an immaculate object
Stamp it with my heart's approval... Then think
Should I send it to her?
"No, yes, no, yes, no, maybe later..."
Love is really an argument with yourself
"No it isn't, yes it is, no it isn't..."
Is love temporary,
is it a mental state that no one needs?
God loves us more than we love him
I thought love was a give and take
Where both sides give and both sides take
Love is the light in the abyss of darkness
Where you are Helen Keller to the world
Blind to what you see but not to what you feel
And what you feel is right
So you become a Spartan, a warrior
Fighting for what is right
And what is right is what you feel
And what you feel is love:
Passion that will make you go the extra mile
Loyalty that will make you fight to the ends of the earth
Strength that drives you away from the corner
Courage to look at the world as an ant in your biosphere
Freedom to be who you are
And the Pursuit of the Happiness your heart yearns for
Love

Humanity

I hope to live another day
Where I can help someone else in any way.
An urge to smile and care for a while
And eternally go the extra mile.
Sometimes I know I will take a wrong turn
But that doesn't mean I cannot learn.
Mistakes I've made in memories that fade
My humanity can not ever be delayed.

Black Love

You know what you are the reasons flower grow
Sunshine You are the reason my time is full
& when I'm comfortable with you I think where the hours go
What is love i dont know
But Ima tell you how my first love would kinda go
We would eat left over lasagna & watch re runs
I'll even let you meet my mama
& she'll tell you I'm the worse out her 3 sons
Rushing to Taco Bell to get 2 number 1's
That's fun that's my type of love
& when the sun come up it's steak for brunch & captain crunch for lunch
I'm so backwards
I get attached when you the only girl in class answering ...Mmmm that's so attractive
I'm just imagining
Thinking of my erykah badu mixed with Jill scott
Your clothes don't match but you still hot
 We like 2pac & Janet
You may think I wanna get in your panties
But I'll go the extra mile to give your heart justice
With this poetic mail aif you just trust me
We can go to Mars me you & Cupid .. Yea us 3
& when you can't breath
  let my love save you
When all your other relationships caged you
Why you let them change you
And chain you
When All I wanna do
Is play 2k with you
because you said you can't loose
I'm different my decisions on love is real hesitant
But I heard your heart had room for 1 resident
So I'm knocking on your door like lemme in
I brought you some roses , some Jordan's , and some lemon heads
I'm so backwards
But when I see you my heart beats so rapid
My hands starts sweating then I think backwards
I keep forgetting what ima say then I think faster
I can say only 1 thing
& that's happy valentine’s day to the imaginary woman of my dreams
I wonder how she's acting

Service

When a waiter or a waitress
Seems to go the extra mile,
With a dollop of attention
Or the sprinkle of a smile

Then the meal is so much better
‘Cause the mood is so relaxed;
Conversation keeps on flowing,
No one’s patience getting taxed.

Service such as I’m describing
Sure deserves a big reward,
So when tipping time approaches,
Give the most you can afford.

ALEERA'S SONG

I look at you as you sleep,
without you my life would be incomplete.

Always with a warm smile,
you always go the extra mile.

I love my dysfunctional family,
with you I can just be me.

Thank you for taking this chance,
because having you makes my heart dance.

We've been sisters for almost half my life,
no one believes that you're not my wife.

So here is to 18 more years,
we stick together through happiness and tears.

I'll love you through thick and thin,
I'm VERY BLESSED to have you as my best friend.

Dedicated to the best woman I know. Aleera(my sister wicked) I heart you!
                               LOVE ILLY(Demented)

Laughter The Best Medicine

To fathom the disagreeable I've discerned
Is to not let your hostilities blow up much too rash
For life has it's many incongruities
That hide in plain sight like a cat poised to strike in the high grass
When tempests are testing your infallibility
To go on with out unleashing a personal blast
Use your wit I submit
It's in your ability
To have your esteem still pristine without all the sass
Everyone of us has our own perfect halo
That is soiled by acts we cannot take away
We move on with a smile
And go the extra mile
And with that
I'd like to wish everyone

A Good Day!

life begins

so the "majority" resound
that life begins at birth
and equally, the other "majority"
state life begins at conception

Senator Connie Johnson chimes in
that life begins at ejaculation
or more equally, orgasm, a come-along
and tongue-in-cheek we hardly speak
in compromising tones, she bemoans

I'm thinkin' why not go the extra mile
...take the next step and say that
life begins at a leer and a smile
since that's where the cheeks flush

or go just a bit further and say
it starts by the hall water fountain
or while showering and dressing up
for an evening of conceptualizing

life takes on special significance
when spritzing the cologne and
slipping into something tight
with high-heels and zippers

but since we're talking about
conception, maybe we should just
go back to the ceiling of the
Sistine Chapel where God touched Adam

and said "ok young man...go forth
and conceptualize a civilization
and do many things in my name
but mostly remember to live life"
