Best Go The Extra Mile Poems

Premium Member When You Float In Outer Space

When you float in outer space
with no one else around,
it gets a little lonely
and you start to miss the ground.

The familiar touch of Mother Earth
and friends to share the news,
is the kind of isolation
that can give someone the blues.

But you don't have to be in space
to feel alone and down;
you might swim a crowded pool
and still feel like you could drown.

But all it takes to raise some hope
that there'll be better weather,
is connecting with a friendly face
just like a spacesuit tether.

So if you feel you're out of touch
reach out to find a smile,
and if your feet are on the ground
then go the extra mile:

find someone who's drifting off
and offer them a hand,
bring them back into the ship
and help them safely land.

Premium Member Indescribable Love

You always bring a smile to my day,
expressing your love in every way.
And I bask in the warmth of that smile
every time you go the extra mile.

When wishes get cast onto moonbeams,
hope embellishes fanciful dreams.
And passion's internal flames begin
to ignite desires that burn within.

When I'm sad or subjected to pain,
I think of you, and I can't complain.
My love is founded on trust and truth,
garnered from the innocence of youth.

Gleaning happiness from times we've shared;
borrowing your courage, I'm less scared.
For swept off of my feet by its force,
indescribable love guides my course.

Fate's magical journey made sublime;
we shared a kiss, set adrift in time.
And we both knew that feeling would last;
like before, in lives and times long past.

I Was Young When I Left Home

t'was a splendid night and I'm feeling hopelessly unknown
had a good old time, just a reeling with stories to be told
now the paint is running out if the frame
with my pockets emptied of loose change
I was young when I left home
I was young when I left home

when the heart is great and the world proves itself too small
n' when a stark ambition arises if only to fall
the battlefield was left bloody and cold
they all had knives but I came through alone
I was young when I left home
I was young when I left home

                    may you find yourself
a good someone to talk to
and say to hell with these
            errant waves of misfortune

then I hear your name from the darkness as I'm walking through the snow
and a pleasant warmth embraces me, seeps deep into my bones
there is no pretense in your sweet smile
and I find the strength to go the extra mile
I was young when I left home
I was young when I left home

                      y'must find yourself
a good someone to talk to
and say to hell with these
             errant waves of misfortune
                      'young when I left home
I was young when I left home

Find Your Rhythm

Find your rhythm
And enhance your mind
Let it lift your spirit
Be gentle and kind
Always go the extra mile
In order to fulfill your purpose
As you travel along in your journey
Continue on with your persistence

Towards Deaths Door and Back

I hope this letter, to you, a stranger
Becomes a letter to a friend
As we travel on this journey to its end
Yes we’ll start off as mere strangers
Trying to share the selfsame track
And what matter, if you stray a little
For I'll just lift you up and bring you back
I will steady you if you stumble
Catch you if you fall
Hold your hand when you get weary
Guide and protect you through it all
Oh I pray you learn to love life with a passion
With a zest and inner smiles
For that in truth, is the secret fuel
That will drive you countless miles
If loving life is too hard right now
If deep worry spreads across your brow
And your health is not as good at it might be
Well don’t fret my new - found friend
Just stay with me until the end
And that youthfulness will bloom again you’ll see
Together we will tackle any fear
Banish doubts when they are near
Grow a smile when one is lacking
For you have always got my backing
I’ll help you always go the extra mile
Help you scale mountaintops in style
Then I sincerely promise you will find
Life will love you back in kind
In more ways than you would ever guess
Adding life to years and years to life no less
For your circumstances always follow thought
And a life worth living is never cheaply bought
I’ll keep you on the straight and narrow
If you will but let me take the lead
As if we stick together on the journey
We cannot fail but to succeed
And no longer will we be strangers
But partners till the end
Now that’s a heart felt promise to a friend

She Is Altruistic

She is altruistic
Always taking care of others
Brightening everyone's day
Nothing but love that she smothers
She shines like a beacon
Always willing to go the extra mile
Very conscientious at what she does
And possesses a heartwarming smile

Premium Member I'Ve Heard of a Place

I've heard of a place where people smile
where neighbors all go the extra mile
I've heard of a place where folks of all races
get along just fine in their workplaces

I've heard of a place where highly paid doctors admit
there are diseases about which they don't know a whit
I've heard of a place where instead of bald lies
  politicians seek only to compromise

I've heard of a place where you don't lock your doors
for if you did, the sheriff would ask you, 'What for?'
I've heard of a place where's there's little divorce
where loving couples would never use force

And maybe if you've heard of this place too
You and I can give the world a preview

Be Kind

Billy, let’s be kind
Good hearts we’ll find
Let’s renew our minds
We’ll make merry and dine
It will all be fine
Hey!
Do not check the time!
I have no desire to hear the clock chime
There’s no hurry
I’m not sorry
There is too much pain
So many insane
Oh! How pretty the world would be
If truly we can see
The ones around us
And show some love with no fuss
If only we can take a pause
And truly look around us
To see the ones in tears
And the ones battling fears
To love the unloved
And call them, “Beloved”
To give a loaf of bread
To the hungry before they are declared dead
To speak kind words
Regardless of the bitterness in this world
To go the extra mile
With a smile
Even when their hearts are filled with bile
To be kind
Even when the reasons are hard to find
If only
If only
We’ll be agents of goodness
In a world filled with so much darkness
We’ll all be filled with happiness
And chase away dark clouds of sadness

How I wish to renew and set my life in order.
In this season, I wish to make life’s dimensions broader
I am eager to cast my past behind and embrace a new way.
In whatever I do, let my conscience have the final say.

As I grow in age, I have learned more than ever,
That things I once deemed precious are no more dear.
What I hoarded in a lifetime does not provide
The happiness I sought or made me feel secure inside.

How much I reached out to others when needed,
Is the criterion of how I have succeeded,
How sincerely I dedicate my soul and heart,
To alleviate another’s suffering is what sets me apart.

If I can go the extra mile to show that I care,
That is more important than all my prayer.
Our mind and heart should seek the inner light,
So that our spirits with a new glow shall ignite

I want all my grievances to vanish with the dark of night,
And get the grace to greet the advent of a new dawn with delight.
Let the gentle whispers of the season lead us to realize,
The beauty and depth inherent in life’s unseen ties.

Like ethereal lamps, let our lives send out light,
Illuminating dark spaces and making the world bright.
Within each of us lies potentials manifold,
A rainbow of celestial hues waiting to unfold.

Wearing a Hat

A hat can hide a head that's bald
Or one with unwashed hair.
It often makes the wearer feel
That he or she has flair.

Protection from the sun or rain
A hat can, too, provide.
The wind won't get to tresses
When a cap's tucked them inside.

Of late, I've started sporting hats
Of many styles and brims.
I choose the one that matches
What I'm wearing or my whims.

The only drawback that I find
Is when I'm dining out
Or in the theater where no racks
Or closets are about...

I have no clue where it should go
Or what to do with it,
So through the show or meal
Upon my lap it gets to sit.

A tiny price to pay, I think;
We go the extra mile
And suffer just a little bit
To strut around in style.

Will Someone Stand Up For Jesus

Who Will Stand Up For Jesus???

I've heard of those who say they're "happy and gay."
Where are those who proclaim; "Jesus is the only Way?"

I've heard of many who discuss creation vs. evolution.
Where are those who proclaim Jesus is the solution?

I've heard of many who chose an "alternate lifestyle."
Where are those... Who for Jesus… Will go the “extra mile?”

There are those who say; "Jesus isn't real!"
Where are those who'll confess HIM,
with a passion and zeal?

There’s so many who sit in their church's pew.
Where are those... Whom to Christ… Will say; ‘I LOVE YOU!”

There’s too many who are on their way to hell.
Where are those who truly love Jesus? Can you tell???

I know of a redeeming savior's mercy and grace.
His love has been extended to the human race.

Jesus speaks a loving call and merciful plea...
He says; "take up your cross and follow me!"

Jesus brings true gladness and overflowing joy!
This is freely offered to every man, woman, girl and boy!

NOW is the day of salvation & the accepted time!
Christ can change us! And renew our mind!

I know that very soon… Jesus is coming again!
Where are those who desire to be cleansed within?

I know that an abundant life is what Jesus will freely give!
Where one can find eternal life! And a true meaning to live!

Superwoman

The queen of queens
I praise you,
I respect you,
You always go the extra mile
I'm glad to have you in my life.

You have a heart of gold
I admire your kindness
If I could I would kiss you all night,
And treat like my princess.

I need you in my life,
I want you in my life,
Cause you’re not just a woman,
You’re my superwoman.

Entrepreneur At Heart

Hundreds of hours for a moments exposure,
When so many doubt you passion lifts helps composure,

Make sure shop looks fit,
nice and neat,
Bottles straight,
service cant be beat

Customers walk in
always greeted with JOY
Go the extra mile
No strings attached or extra ploys,

40 hour workweek?
Haha, that's for wimps,
Following a dream makes happiness,
That's a hard concept to grip

Financial stability,
At some point it hits,
The Pros always manage,
They tread along with the grit

Simon was a happy elf
Who always wore a smile
One of Santa's best elves
Willing to go the extra mile.

With trousers of green, tunic red
And a bright yellow bobble hat
Simon whistled a happy tune
While at his workbench he sat.

Answering letters to Santa
From all the girls and boys
Stamping Made in Lapland
On all the childrens toys.

For three months Simon toiled
Hardly time for a rest
But satisfied in the knowledge
That he had given his best.

But Simon's work was seasonal
And soon it came to an end.
So upon the shores of England
Simon did decend.

At the local job centre
He was told he had to work
He could not draw benefits
If he intended to shirk.

So he was sent to Poundland
And stacking shelves he had to do
Not really an ideal job
For an elf of five foot two.

Simon became sadder and sadder
And considered taking pills
Until he saw Santa arrive
To start work on the tills.

Simon was happy again
Looking forward to the day
When he would return to lapland
On Santa's reindeer pulled sleigh.

I am going to write a funny poem
Why? Because I feel like it
Why do you go the extra mile?
Great waistline my friend
C'mon
I love watching "Impractical Jokers"
Why? They are so outrageous and daring
Something I wouldn't do
Not lol
How would you like it if everything you say
makes people laugh?
I don't think you would enjoy it
Because you don't know if they laugh with you
Or at you
I am a couch potato
Is anyone like me?
I don't want to do nothing
I just want to sit on my recliner and chill
Until I get my fill
I just can't get over how funny God is
He makes some of us like dark meat
and some of us like white meat
I am talking about chicken, mind you
Just think how wasteful it would be if all of us like dark meat
Or white meat
This way nothing goes wasted
Why do you think I am attracted to you?
God my friend
He puts something in you that causes something in me pulled lol
Yeah He has a sense of humor
I can sit here all day and talk about how funny God is
Why do you think some birds think of dancing for their mates?
Do you think it can just think of it?
Or do you think God is behind it?
Yeah you too
You would dance for your mate if you have a chance
And make a fool out of yourself
You don't care
Because it's called love
Ohhh
I could swear they put something in my Coke
Why do you think I have to have a Coke each day
Yeah it's no good
It's addicting
I think it's the sugar
Or the caffeine
Whatever it is, it is pulling me
to McDonald's
Got to stay away from that place
I am becoming a kid all over again
We had a celebration at work
to celebrate "Black History"
I am telling you
I admire the achievements they have done
and know they may have more to come
Just think how many obstacles they have overcome
Can you do it?
Talk about resilience
Endurance, strength, and so much more
Don't let the stereotype blinds you
See my friend
You look better that way
Anyway I will leave you for now
But hang on to my words, will ya
You'll need it
Haha
