Best For 24 Hours Poems
Hi folks
Welcome to the Poet-a-thon for charity
Yes we know, starvation, disease, floods, wars
All terrible events in the world
However, tonight we fight a new cause
Yes a new cause more terrible, more sad (some may have sad “sadder”)
more .... well just more
Worse than global warming even, worse than climate change
Yes, there are poets out there who can not afford even words
Poets who cant express their sadness
Their joy
Their visions
And yes, you, you the viewer can fix that
For only pennies a day, yes only pennies
You can sponsor a poor poet
Then he will be able to post his work to the world
Including those fancy photos
Bringing joy and peace to all mankind
But folks, this can only happen
If you pick up the phone
And dial 1-HELP-A-POET
Your actions, your good will, your sense of duty and compassion
Can save a poor poet
You may even be saving the world
You can sponsor him like we said for pennies a day
Premium membership, lifetime membership, what ever your soul can spare
And remember, with your sponsor ship you will receive
A photo of the poet you sponsored
A monthly poem detailing how his life has changed due to your kindness
Reports from his local bartender, letting you know he’s writing his little heart out
You can even visit this poet’s small village
There, you can take him out for a dinner at his favorite steak house
Yes all this is included with your sponsorship
So pick up that phone, don’t wait, do it now
Dial
Yes its 1-HELP-A-POET, call now
Desperate poets are limited
Reserve yours now!!!!
Read this poem for 24 hours straight, then go back to regularly scheduled poetry, thank you
I am Thank-ful for the Fellowship of AA
I celebrate my First "sober" Thanksgiving day
I am Thank-ful for my Gracious Higher Power
I gave HIM my Will; My Life for 24 hours
I am Thank-ful for my Sponsor, Giving me a Big Book
Read the first 164 pages, then take a look
At the Past, the Present; of my Heart, Spirit and Soul
Do You want what we have?, Do You want to be Whole??
I am Thank-ful for Guidance; as I climb the stairs
As a Newborn Child I climb, little by slowly, One Step at a Time
2 meetings a day, I Listen intently to what "Oldtimers" say
I hear of the Miracle; the Truth, I now live Everyday
A daily routine, a Thank-ful Prayer, to my Higher POWER
From the break of Dawn's rising sun,'til Moonlights Midnight Hour
I am Thank-ful to Every member of A A
To each Brother and Sister, I want to say
Have a "Happy, Joyous, and Free" Thanksgiving Day
Someone help me
Listen to my plea I beg you
Four walls surround me
I’m imprisoned in a padded cell
Locked up for 24 hours a day
Like a caged tiger in a zoo
I crave daylight
I don’t know if I will ever see my children again
Death would be a viable option …
This is no life; I am like the living dead
I didn’t commit any crime
I shouldn’t be here - a miscarriage of justice
Misidentified by a photo fit image
Whilst the real killer
That evil swine still lurks out there
He must be laughing at my misfortune
Yet he is free to breathe fresh air
To see the sun, feel the wind on his face
Yet I sit alone in isolation, in squalor
Bars on the tiny window, in the door an iron grille
I live in purgatory forevermore
Whilst my twin brother walks free

"Coffee House"
a savory swig energizes bones
one swallow electrifies tasting cones
an instant caffeine rush
causes blah cheeks to pink blush
pure Pepsi creates haunting moans.
a tingling sensation provides power
charging battery for 24 hours
but "diet" won't do
the "hard stuff's" my brew
Pepsi fragrance as potent as flowers.
one day when Life's journey is done
and "the other side's" calling for fun
no Coke, Dew, or "7"
as I step into Heaven
hoping Pepsi is their "Number One".

Panic as I open my eyes to a new world.
Leaving the path of seeing and hearing,
into this frightened bundle of humanity.
Tried reaching out to feel the air,
Cannot even hear the sounds of living.
Fear of the dark was closing in on me
Hated to be in small closed rooms
Sweat pored out of every pore
Throat was closing mainly thirst
but a great deal of it was fright
Then a soft nose nuzzled my arm,
My dog realising my fright is saying," I am here."
Darkness lifted a shade
I smiled, at last, some normality reigned.
Remembered.....where I was and why
Was in a broken down lift,
Pressed the emergency button
No Response.
That was what seemed like days ago
Pitch black and sound proof
No one heard and I couldnt see.
Drifted off to sleep awoke with a jolt,
As the lift door was prised open.
Had been trapped for 24 hours.
Blessed relief to have been rescued.
No more lifts for me for a long time .

Of all the lanes we could go down,
Memory Lane may be the most dangerous of all.
If you choose to take a trip down this lane,
There are a few precautions it would be wise to take.
Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster,
Ideally you should start the journey emotionally detached,
With any preconceived ideas left behind,
And take time to visit more than just past wrongs,
It is a journey best postponed if suffering from fuzzy logic
Or Selective memory loss.
Wearing rose tinted glasses may not be a good idea.
Choose wisely any travelling companions.
Avoid alcohol or drugs for 24 hours before starting journey.
If you think the journey down is problematic,
The return journey may be more so.
Checking your baggage before you start back is a must,
As hate and prejudice along with others too numerous to mention,
Are always looking to hitch a ride,
Blame is looking for an easy transfer.
Virtual memories are waiting to be picked up by the unwary.
You should not stop at some places after dark.
If you want to avoid bitterness setting in.
To increase your chances of a successful journey
Down this lane and back.
As with most journeys,
Preparation and having realistic expectations are key,
Along with the right music to set the tone.
And don't forget your sense of fun and a willingness to explore
All that is available.
I made love - felt like I hadn't shaved for 24 hours,
went outside, wet, got caught in some snow showers,
white specks on a black man, an albino down the road,
when I returned, my partner was reading 'The Da Vinci Code.'
Someone said that those guys had a poncey beard,
The Illuminati gathering just like Robert Langdon feared,
I wonder if anyone else had drawn a perfect circle,
yes, my barber design with the fade haircut magical.
Not forgetting my tattoos, logos on my designer shoes,
the winner takes it all, what is there left to lose;
I was accused of looking just like D'artagnan,
they can say what they like, I'm my greatest fan.
See the muscles chaps, never mind 'Angels and Demons,'
my ears are listening, glistening, filled with diamonds.
As thoughts travel from the mind to the heart,
And spoken words cause my lips to part,
Spewing forth praise, honor and glory as an art,
This is the way everyday needs to start.
Are you docile, are you humble, and are you meek?
It’s The Kingdom of Heaven first you must seek,
Before anything else will ever be done,
Genuinely pray to the FATHER through the SON.
Those who do not give GOD the glory,
In the almighty name of JESUS Christ,
They will not share in the promise,
For the gift of eternal life.
Holler, shout, jump, jive and wail,
The Kingdom of Heaven will soon prevail,
Don’t be caught standing in the wrong line,
Only the FATHER knows the exact date and time.
You will not conquer the strongman without a sneak attack,
Never being able to subdue him unless it’s behind his back,
On guard, be ready, for the second coming of CHRIST,
There will only be one time we don’t get to do it twice.
Although an unGODLY world our GODLY Conduct can still be right,
The only thing that matters is your name in The Book Of Life,
It’s up to you to choose forever where you’ll dwell,
A mansion in heaven or an apartment in hell.
Woe be to those who will experience the grief,
An eternity of weeping and gnashing of teeth,
Infinity in suffering with Satan and his kind,
Choosing to act on thoughts he shoots in your mind.
For 24 hours a day are here then they’re gone for good,
Don’t live tomorrow for yesterday thinking well, I should…
Eternity begins but never ends even with life on earth,
Live everyday through JESUS CHRIST knowing what you’re worth.
A seasoned grain of salt that’s pleasing to the taste,
Never allow a day to go by where you sit and waste,
The sun, the moon, the stars, whatever the weather may be,
FATHER in the name of JESUS thanks for all YOU’VE done for me.
I know that I could never send a child of mine,
To suffer the likes of JESUS for so many who are still unkind,
It’s not my place to tell YOU those who are doing dirty deeds,
For while I lived my sinful ways YOU still smiled down on me.
Never will there be enough pleasing words to say,
For there are still only 24 hours in each and everyday,
Days turn into months and months continue on for years,
I would like to challenge the world to have one day of peace
Something this great land of ours really and truly needs
For one day of peace can we show each other a little human kindness
Just leave all the bad memories behind us as we say a prayer in silence
For one day of peace can we say no to anger and hello to love for 24 hours
Just think with our hearts instead of always using our guns
For one day of peace can we truly be honest not as Americans or politicians
Just one single person on this earth that can see what the problem is
For one day of peace can you imagine such a enormous accomplishment to only
show each other love instead of sin and violence
For one day of peace can we think of togetherness instead of so much separation
be more humanitarian and help heal this nation
For one day of peace are we willing to ignore hatred and embrace human acceptance
We have one chance at life and I'd rather enjoy it than spend the rest of my life trying to
forget it
Sedated, but now in full fettle
Yet I cannot boil the darn kettle
I can’t turn on tv
But can go for a pee
My hubby must be on his mettle!
Having been sedated I am not allowed to ‘operate ANY domestic equipment for 24 hours – I am lucky I have hubby and son to help me … but feel for anyone who lives on their own

There's a time for loves to be won and lost… At least there was for us.
For 33 Chilean miners, lost below… life was simply stopped.
Alive and well, but buried deep… 2,200 feet below.
They had such a daunting, beautiful dream… to see the sky once more.
Being hot, little water, dark, only bites of food…17 days was asking a lot.
But life was true and held on strong, even when in the bowels of the earth you’re lost.
With each day the hopes began to fade, always bolstered by others to be strong.
Little did they know their prayers were there, were being answered in spades above.
Time went on as governments stopped, to send whomever they could to help.
The world looked on, every eye glued, as prayers they also imbued.
For once in their lives everyone together worked, for a common cause that’s true.
Building, digging, drilling, and planning… together as life below held on.
No one knew the miners were truly alive, as the earth held them in a deathly grip.
But faith held everyone together, for 17 days, on this fateful trip.
Breaking thru a small hole to them in time was a monumental task indeed.
To do it bigger again, was asking God to plow the way and give them back again.
Drill bits broke, and no one slept, as dreams of home, the miners spun.
Several drillings were stopped by fate, as a single one held on.
Many things could have stopped those lives such as slides and after shocks.
Remember the mine was unstable, or it wouldn’t have fallen at all.
Everyone below was tired, hot, worn out, and sick by the time they reached their goal.
One small, flimsy, missile tied from above would have to drag them to the top.
Would it snag? Would the earth crumble? Could it take the buffeting there and back?
The tunnel was finally reinforced. The first people went below, as we held our breath.
One by one, for 24 hours they were brought up from beneath the earth.
Never in the time of man, has a feat been held to so tightly for 69 days and finally won.
Thank the Chilean government, it’s people, the world's and American help, for bringing them back.
Then like the miners did… get on your knees and thank the God above.
Yes… it was one unified, miraculous leap of faith, with God holding every ones hand.
It brought back faith in many things including God and yes, even your fellow man.

Our Mate Fred Greer...
Strike me dead said poor old Fred....
A man cant get a win....
Churchill's dropped us off at Singapore ....
With no rifle its a sin.....
Changi prison camp at last....
and his best mate lay a dying...
Fred stole an egg for him to pass....
And the Japanese thought he was lying....
Fred was forced to dig a hole ...
and they put him down in the clay.....
For 24 hours he searched his soul....
And the sun beat down all day.....
Burnt to a frazzle from the blazing sun....
The Japs still made him pay....
They'd call him out to flog him for fun....
Yes every bloody day!.....
Back in Australia in 1945....
still sick and sad a bit....
A squatter offered him a job ....
Said ride out Fred, you'll fit....
So he said to the boss, come breakfast time....
How are you Bill, today ?....
The squatter looked down his nose, a crime ....
Call me Mr, this I say .....
No breakfast for Fred, he saddled up ....
Rode back to Dirran. this day....
And class distinction was sold a pup....
Sir and Mr were left that way....
Poor old Fred still lived in dread....
Of the awful sadist Jap...
He'd shake and shiver, bad dreams he said...
Of all the floggings, poor old chap....
Don Johnson.....
