Notes About The Poem

Ethereal Lanterns

How I wish to renew and set my life in order. In this season, I wish to make life’s dimensions broader I am eager to cast my past behind and embrace a new way. In whatever I do, let my conscience have the final say. As I grow in age, I have learned more than ever, That things I once deemed precious are no more dear. What I hoarded in a lifetime does not provide The happiness I sought or made me feel secure inside. How much I reached out to others when needed, Is the criterion of how I have succeeded, How sincerely I dedicate my soul and heart, To alleviate another’s suffering is what sets me apart. If I can go the extra mile to show that I care, That is more important than all my prayer. Our mind and heart should seek the inner light, So that our spirits with a new glow shall ignite I want all my grievances to vanish with the dark of night, And the grace to greet the advent of a new dawn with delight. Let the gentle whispers of the season lead us to realize, The beauty and depth inherent in life’s unseen ties. Like ethereal lamps, let our lives send out light, Illuminating dark spaces and making the world bright. Within each of us lies potentials manifold, A rainbow of celestial hues waiting to unfold.

Dear valsa, I felt like you took a walk through my mind, and really did grasp what i would be feeling too, and so would others, resonate with your words, as they are sincere emotions and depicts longing to follow the light amidst all the darkness etc that may dwell around, I absolutely love the seamless flow of your words as always and also how youv written “ How much I reached out to others when needed, Is the criterion of how I have succeeded” this world definitely needs more souls like you, kind and compassionate plus caring. The ending too hits home for me. Pleasure reading this! Congratulations on your well deserved win, fave it is

So glad to know that similar thoughts fleet through your mind too. Dear Empress, you are a lovely soul. Though you reign over this site as an empress, you have the most encouraging words for all of us. It is a very rare quality found only in a few. You have always enhanced my confidence. May you ascend the rungs in the ladder of success one by one and become a poet of wider acclaim. Thank you so much for the uplifting comment and kind words.

Hey Valsa.. Your poem beautifully encapsulates the essence of renewal and personal growth, expressing a heartfelt desire to embrace change and lead a more meaningful life. The opening lines convey a sincere longing to leave the past behind and embark on a journey of self-improvement and discovery. The imagery of casting aside old burdens and embracing new possibilities evokes a sense of optimism and determination... reflects on the lessons learned with age, recognizing that true happiness and fulfillment cannot be found in material possessions but in genuine connections and acts of kindness towards others. This sentiment is expressed poignantly through lines such as "What I hoarded in a lifetime does not provide/The happiness I sought or made me feel secure inside."
