Egos On Display

So many people complain when they lose

To gain better rankings, judges they schmooze

And if they don’t place, their egos are bruised

They even use blogs simply to recuse

To some extent, these attacks may amuse

But their true intent is to light a fuse

Comments from favor seekers surely ooze

Superlatives they always overuse

They don’t know how to give honest reviews

“Luv” is a word they quite often misuse

Seeking to have their poems perused

But tell them the truth and they’ll sing the blues

It’s a game of getting comments and views

If you don’t play, they will transfuse

Words of anger from an inadequate muse

On Display

The rising sun is on display
For anyone to see
Though few are out to notice –
Just the lucky ones, like me.

The past few days I can’t describe
Its color – like a mix
Of neon pink and orange-red,
A hue that does transfix.

It hangs there in the sky like that
For minutes, that is all –
A glowing and transcendent orb,
An incandescent ball.

Yet as it inches upward,
All that color changes fast.
Such beauty overpowers;
Seems it isn’t meant to last.

The folks who show up later,
When the sun has drifted high,
Do not realize what they’ve missed
By letting magic pass them by.

Nature's Beauty On Display

Tonight the golden glow of stars and the crescent moon's silver light are far more beautiful than mankind has the right to behold. The Creator, with loving kindness, illuminates the darkness of the night sky with celestial brilliance.

flickering colors
aurora borealis
dancing northern lights

Nature's palette paints pastel hues of peach each dawn, and lavender veils in the sky at dusk. Our eyes are awed by Autumn's gifts as leaves wear coats of many colors. Scarlet, cinnamon, russet, and all shades in between, tumble from branches onto the ground.

glimmering sunrise
dimming light in twilight skies
leaves in Autumn's breeze

Fields of heather and blue bonnets in bloom give off their scents of sweet perfume. A redwood tree soaring high, is the perfect place for an eagle's nest. These visions I behold and thank God for giving mankind such an array of wondrous things.

waterfalls cascade
love songs of a meadowlark
nature on display

It's all kept in check with a balance at His command. Tides ebb and flow, dew quenches the thirst of flora and fauna, the sun spreads its warmth over the land, and a deluge quells deserts and plains after a drought.

waves crash on the beach
cactus blooms in desert sands
harmony in life

I have a memory-
of going with father to see fireworks
we brought folding chairs and warm blankets
     it is a magical recollection
the neighbours gathered with anticipation
it
  began
with whistles and flickers flashes and snaps
a continual assault of pretty colors falling
    clusters of lights moving
                            and dissipating
strobes flashes bangs cascading waterfalls
glittering
       trailing
           projectiles and sometimes quiet glitter
father held my hand
stars hanging in the night sky and drifting slowly
down and then spheres of stars glowing
oh
    it is truly
               a wonderful memory-

Ungrateful People

Why is it when you go out of your way
To help someone brighten their day
Or solve a problem that has things in disarray
They want to play you as if to say
You owe them in some superficial way

Putting on some kind of poor me display
Overshadowing the kindness you portray
Some are not able to see the good deed
That some people give so freely
They do it because they are able to see
What a difference this would be
For them to help make your day stay in play

Some people lack the ability to foresee
People go out of their way, not for praise
Or to be a standout who wants you to obey
Not to create a cushion for some far off distant day
We do it because we care
When we see someone in dispare
Or life seems to be unfair

When someone is down on their luck
Because everything has run a muck
Feeling like lightning has struck
Then being able to help someone become unstuck
It's just good karma that is our choice to send their way
It doesn't require money
Or a promise you will make it right someday

It simply requires a sincere thank you
A genuine reply without asking why
Understanding that everyone
Has not just left you standing
When your day became way to demanding

Knowing someone went out of their way
To keep your day underway
It's not how we repay the kindness
But rather how we display
All the goodwill that came into play
To help make it through your day

Premium Member Always Pay and Display Or You'Ll Make Rita's Day

Sour Rita is a meter maid
she’s checking car drivers have paid
if you step out of line
she will issue a fine
of Rita drivers are afraid

Her beady eyes dart round the lot
she’s looking for folk who forgot
to pay and display
and it makes her day
to impose a fine like a shot

From fining she’ll never deter
don’t attempt to reason with her -
just zip up your gob
she’s doing her job
next journey arrange a chauffeur!

On mild days in sun’s rays,
I relish observing Nature’s ways.
I watch squirrels playing tag
and puppies with tails that blithely wag.
Songbirds serenade from early to late.
My indoor chores will just have to wait!

There are not for profit oligarchs
Amidst arms flooding minus any Ark
Noah saw such days of old
As he held Gods plan; on course as told
Billons swelll in roaring tides
As ministerial figures, smooth the ride
Oppression is touted, as logic and truth
While cash in community is unclean; uncouth'
We can gain liberty; yet just take the yoke'
Lock your mouths and admit you're broke
Close your eye's; don't read those signs
You have a choice.' Thats stated now mind.!
Just some words, just some truth; do mark'
From mouths that pompous, carp and carp
That claim the world, and barter souls'
They fullfil the scriptures, in truth and bold'
Having a lost eternity, to enter; i'm told.!

Her Grand Display

Her Grand Display

Oh the bliss of heaven’s reaching,
formed upon this fertile ground
Lingering desires touch us,
felt of love we now have found

Morning Glories, gently weaving
velvet blooms in midday blue
Climbing higher, painted visions,
beauty as I find in you

‘fore the sunrise, silent breathing,
passion dawns within your smile
Strolling ’tween the dew drop wishes
here with you a little while

Morning shines her new beginning,
sweetly we embrace the day
Lost in love and nature’s wisdom,
witnessing her grand display

Good morning Soupers

November On Display

~

Star filled skies ignite the trees in glistening array
of falling leaves and scented pine, November on display
The beauty that does meet our eyes so comforts all we see,
strolling down this shadowed path, together you and me

Love is our companion, constant, everywhere we go,
precious is the feeling as we take in twilight’s show
On this chilly evening as the heavens come to shine,
enjoying every moment with a true love that is mine

An autumn eve, the moon is bright and you are here with me,
nothing in this scene can show more beauty than I see
As when I look into your eyes reflecting skies above
and feel the happiness they bring by showing me your love

We were meant to be right here, wherever this may be,
hand in hand in nature’s home, a feeling oh so free
Or anywhere that we may roam, wherever we may start,
for destiny is in control and you are in my heart

Knowing Life Teaches Us

As I drift through all the loneliness
That seems to harness itself to the day
We put ourselves out there in hopes we sway
A love that will portray the kind of girl
That makes all my loneliness slip away

One who isn't afraid of her feelings on display
To find a love worthy of a man who likes to pray
Who would never play a girl in any dirty way
A woman who wants to be a wife that holds the key
To cast her love shadow all around thee
That frees all the loneliness as far as I can see

If God would have intended for us to be alone
Then he wouldn't have sewn
All this love that has grown up inside of me
Life is full of blessings that we need to foresee
To have all these feelings that have come to be
From the gravity that has turned up the degree

When we both seek to reach for the love we agree
Peaks all the emotions that we both breath
We will succeed in what love truly needs
A man and a woman living the golden opportunity
That tweaks our imagination
When we build such a strong foundation

Knowing that life teaches us
We are not designed to be alone
Not now not ever as far as we can roam
When everything with you sets the right tone
That leads to us never living alone
With a love like ours
We can call our very own

Stand on your rock
waving your flag
to the sound of your
own brass band

as though the fanfare
will bring you notice
lasting more than an instant
in the breezy blue.

Remember the crowd is fickle

Fashion On Display

When fashions get their own displays
Arranged in a museum,
It’s guaranteed that I will be
One person who will see ‘em.

I study all the sketches and
The mannequins all dressed
In fancy outfits sure to leave
All comers quite impressed.

Today, at the Mizrahi show,
The staff did help contrive
To take the dresses, coats and gowns
And make them come alive.

For after gazing at the clothes
Most artfully on view,
There was a film where models
In those threads came strutting through.

As wonderful as garments look
When hanging there, inert,
It’s so much better when we see
The swaying of a skirt.

Public Display of Affection

Public affection –
Where did it go?
There’s an infection
Nobody knows

Loving in secret
Guilt meter’s on
Telescreen watching
Privacy gone

They’re lockin’ you up
For a public display of affection

The children are snitches
The homeless are spies
Watch in the subway
Their schizoid eyes

They’re puttin’ you down
For a public display of affection
They’re sellin’ you out
For a public display of affection

—- in a strange room
Along a brass pole
The dancers are working
Shoveling bull—— like coal

Warmth was a legend
Your passions are woes
The fate of the last friend
Nobody knows

They’re pullin’ your plug
For a public display of affection
They’re punching your ticket
For a public display of affection
They’re cuttin’ your battery
For a public display of affection
They’re snapping your cord
For a public display of affection
