Sitting on the Fence at Twilight
When the sun waved good-bye in the afternoon,
I’d say hello to the smiling Man in the Moon.
Perching on our gray concrete fence,
I’d swing my brown legs to a happy cadence.
From my solid fortress, I could see
a daily circus of human activity.
On a single bicycle rode the Fabros, a family of four;
how they all fit, it was a mystery to be sure.
The street vendor, old Papito, would hawk his treats;
oh! those warm, sticky, honey buns and tamarind sweets.
Sashaying in her tight-fitting skirt of tomato-red,
Cousin Clarita balanced a green basket on her turbaned head.
Then came buxom Aunt Alfreda huffing and puffing by,
to give me a piping hot, home-made, savory meat pie.
I’d blow on it to cool it off first, just
before biting into the flaky, buttery crust.
As day soon faded into hues of twilight,
I’d spy the occasional shiny satellite,
a tiny, silver snail slowly revolving in the sky,
moving so silently above, way up high.
For a child of seven, this was such a wondrous time…
right until the old town clock chimed nine.
Then Mama would ring her bell calling me inside,
and I’d leave the stars still twinkling outside.

Kittens In The Barn
He stops and removes his boots before opening the door. He enters the kitchen and smells the familiar aroma of morning coffee.
"Breakfast's ready, have a seat. How're the kittens" his wife asks.
"Damn cat" he says. "Should have run her off when she showed up last year". "Don't know why she stays where she ain't wanted". "Nothing but a nuisance is all she is". "Now got all those little ones running around". "I hate cats".
She gives him his plate and pours him a cup of coffee. He hungrily digs in, sopping up
his eggs with a warm biscuit. He tips his cup and pours some coffee in his saucer,
blowing on it to cool it off. "Damn cat" he mumbles.
When finished, he carries his dishes to the sink, rinsing them and setting them aside.
When her back is turned he quickly grabs the saucer and stuffs it in the pocket of his
bibs. "I'm going to milk the cows he says". "Take care" she calls, pretending not to
notice. In another moment he is gone.
He grabs his stool and bucket and sets to milking, the warm liquid quickly consuming the
container. He rises and walks into a distant stall. Bending down, he pulls out the
purloined saucer and fills it from the bucket in his hand. He places it beside the
squirming litter and watches as they stagger to its brim.
"Damn cat" he mutters. "Don't know why she stays where she ain't wanted".
I know I'm really tired
I just don't want to sleep
I guess I'm just really wired
Dreams will make me weep
I'm scared to see those things and sounds
Locked deep inside my brain
Make me sweat and wriggle around
Makes me think that I'm insane
Rational thinking is the cure
Its easier said than done
When your thoughts are so obscure
Rationality is to far gone
Stay awake with my relief
Is the action I shall do
My inner thought bare belief
Share them all with you
Anger resentment on oneself
Is a starter just for ten
Nice and calm me sat on the shelf
It's happening all too often
Guilt that burns within ones soul
Is hotter than volcano lava
Need to find the deepest hole
And cool it like a bottle of cava
Worthlessness is another one
But how can this be the case
For advice i give to everyone
But I can't keep up the pace
Failure is the biggest thing
It hits you like a rock
Needing help is so belittleing
You want to crawl into a sock
I could of said an obscenity
In that last verse of course
But this I say with sincerity
I will get back on my horse
These feelings now I've let out
Are because I'm so upset
So I write in form or shout
To be infront of the net
Glad to be on this mortal coil
Walk head high once again
Get sleep at night with no spoil
Black dog inflict no pain
Goodnight "sleepwell"
The purple on his chin was tellin'
there was just no use to lie.
That pesky, good for nothin' goat
had eaten Mother's pie.
She had set it on the porch
jist to cool it down a bit,
and don't you know that goat had come
and calmly eaten it.
My little brother looked as if
he was inclined to cry.
They'd warned him things
would have to change
or Billy Goat would die.
I got a rag to help him scrub
that bright dye off his whisker.
He could appeal to Mom's good side,
but didn't want to risk her.
That goat had climbed on everythin'
from our new car to house.
He'd eaten nightshirts off the line.
No wonder Mom would grouse.
I'll kill that goat", our mother said
a dozen time or so.
Of course she didn't mean it but
our brother didn't know.
Now little brother'd come along
when most of us were growed.
He never seem to learn the ways
the rest of us all knowed.
He didn't learn to work around
our mama's laws and such.
He had no wiles to pertect him.
His goat was sure in dutch.
Bein' so much younger must be tough
and not too easy sailin'.
His best friend was this pesky goat
and that was fast a failin'.
He guessed the only way to go
was take his goat and run.
He didn't think to take a coat
and weinies and a bun.
The rest of us when we run off,
we knowed enough to take
some warm clothes and some
sandwitches 'n even choclit cake.
We were all scared when brother
didn't turn up for a meal
and we could see the worry our
mama began to feel.
So Daddy got his good horse Dan
and took the dogs along,
and said he'd just go scout him out;
be sure nothin' was wrong.
It seemed a good long time before
we saw Dad ridin' back
with somethin' on his saddle.
It looked much like a sack.
But it was our little brother
and he was sound asleep.
Dad found him in the orchard
with apples in a heap.
His cunnin' goat had climbed up
in the ole apple tree
and flung down the ripe apples,
as nimble as can be.
So brother wasn' hungry
but he was mighty weary.
Our mother grabbed him in her arms
and all of us were teary.
That wily goat was smart enough
to prove himself a winner.
He'd saved our brother and himself
from becoming our goat dinner.

“Waiting in the Soul Electric”
We all drown
in the red madness
sometime
Crying oceans
of saltwater
we tear
Like torn pages
we rise rebellious
on all the blazing currents
floating on a thin simile of Life
kissing the Bluebird’s Wings
as innocent as an angel sings
confessional as a demon swings
pirouetting in our flaming
feathers of freedom
we joust like eagles
that dare with such hunger
for the most important things -
for the most important things,
are not things...
we are harm and hatred
all the wasted years thinning
all the mirrors useless
facsimiles shattered
hearts that were frozen
become quills royal veined
writing bonfire vanities
keeping scores
burning, we are hard steel
we do not melt
in the hot air up there
we do not open
we are closing doors
windows blinds drawn
Invisible dissolves
the ink tattooed
on all our tongues
What is read
is not seen by eye
nor heard
Inside us
there waits the truest
crown sensate
there ignites the real meaning
there Love finally opens
the pearled gates
waiting
in the soul electric
ultra violet, cool it burns
bathed in light, soothing
open arms patiently waiting
like a parent
alone
waiting
for you
to melt

"Everything is gonna be alright".
A simple writing stared at me from wall.
Somebody drew it. Why, for whom? Don't know.
And what they meant by it, if anything at all.
.
A busy day, its noise - tried push me out.
I had to rush, fulfill, complete and run around.
How many times we're busy making someone happy.
Forgetting us, allowing be somebody's puppy.
.
Forget it all. I stood and watched, amused by simple phrase.
And getting warm inside remembering old days
Few silly words became highlight of day.
Brought smile, optimism. Continue? You may.
.
A pause in life. Relax, refresh, review.
Continue wiser - now happiness in view.
How cool it is to write and throw rope,
To those of us who needs a boost of hope.
I reckon the empty nest syndrome hits all at one time or another,
When youngsters flee the nest leaving dear old Dad and Mother!
This morning on the patio I witnessed this situation at its best,
When two baby wrens took flight and left their parent's cozy nest!
Mr. and Mrs. Wren set up housekeeping in a birdhouse I had made.
They soon became the proud parents of a couple of eggs she laid!
I watched them flit to and fro as they filled the ever-empty maws,
Of their little darlings from grub carried in their over-flowing craws!
Once the kids had spread their wings to experience the thrill of flight,
Mother Wren would sit on the birdhouse porch to contemplate her plight!
She'd plaintively chirp as if to say, "You ingrates left sans saying goodbye!
You've left me and your Pa in this lonely nest to mope about and cry!"
It wasn't long until Mr. Wren was in a romantic mood with his spouse.
When he tried to nuzzle up to Mrs. Wren, she'd scurry inside the house,
As if to say, "No way, buster! I've had it! Cool it until next spring!
Perhaps when the cherry blossoms bloom again we'll have another fling!"

With a deep Growl!
a Corgi's disapproving eye,
a question mark tail arched in suspicion,
and four white capped feet poised
to leap off the porch into a dead run,
my old dog thinks he has still got it.
Bark! Bark! Bark!
You have been warned by "Outlaw"
not to come too close to the fence.
Despite his advanced years
the little guardian staring at you
will bare his old teeth at you.
Cool it "Outlaw"! Come here!
Come over by me little buddy
and sit your loyal soul down.
We may think we still got it
and we might just have it once,
but today let's just sit here a spell
and try to accept the fact that we are
just two old dogs sitting on the porch.
Every home should have a Jacuzzi
It's the only civilized way
To melt away your cares and troubles
Puts zing back into your day
Nothing else is really quite like it
As the jets open up your pores
It's such a happy invigorating feeling
Like the whole damn world is yours
Feeling like each of your body parts
Is singing and offering you praise
For waking up those happy feelings
Giving thanks for each new day
Now I won't get into 'two in a tub'
That's a totally different ballgame
Suddenly it's no more about cleanliness
Your focus sure ain't quite the same
A great subject for an X-rated poem
So watch for it down the road
Getting that anxious feeling already
Must cool it or my loins will explode!

Suicide is sad and an awful thing to have happen to anyone,
however, in all honesty, have you ever been to that point?
Have you ever hurt so bad down in your soul that you
just couldn’t make it through another day with that pain.
Has your life ever felt so meaningless, and empty that you
wanted to end your own pain and suffering?
So many say, I can’t believe he/she had killed themselves,
but is it really a shock to you, that it came down to this?
Where there not any signs of sadness, or pain?
You may be heartbroken and confused,
but think about his or her feelings at that moment.
When it comes down to whose feelings are more important,
more valuable, or who is suffering to most, or who will be sad,
the individual has to put them self first.
No one wants a friend, family member, or a loved one to
commit suicide, or even attempt, but the decision is not yours.
Some believe it’s a selfish act, and some believe,
it’s just taking the easy way out, but unless you
have been to that point in your life, you don’t know
how it feels to want to commit suicide.
Suicide is not cool, it doesn’t really hurt those
you thought it might. Suicide is you giving up
on yourself, giving up on your dreams, and your goals in life.
Suicide is a permanent absence of you from this world,
and the lives of those who love you.
I wrote this, because I noticed a couple of my friends had a bit of a misunderstanding. If they live next door to one another I could understand, but here, really.
Now You've went and said it
You've really made me pissed
No matter what you've meant
I have to raise both my fist
I know it's just the web
And I know it's just a site
But I'm in this bloody rage
And feel I have to fight
It's true, I only know you
By the things that I have red
And maybe it's the way
Or everything you have said
I know, It's not my tone
I would never cause offense
It's you and you alone
That's making everything so tense
chorus
But maybe, yes, just maybe
We can cool it 'till we see
The respect I have for you
Is the same you have for me
Instrumental
It's true, I only know you
By the things that I have red
And maybe it's the way
Or everything you have said
I know, It's not my tone
I would never cause offense
It's you and you alone
That's making everything so tense
chorus
But maybe, yes, just maybe
We can cool it 'till we see
The respect I have for you
Is the same you have for me
These the kinda words not used by folk in college. I hope I'm ebonically
correct, when I skool you in Street knowledge.
4gt the spelling just take your mind to the projects. Wea we can stand on the
block n chill.
Hear all the rumors from the party that night Wea JBoogie got killed. 4real.
My homie said he got grilled. That mean somebody was looking at him
funny. It's a jacked up world folks will rob you 4 ya money.
If you rob me we will have beef. N that is one thing you don't wanna see. So
in other words jus cool it. Cuz I can get ugly n I don't wanna prove it. Str8 up
When you look at me
my heart trembles,
It pours from above
like the high
waters.
Your voice is so
cool, it replenishes
me,
Nothing's sexier
than the sound of
thee.
Your touch is like a
flowing liquid;
Smooth, soothing,
and relaxing;
Your kiss is like a
water in the desert,
I'm craving for it
cause it satisfies
my thirst.
Yet you're the water
from the mountain,
You're high; I
cannot reach you.
My only happiness is
when you descend,
So I can wet myself
with your love that
has no end.
Oh baby your love's
like the waterfall,
I love the way you
bathe it on me
though it hurts.
-dedicated to and inspired by Awoh Kingsley-
To define a friendship
Is to define each element held in a grand sea
The moments shared between the water and the single fish
The seaweed coursing in the shallow
Sinking in the deep
Through trust two can prosper
And even be happy
But when mistakes are made
Trust becomes a demand
A weapon to test each other
Trust allows that seaweed to flow
Trust can also allow the currents to bury them
Without openness that trust will falter
Like an underwater volcano
Holding all the fire in
It is bound to explode
And though water will cool it somewhat
There’s no telling how long the next explosion will take
A friend should not take his time calculating that
Instead allow words to flow
Like the gills of a fish
Allowing water in and out
Cooling and moderating forever
Filtering the bad into good
Above all, love must reign
For friendship cannot grow without it
Without love
There would be no elements in the sea
The sea would be a bottomless pit
Of nothingness
Walk with me,
I will guide you onto the moon;
And I will tell you who elucidates the darkness
Walk with me,
I will lead you into aesthetic blossom's patch;
And I will tell you who is the most adorable
Walk with me,
I will reach you to the Lucinia Megarhynchos;
And I will tell you who sings the ariose songs
Walk with me,
I will steer to the wild blue yonder;
And I will tell you who has the unttermost eternity
Walk with me,
I will take you to the sky full of multitudinous stars;
And I will tell who glistens like a pearlescent
Walk with me,
I will regulate you to the Amazon rainforest;
And I will tell you how much green and monumental it is
Come with me,
I will sail to the infinite Sea;
I will tell you how largest and deep it is.
Come with me,
I will ride you onto the blowing wind;
And I will tell you how gentle and cool it breathes
Come with me,
I will do the things that I couldn't do;
And I will you what's there,
That I can't do for you.
Come with me,
I will let you touch my feelings;
And I will tell you how much I love you.
