Best Deters Poems

Premium Member The Spring Clearing

Springtime on the ranch is just round the bend
You’ll get your nose cleared, we have cows and pigs
The thaw brings forth chores, that smell and offend
Rubber boots and gloves are now our new digs

As the snow melts, we are left with a moat
Springtime is here with its bag full of tricks
It’s sour and slick, so just clear your throat
The thistles now grow so watch out for pricks

The air never smells like sugar and spice
Out in the birch, there grows fly agaric
It deters the skunk, encrusted with lice
This mushroom will make, all feel lethargic

A blend of toadstool and garlic I’m told
Will stop puffy butt from reaching our fold

The Summer Field

Bees are buzzing in their hives
A pony tail swish, deters the flies
Long grass waves, majestic in the wind
And over the pond the dragonflies skim
This halcyon place you love to be
Brings peace and joy eternally.

Distractions

By Dana Redricks
January 6, 2020

Life is full of distractions
that can get us off track
We tend to lose our focus
on what really matters most
Tunnel vision often deters us
from our destiny making it
hard for us to see
Something magnificent awaits
us if we keep our eyes on the
prize
Never lose your focus because
you are closer than you think
Keep pressing forward until
at last you cross the finish line

I Never Sang For You

There are many days I miss her,
A powerful and unique lady,
What truly deters,
Is why he married again.

I remember back when,
She always wanted to hear my voice.
I was too shy and nervous to begin,
Soon I had the courage but I lost my choice.

She never got to hear me sing,
Never heard a tuneful tone.
It crushed my soul my everything,
Made my heart completely stone.

I wish I would've had the skill,
To sing for this vessel of knowledge.
After she left it went all downhill,
I won't even forget you when I'm in college.

I will always miss your lovely smile,
If I performed for you, it would be worthwhile.
Ma-Maw will remain in my heart,
For I hope to never fall apart.

Caesura Aquatica

Voyagers, convene thyselves to return, among us...
Caesura, crown nigh clod, a sylph unwept,
elision thy silhouette, meno thy minuet...
Thine late occurence on thee, wake of cerise sand

Thou belief, like a billow, upon your whitish cheek,
'Twas marina bay, her twaddle a garb of mer,
A henchman docks, thy quay, girdles stymie ebbs,
but he cannot dream aloft a dream she confers...

O'er to woo hand in hand, thou overture unto Sirocco,
Plagues thy pirate ships, quakes men with mar,
His and his only demand, an aegis for lagoons amidst...
Once deluged, sun askew above, one abyss of bagatelles

Deters a tocsin, feign mooting mammals, thy kin a boon,
Aquatica, thee damsel for diminuendos, spurns thy sire,
Her gentle mettle, calls thee, His fervor season calentures...
Aloof thy celestial kisser, nay thy nine, vim domiciles solitary

Doomed skulls ravish, an age id by ice, culls thee, for chastity,
Some may not know, we died to have our love live, over and again,
Amity vows posy littoral seaflowers, buoys colonnades of adventure...
thence, cradles await upon matins, sail thy Oceanus genesis, amen.

Premium Member Suck It and Read

Now where does one start to write
To find the courage he has to pluck
And write a poem for a contest
It's all about things that suck

Out there, there are so many places
Where this word can always be used
There are octopuses in our seas
And their suckers are used so true

Even in the medical world
They use leeches to reduce blood swelling
Their active anticoagulant
Is a marvel in their telling

There are women of ill repute
Nothing like sucking on a sweet
A hard neck never deters them
Vampire bats do it to eat

There are others in the animal world
Yes, limpets when they grip their locked
And back to the ladies and ********
Yes the sweetie I meant was rock

Then there are the ones who are gullible
Like a vacuum they become sucked in
There is nothing wrong with the word suck
Using it, is never a sin

Live and Lets Live

In a twinkling gaze, when all is said and due
In repertoire of wealth, your lack diminish but rue
Stepping into the new horizon, negativity is set to crunch
Praying for the very next sparkle, the sparkles of hint and clue.

It might not seem well a gaze to stare
The inkling and freshness of it all, bizarre
Not following the link that renders its trace
Trace to the aftermath of now and beyond.

Tremble not in the face of uncertainty
One always truly adapt; learning the true nature of greatness
Please moan on the trajectory of foolishness
Foolishness that blinds and deters from authenticity.

Life it seems beckons on believers
Believers of truth and mind-blowing givers
Please give your root and chainsaw, smiling on thy strength
Strengths are always renewed with every flavoured slice.

In the darkest of night, purge thyself of thy guilt
Guilt of loneliness and not following 'the' laid out pattern
Don't shy away from the greatness that beckons
Swirl and dance through her all alluring shimmer.

The hand may reduce its glorious power to grace
Please cruise through it all, leaving nothing to glance
Be purged of all reclusiveness; surrendering thy flow to thy eternal power
The picture you seek, bring it back to the present cower.

Laying credence on the excessiveness of it all
please mellow in the blink of any frightful fall
Stay relentless till all fumes are paused
rejoice for then all smoke is doused.

Stir not on the path of the unwilling lost
Freely but recklessly yield to the truth of thy soulful bliss
The glory of now is lesser when compared to the glory that is to come
PLEASE LIVE AND LET US ALL LIVE.

Premium Member Childlike Faith

Faith of a child is great in God’s sight
Since it reveals sincere trust in its purest height
Showcasing genuine reliance to the Sovereign’s might
Devoid of doubt and unbelief along uncertainty-blight.

Child-like faith was exemplified by virtuous Bible characters
Who in their young age could be considered as heroic masters
In subduing evil and vanquishing the bad that perilously deters
While fully depending on the omnipotent Lord for triumphant encounters.

There was David… fighting as a child, full of courage and valor
Crashing the Philistines’ dominance by ending Goliath’s ruthless vigor.
Samuel was just a boy when he responded to the Creator’s call with honor
To serve sincerely as a prophet, proclaiming truth midst good tidings’ clamor.

The Chronicles spoke of King Josiah who at eight years old was Judah’s head
Instructed by God’s wisdom, with faith in his advisors… he led;
Then we can never forget the lad who willingly shared his fish and bread
Which Jesus Christ multiplied to feed the multitudes in their hunger-dread.

Indeed, child-like faith* wins God’s heart
He even said that having such can open heaven, away from hell’s dart.
Now, my dear Son, let your faith in the Lord increase toward service-rampart;
Always seek His favour before victorious quests you start.

*2Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Ye-King and the Jewel

Up above they shine,
Obliterating darkness by their light-
Ye-king and the jewel.
The warrior and his battle- axe;
Each to other a better half-
Two peas in a pod –
Monumental monolith.

Worthy to sing for the bobby-dazzler:
Scapula that breaks the bow-wow’s jaw,
Oak that blunts sawyer’s axe,
Crocodile that changes waves with tail.
I dare you not, I dare you not YK.
The lion that once dared you;
Its flesh you tampered with wine,
Its skin you made casual sandals,
Its fangs now dangling in the celler.

The light is the jewel,
Radiating gorgeously her blaze;
Beam of light,bevy of beauties.
Peju is the light, she is the beacon;
She is the keel that keeps the ship afloat -
The buoyancy that deters every gravity.

Yeah,Ye-king wears a crown;
Pe-jewel is the shine on it.

10/ 1/16.
For my big brother Yekini Odusanya and his darling wife, ´Peju. I am proud of you

Shadows of Night

Slinking in the darkness
Out the corner of my eye
Shadows dark as pitch
Move with stealth sly.

Formless wraiths, haunting spirits
Hovering near my bed
Nothing they say, silent ghosts
And yet, I feel no dread.

They glare at me with hatred
Their silhouettes drift and change
Contrasting shadows with black intent
I watch, calm, at the strange.

I bid them leave when I've had enough
Their jealousy not my own.
I've my own life here to live
But they won't leave me alone.

The light, it makes them sick, you see
And they desire to feast on souls
But shining bright as dayshine
My almar bright deters their goals.

I'm a buffet feast for them I'm sure
And they'd love my light to dim
But my light cannot, it's not mine, see?
It's merely reflection of Him.

Greater Consciousness: For Contest

Greater Consciousness - For Contest

A bird at its will, soaring high in the sky
Symbolic of liberty for the worldly we
But actual spirituality throws different light
It crosses all frontiers of worldly delight!
The aroma, the taste, the bliss of spiritual value
Migrate beyond streaks that our senses can pursue
Path to attain such soul awakening....
Is tough, requires true faith preserving
The sublime feel of unison with universe
Subsumed in Supreme soul, all souls and cosmos!
Pleasure or pain nothing shakes our soul
Birth or death nothing deters our goal!
Ineffable experience and experiment
Rule to reach is the detached attachment!
Dark tunnels of ignorance flood with enlightenment!
Aura expands with golden glow, all sides radiant
The spiritual peak of prism of self-actualisation,
Reached with the oriflame of meditation
Once awakened, soul feels a dip in River Styx
Rejuvenates from dark ashes like the Phoenix!
The delicate nuances of real happiness realised
Contentment perpetual, soul revitalised
Conscious stupor amidst all the trifles
State of zero- ego, no worldly goals
Deeper as we move ,there's still to reach
Beyond the horizon waves of bliss preach!
Our body is chariot and soul is the horse
Mind is the charioteer holding all reins!
Controlling the mind is hence the first rung
Once this feat achieved, spiritual song will be sung
We reach salvation, the sacrosanct position!
No reverses for its our ultimate destination
Many set sail seeking mystic bliss, only a few accomplish it
Some pretend, some enlighten, some quit
Those who fake are sure to fail and fall
Those who realise, will be above all
Those who quit will still have chance to re-install
Let the blissful spiritual journey begin
Let Yang be augmented, demolishing the Yin!
An eternal journey of soul to tranquility
A perpetual rendezvous with divinity!!!

Glossary:
Yang- positive energy (Chinese philosophy ,feng shui)
Yin- negative energy (Chinese philosophy ,feng shui)
River Styx- River in Greek mythology which was held by deities and brought invulnerability

Premium Member Here Am I, Lord, For Your Work

For Your work, my God, that calls for my best sacrifice
I present myself by Your mercy every time I arise
Overcoming idleness of futile exercise.
In fulfilling my tasks with Your guidance, surely wise...
Here am I, Lord.

For Your work, my Master, that demands my full responsibility
I submit myself, thanking Your salvation-security
Refraining from indulging in laxity.
In exerting my efforts while doing Your entrusted duty...
Here am I, Lord.

For Your work, My Creator, that increases my eternal treasure
I yield myself, so I can be diligent midst labor-measure
Prevailing over worldly pressure.
In performing my roles with Your power’s enclosure...
Here am I, Lord.

For Your work, my Saviour, that deters my earthly toil-anguish
I humble myself midst temptations that make me languish
Abiding in biblical standards I, by Your grace, distinguish.
In shining to reflect Your light no one could extinguish...
Here am I, Lord*.

*Acts 9:10 ... Behold, I am here, Lord.

Potus Roast

POTUS ROAST
Upon this dais I do stand
To recognize a seasoned man
whose sins outweigh his business flings
his golf swing or his ling a ding
To blend in knowledge then to stir
an alloy blend with amateur
a future forged in treachery
a staid positioned reverie
of thoughts to trudge ahead and see
where faithful will not enter there
you make your moves despite the mess
of danger should you ply and test

your narcissism covers all
Though pride goeth before the fall
no one deters you from your quest
determined you will reach your goal (gold)
for you are better than the rest
with orange hair and three foot ties
A vocal tone that’s filled with lies
where fake news fills your rhetoric
you have your campaign goons as fans
with strong expletives in your game plans
To sputter all your promises
That all are written in the wind

and siege upon the immigrants
with Muslims added to the feed
the vets and Dreamers should take heed
Obamacare will have their scares
the one percent are gaining here
the rest are losers but who cares
your obstructions still will last
and no collusion you still spout
now I know I’m on your list
this roast I gave just has you pissed
But let me close by saying now
it’s all in fun, we love ya, pal!

Premium Member It's Too Early To Write Poetry

It's too early for me to write poetry,
(You can write for yourself, maybe)
I've just woken up,
got to do regular duties,
then I'll think of thinking to write
about writing...or write about thinking poetry,
let not my thoughts hinder your words now,
afterwards, I might find time to rant freely...
Here it is...last entry deters mine
or determines...is it too late already?
