Notus comes creeping furtively from the south
hot and bothered from the blazing summer sun.
The wind of change...concealed it launches sudden storms
as clouds pile up across the sky, dark and towering,
lightning flashes, thunder drawls, torrential rain descends;
rivers swell to bursting point; fields are swamped, crops destroyed.
Then once again he sneaks away, planning his next move.

His neighbour, Eurus, wants to show he’s no less able.
Bearing his inverted earthen vase he goes along
clumsy in gait and spilling water on dry soil.
His forays from the east tend to be unlucky.

Autumn fades with a sigh on Aura’s gentle wings
as ice-cold winter rushes in impatiently
from northern frozen lands to take its place
goaded by the domineering force of Boreas
who moves ahead with strong, intense authority,
his violent temper uncontrolled. Despite his age
he pushes his galloping stallion to the limit
riding forth relentlessly, cloak billowing behind,
his white beard curled; shaggy hair spiked and frosted.
Roaring, across the land he speeds with utmost haste,
a sacred conch shell grasped firmly in steely hand;
tremendous power he exerts and blows aloud
while humans cower in dark caverns, shivering.
They know his moods and fear his devastating wrath.
In their minds, princess Oreithyia’s forced abduction,
rape, and carnal satisfaction are still fresh.

They yearn for winter’s bitter ally to move on
so that the gentle Zephyr enters from the west
bringing with him rainbows and showers of spring,
calm serenity, greenery, flowers, shades and hues,
romantic feelings, fiery passion and intense love.

Ultimately, all four have to heed and appease
King Aeolus, firm ruler and keeper of the winds.

*Oreithyia = mountain Nymph

She said, if I correctly recall,
That, for her, a sustaining love is an
Absolute prerequisite for what
Would be a total commitment of the
Coupling bodies...and all that
Constitutes the essential parts of the
Eternal Soul;
And I not so assuredly competent
In this - the practice of such a higher
Art!
Adding, some little time later, that
Being so chained, in what she described
As an unfortunate consequence of a
Most regrettable thrall,
To a domineering Harlequin who,
When mindlessly exercising the upper
Whip hand, had neither modest restraint
Or any amount of unimpassioned
Self-control,
Was, in fact, just a flagrant excuse
For a base lust;
Of course this was not to be confused
With the laudable and gallant actions
Conceived within the inner workings
Of a steadfast and more openly honest
Heart.

And was I convinced that I was indeed
Sincere in all my avowed pledges?
And did I truly understand that all her
Troubled life she had tirelessly
Searched for one such as I purported
To, somehow, seemingly be?
How I instantly can bring to mind
Those obscure and doubting mutterings...
Still carrying upon an ill wind I
Should not wonder;
I think of them like the songs of the
Naiads: what woefully remaining
Sounding endlessly above the glassy
Tinkling of a mystical lakeside's
Stiffened and shuffling Sedges;
You a modern-day Danae, infant Perseus
Clutched to your swollen breast, your
Little box, in all its abject
Loneliness, now set adrift upon some
Desolate and open sea.

What turned out, in the end, to be a
Pointless charade. Perhaps; but that
Which, despite shortening periods, whilst
Enduring felt almost timeless.
Then of course this shared guilt...
That will, shamefully I fear,
Forever bind us.

A Little Piece of Paradise

A Little Piece of Paradise

An Eden-like orangery, her secret place for refreshing reverie,
a haven, from an abusive marriage, where her body and mind are free.
Away from a domineering, intrusive household,
her own favorite hideaway – a refuge from her unhappy world.
Here she is serene enjoying peace and blessed tranquility,
nestled in the nurturing bosom of this fertile orangery.
Contentedly she inhales the sweet fragrance of orange trees in bloom,
that permeates to every corner of this sunlit, warm welcoming room.
An enticing delight, time spent alone here is her singular vice,
as she lingers in the safety of this little piece of paradise.

Re-reading familiar poetic verses from a well-worn book,
she experiences sheer bliss sitting in this hospitable nook.
What joy communing with riveting Romantic poets,
like beloved Brontë, Browning, Rossetti, and Eliot.
Reveling in her sacred solitude, she relishes their consoling company,
amid thriving exotic orchids and other delicate tropical greenery.
Nothing compares to the immeasurable pleasure she derives,
from this brief respite with which her spirit renews and revives.
Before returning to a hard-hearted husband who is as cold as ice,
she clings a while longer to this precious piece of paradise.

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

The Tiger and the Dove

The tiger, majestic and proud
Fearless, strong and solitary
A predator by nature
Domineering yet wary

The dove, gentle and harmonious
Passive and apprehensive
A free spirit by nature
But always on the defensive

The jungles most perilous feline
Encounters the fragile dove
A most unlikely pair
Yet they have found love

Their journey will be a challenge
Obstacles in every direction
A never ending conflict
Between rage and affection

Each possesses, what the other lacks
Complimenting and yet taunting
A compromise of character
Is what they are wanting

She wants his intemperance
He wants her domestication
Together seeking a compromise
In search of salvation

The dove cannot tame him
Or dismiss his need for the hunt
She must accept who he is
Placing him at the forefront

The tiger cannot disengage her
Or deride her passion to nest
He must accept who she is
Keeping her abreast

The future lies uncertain
For the tiger and the dove
But they can conquer anything
If they just remember to love

Inviting and magnetic the towering awesome sight
A perspective of domineering rock and icy peaks
It challenges, dares and beckons with unfolding beauty
Stretching upwards into shades of blue and puffy clouds.
Along the winding sloping trail I make my way, the easy
Lower tract encased in green, till rough terrain appears
Then stimulation is released when steep ascent arrives.
I climb and breathe the pure fresh air, intense intoxication
It is so peaceful all around, a place for meditation.
The time goes by. I look for holds and make full use of spikes
Intent on concentration. The wind comes by and contributes
To the hazards of melting ice and hidden crevasses
The weary limbs in need of rest; a keen lookout for falling rocks
An avalanche of crumbling doubts that slows the pace...
Subdued exhilaration when the going gets too hard.
At last the top is right above. An added burst of strength
Dispels the peril of defeat. One final forward thrust
Victory is mine. The summit reached I gaze in awe
Surveying with pride my sprawling kingdom down below.

Preciously Handcrafted

"We are moving fast towards an age where people will be lovers of self, lovers of
money, self-seeking. Self-gratifying, laying aside morality, spirituality, family
values, and God, for self-preservation, self-gratification, and a cheap thrill.
2 Timothy 3:1-5

Beautiful, Black, Precious, and Complicated
Nothing else like it has ever been fabricated because the recipe stated the
ingredients are outdated. And the original chef barely got credit when He made it.
So without sounding antiquated, let me tell you how I'm rated:

My Beauty is my quality that offers pleasure to the mind or senses. It gives me a
conspicuous essence to remonstrate the world's false pretenses. My temple
becomes a domineering visual aspect of grace, radiating a Saint's best quality
on a child-like face.

I'm Bold, Black, and Original of course. I stand with full force and demonstrate my
strength with no remorse. It's a color of authority and power as stylish and
timeless as an extraordinary and eloquent flower.

I am Precious, Gentle, Sweet, and Simple. I make all my flaws seem accidental.
A treasured soul that can't become nothing less than monumental. It only makes
sense that my ingredients are kept confidential.

Sophisticated and Complicated I remain, yet such a *****, audacious bird.
Professionally e-nun-ci-a-ting every word and ar-ti-cu-la-ting every verb. Inquiring
about uncanny intellect which remains unheard.

My aura and my persona suggests Royalty among most high. Promising me a
productive future and a thrill of a ride. So the next time you happen to stumble
across me, the child of a King, I prefer to be referred to as MISS QUEEN in your
dialect of linguistic strings.

The Three Floozies Mary, Flo and Burly (A Known Feminist)

Come join the three for another cheap, meaningless day in their lives
They consider themselves to be hip, part of the same sex marriage, Burly the
husband, Flo and Mary the wives
Their day always starts at the breakfast table bashing the males that exist
They wish the males could be on the endangered species list
Sometimes things change among the three, as the estrogen level rises in Burly
Once a month, she wants to be a wife and act very girly
As for Mary and Flo, they think Oprah is hot
Burly thinks Rosie O'Donnell has the goodies she so much has sought
They sip their Busch Beer out of Nascar Coozies
There is no more room for anymore women within the circle of The Three
Floozies
From their point of view, all men should be women's slaves
Burly has a strong scent of Old Spice after shave
They love watching domineering women type movies
The popcorn is shared by all Three Floozies
They go out to only all girls clubs
They cheer on the under dogs, their favorite one is the Chicago Cubs
Their closets are full of clothes by Dickies
They leave each other love notes on little stickies
Mary likes champagne on a store brand soda budget
Flo likes Butterbeans with cumin to make them smell pungent
Burly likes Pickled Eggs and sardines
Burly's favorite movie line is In space no one can hear you scream
Flo's favorite movie line is Go ahead, make my day
Mary's favorite movie line is My name is Chucky, do you wanna play?
Burly dreams of one day wrestlin' steers
Mary is concerned that Burly one day will leave, that's her worst fear
Flo watches the WWE, she is such a loyal fan
Burly uses her forehead to smash empty beer cans
None of you are mothers, so on your peanut butter selection, quit being choosy
Mary, Flo and Burly are today's Three Floozies

Premium Member Emma Frost

Emma Frost (aka White Queen) is a powerful character in Marvel Comics. Is
she a hero or villain? Sometimes, it is hard to know! She is a mutant with the
most amazing telepathic skills. She can transform herself into a diamond shape with enhanced strength and with no human needs like food or water but she can be shattered when in this state. She was born in Boston, United States to wealthy parents. He father was cruel and domineering, her mother hooked on drugs, she had siblings, but none give her any emotional support.

She was bullied in school and had only one friend, a teacher. Then,
suddenly her telepathic powers manifested and she could read minds. Emma
was rejected by her family. So, she left, becoming homeless. Did I mention
that she was very, very beautiful. A femme fatale in high heels, a character
designed for eroticism, a cruel beauty.

While homeless Emma meets a young man and falls in love. Finding
out that her boyfriend Troy is in debt to mobsters. So to safe Troy they hatch
a plan to do a fake kidnapping of her wealthy father, but the thugs turn it into
a real kidnapping. Troy is killed. There is a battle and Emma uses her powers
to confuse the thugs, calls the police and keeps the ransom money, which she
uses to go to university. She gets degrees in many fields.

Emma gathers vast wealth and is the owner of several multi-million
dollar conglomerates and has many investments. She has many affiliations and hundreds of adventures and battles, that I would need a much longer poem to include. She has gone by many alias, usually White Queen, she
uses her beauty as a weapon.

Her affiliations include Hellfire Club, Hellions, Generation X, Dark X-Men,
Phoenix Five, Legion Accursed, Quiet Council of Kraboa, X-Men, The Cabal,
Xavier Institute, and the Marauders. And she has been in many, many of
Marvel Comic story lines that are too numerous to list.

I like Emma Frost the White Queen . . .

Premium Member ''Not That Long Ago''

There was a time, not that long ago that was sad,
A time when a woman's purpose was to please men;
Since childhood taught to dress a certain girly way,
To be ladylike in manners with perfect make-up.

Obeying ruling fathers and superior brothers,
          Conceited boyfriends and domineering husbands.

They were taught to be cooks and clean and do laundry,
To have children well dressed and obedient to father;
Perfect bodies and perfect hair no matter what,
Columnists advised them on affairs of the heart.

And how to keep your man and other junk,
They read romance about men tall and dark.

Then World War II happened and women went to work,
Working in factories and offices and so much more;
Jobs once filled by their men and they liked it a lot,
And they still managed to do the cooking and housework.

When the war ended, women never went back,
They were equal to men and the rest is history.

Premium Member Hippo From the East

The giant of the east, a thorn in the most prosperous continent
possessing land so massive which is second to none
having each day measured in nine different scales
and twelve large waters in full interaction with its borders

Its pride feeds on most of European and global superlatives
is it from the stores of fresh water
or the preservation of the wild plant communities?
Is it its rich deposits piled beneath the Earth
or its sized capital of huge significance to Europe?
This historic nation prides in them all and even more

But then, the limbs of its diplomacy are incomplete
in such regard, important allies are difficult to come by
no room for adjustments- it must be what it wants
Georgia and Ukraine’s tears then becoming the pay
for its domineering spirit

Though not adequately reverenced by the inhabitants of the jungle
a hippo still remains more dangerous than the lion
well ranked among the frontiers of global authority
but a major 21st century bully even in this time of civilization

Premium Member Confined Glory Shining From Behind

It’s one of the masters of colony domination
and the longest standing territory with unchanged defined borders.
The wave power of praia do Norte
attracts the unique technology of a wave farm existence.
In a compound of many flats, it’s the most reserved
and one of the twin sisters
in their menopausal period of the life imprisonment era.

The first domineering power to abolish human right repressiveness
which sustains the oldest alliance made in the world.
It’s a colourful identity, maintained by the porto
which has been imitated by regional powers.
Shines through a record-breaking Santa Claus parade
and hitting heights with a ‘half-a-county’ dinning.

Known continental praises of remarkable length in Vasco da Gama;
shows off mini-glory in the league of large firework rockets;
an intangible cultural heritage in the express exhibition of fatalism;
are highlights to its greatness
spreading from porto to Lisbon, then Braga to Benfica and overseas
contributing its ink, in the inscriptions of the developed giants.

Premium Member Why Is It

Why is it:

we plant gardens
but we garden plants?

we call natural medicines drugs
and we call unnaturally produced drugs medicines?

we label our disease-addicted corporate-insurance complex
a humane "health care system"?

we prefer fetal alcohol syndrome, pickled livers, and dead drunk outcomes
to THC induced probable failure to ever develop yet another over-yanged Type A personality,
with an antisocial proclivity for sprouting pickled livers and other deadly outcomes?

we tend to respond to uninvited Type B personality invitations
with Type A fully-alert personalities,
yet we respond to uninvited Type A demands
with Type B laissez-faire, neglect, and cognitively hypnotized languishing?

the older our nation grows
the younger our culture appears to prefer?

we pay more and more to elect politicians
who produce positive economic priorities and outcomes less and less?

the louder and longer I persist in persuading you of my wisdom
the shorter and softer grows your attention span
and capacity to hear me?

we produce prodigious amounts of dispossession destined for the trash
yet we seldom intend to ever possess and take ownership of our future trash?

Business As Usual economists respond to eco-logical health
as if their home eco-nomial turf were some alien crazy wealth?

domineering competitive Business As Usuals
fail to see we are a sustainable cooperative economy's
most significant source for disinvestment
away from Earth design health
and resilient development wealth?

we seldom have enough time to notice and appreciate new places and faces
but we drag through ponderous time invested in the same ol' retiring spaces?

if some communication event between two people
is called a transaction
then we think "economics,"
but if some communication event between two non-humans
is called a relationship
then we think "ecology"?

that digital information is always binary
but polynomial information is not assumed to also flow binomially balanced?

we invest in gardening well-crowned edible and ornamental gardens
but we often find it prudent
to nationalistically divest
of co-evolving nutrition-rooted Earth?

Storm In a Teacup

Silence does a reconnaissance around the room
betraying not my artillery of thoughts
that acknowledge the elephant in the room
so starts the ceremony that seeks to save soldiers

body language begins to breakdown barriers
as actions march in motion anticipating
the ritual of tea that takes centre stage
tactically open to observation and interrogation

all actions organised to be economically efficient
calibrated by the infra red eye of the guest
animosity surrenders respectfully and retreats
a ceasefire that allows peace to deploy and enter

steam captivates a tea cup holding it hostage
watching whilst water wages war on leaves
cajoling caressing domineering them to
release and surrender their secrets and serve

with military precision this tea sets in motion
a tour of duty washing away all detachment
reminding us to deploy civilized actions
that counter attack collateral damage

the tea ceremony symbolically strategises
and ambushes all thoughts of war away
quenching the thirst for covert operations
once again a creating coup d'etat in a cup

To Love, To Live

Clouds in the eyes
Mist in the heart
Warmth turned to ice
Dreams turn to sand
Like water in hands
Seeping through fingers
Out of control
The mind a whirlwind of thoughts
Words a tsunami of emotion
Life is not always fair
A myriad of disappointments
Blowing in the winds of despair
To love, to live, to write
Swelling oceans running down cheeks
Dreams a whisper in the wind
Snatched away with technicalities
Withholding what was meant to be
Power play the game
Domineering throwing around weight
A thought positive
Still standing tall above it all
Shining brighter than before
Determined and confident
A ray of sunshine giving hope
Every cloud has a silver lining
Smile in the eyes
Radiance on the face
Patience a true virtue
No holds barred
Victory in sight!
