With rainbow wings, you tarry among the stones
Your caress as light as dew drops in the sun
Searching for a rose to call your own...
A morning breeze intrudes to join the fun
Tickling vines, and petals, where you've clung

You find a place to rest awhile and preen
Then fly to me, assured and debonair
You spread apart kaleidoscopic wings
While proudly knowing roses cannot compare
Nor can the scarlet ribbon in my hair

Dear butterfly, while neighbors won't suspect
This love affair I have with you,
My hair, in which you light, holds new barrette
You flatter me,... am I prize pursued?
You've fluttered down, to be my arm's tattoo

The butterfly flutters by, in whimsical routine
I see him circle round my head, as if to play a game
A tease you are, dear butterfly, I cannot intervene
We will be friends, or more than that, tho' it may be insane
I'll tell you mine, you tell me yours, or do you have a name?

Premium Member Remember When

Back when we would walk in the spring-green wood
Holding hands, hearts joined only as lovers can
Thoughts circle round those days in the deep wildwood

Now aged, bent way past young adulthood
Young love comes in glimpses in this lifespan
Longing for Jesus' relief of my orphanhood

Premium Member LUNE LANDING - series of lune haiku

LATE BLOOMER
sun highlights
the bod of oak bark -
Autumn knight

CLINGERS
won’t let go -
cling to puppy love,
its branches

CLEAVERS
cleaves to old
relationship vow -
storm shakes loose

LANDING
the leaves land
amidst the old maids’
bitterness

BRITTLE BONES
the children
jump in old gals’ laps
living loud

RING AROUND THE ROSIES
circle round
sing, “ashes…ashes…”
and fall down

LEARNING CURVE
life up there
in the lusty air
now seems strange

GONE WITH THE WIND
scattering
the old bats’ ashes
to the wind

REBORN
phoenix lands
a bitty wiser
and lighter

If words were more than just a letter's hope,
And fools were all that seemed to understand.
If dreams were more than tumbles down a slope,
And gifts were placed within the giver's hand.
Draw forth great visions from the peasant hearts.
Sculpt worlds where sons of suns bring rays of light.
Shout! Why? To whispered streams wisdom imparts.
Follow the blind beyond the gift of sight.
Wind's syllables dance on the ancient trees.
Expressions left within the grains of life,
Where prayers are dusted from the savior's knees,
And given to the husband and the wife.
     Then sprinkled to desires far below,
      Become the circle, round and round we go.

Jack-O-Lantern

Buy a pumpkin, big and round;
Choices at the stands abound.
Pick one with a solid stem –
You’ll know when you’ve found a gem.

Cut a circle ‘round the top;
Dig inside – remove the glop.
Separate each slimy seed;
Patience is what you will need.

Rinse and dry this pumpkin treat;
Spread them on a cookie sheet.
Shake some salt and let them bake;
Undersalting’s a mistake.

Meanwhile, get your sharpest knife;
Time for Jack to get a life.
Carve a face with sneer or grin,
Then you poke a candle in.

Now your Jack-O-Lantern’s set;
Admiration’s what you’ll get.
While you’re feeling downright boasty,
Munch some seeds, all nice and toasty.

Some traditions never die;
This one has a reason why:
Every year at Halloween,
Jack-O-Lanterns steal the scene!

Summers' thunderings gather in brooding, heavy clouds
Soundless masses with shuddering voices
Calling through an untamed sky
Shaking above the meeker Earth,
Pillars of rain, shot through, flashings in their depths,
Electric fires running through the close, wet darkness -
Thunderings assemble to make their pronouncements,
In booms and growlings cast through the winds
To tongue-lash an unruly world with elemental admonishments,
Bearing reminders of old forces that never die,
Waiting and spreading through vast spaces,
Breeding strength, coalescing.

Between the group of walls they live in,
He and she circle 'round,
Eyes seldom meeting,
Casting flashes of hurt when they do.
They hold within their aching hearts
Black shards of anger born of their quarrel,
Acid thoughts brew with the thunder's boil around them
It walks with its giant's tread above the roof,
Growling mindless sentiments
In tones that set the windowpanes ashiver,
Bitterness tends to the feeding of itself,
Savoring the cold fare
Of unforgiven words, thoughts both spoken and silent
While this summer squall of tattered love rises to rage
Ends in their dark unease;
The slow burn of anger between them
Has settled to smoking grey ash gradually piling up in their sombre souls
As the sky above flares through rushing sheets of clouds
Wind tearing by, laughing madly.

3.

Wrapped close, in implacable, bitter embrace,
The winter grips the land and holds it immobile,
A cat upon its mouse.

Stripped bare, glazed with stony ice
Ashudder beneath a slatecloud sky
That drops its snow in a hush of crowding dimness,
A white leaden mantle
Lain over empty fields, piling 'round trunks of skeletal trees
Standing soberly, waving bony branches in the frozen air
The twilight days light a world now comatose,
Drawn in against the cold and huddled like
Some invalid giant shorn of all his strength,
Lying stretched half slain across the firmament
Gazing into nothing with distant blank stare
As scattered carrion birds wheel against a wan canvas,
Waiting.

Those two in their little house circle 'round as well,
Moving without purpose through the events of their lives
As the cold outside seeps into the rooms
Invading their thoughts
Making them tremble
Shaken in the blindness of their desperation,
Though the fire blazes orange-warm in the hearth,
Defending this inside space from the day's deep gloom,
Autumnal sorrows have collected in the silence,
Worn their hearts weary with cares;
Thus the spirit's wounds have festered and widened,
Filling with the poison of despair.

Soft sparks the glow the fire makes in his tired eyes,
Reflecting wild fears that her love is lost;
They dance in his mind, stabbing with a pain
That knows no cure.

Long the time he just looks at her,
This life that chose to be with him always,
He sees that
Whatever
The hurt that came between,
He cannot bear she leave him
Condemned to go on without her,
Alone.

Her thoughts for him are much the same,
Though she says it not.
Yet when at last he reaches out across the table
To take her hand in his,
She looks up, and for one long moment
They two become the lone human pair
In all of space and time,
In one another's moist crystalline gaze
They read a deep sweet tale
In a language without words.

          Something melts,
                                       And something breaks

In that moment when she gently folds
Her delicate fingers over his,
Looking down again with a schoolgirl smile
Spreading irresistible over her face.

Outside, in the blackness of the star-shot night,
Ice cracks;
Waters run clear beneath the snow.

With a Love Like Ours

Butterflies dance, locked in a trance

Violins singing a lovers romance

Daffodils swaying in a breathless breeze

Dreams floating along in a wakeless sea

Smiles, long walks, endless nights

Holding hands, soft kisses reaching new heights

Two old souls connecting again and again

Thinking of a better time when

our nights were one

our days never done

when we would soar with the stars

we were free, not locked behind bars

Your heart was all mine

Your love could not be defined

Once hit by Cupid's dart

Like two doves our love won't depart

The violins will sing another tune

drift high like a helium balloon

above the clouds so pure and white

circle round under lunar lights

We'll dance as one at heavens gate

A love like ours, two reunited soulmates

The Circle --- A Painting By Frida Kahlo

~~~
Caught between one life and another
my pain lengthens like a shadow of the moon
I am crumbling into fragments
like a fragile leaf, played with by the wind
O' dark angel of the night
You've slashed your talons across my life
You have pounced, without a care...
declaring my flesh and bone your own
I only hear you in the silence of despair....
 My world is now this moment that does not move
O furtuna, sternit fortem
O furtuna, rota tu volubillis
Never was my life my own, never could it bend
A circle, round, I cannot be........but just a line that ends
Quod per sortem .... Sternit fortem,
A leaf, no longer, on the tree
Reflecting then, upon a sky
I reach a hand upon my crown
and I feel of death instead
My heart shrivels dry, a blackened rose, ...
 Do you feel my pain?
   Why must the flame of life grow dim?
    With hope you soothe me in your whim
            To take it all away?
This wretchedness is black as tar,
I taste the bitter blood!
There's darkness hidden in the depth
of who I used to be
I am like a leaf, played with by the wind
Do not turn eyes away...!
Torment me not, with heartless lust....
                                     as flesh turns into dust!
Premium Member Thunder Love In Me
Oh take me to that place I long to go
where fantasy breaks out of gilded cage
the wanton ways of pleasure I must know
when pent up passion is allowed to rage
Come enter in the garden of my need
where succulence awaits in fruit so sweet
Let fingers circle round and dip in greed
awaiting time to taste of lover's treat
With cherry flavored essence gloss your lips
as fingers tug your hair in urgency
hold tight to curves of undulating hips
as I indulge my sensual revelry
Now thunder love in me with manly might
As passion takes us to that burst of light
Premium Member Looking At Life Through Rose Colored Glass and Daydreams
“Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope.”
? Dr. Seuss
Looking At Life Through Rose Colored Glass and Daydreams
I gaze up towards the sky watching all the birds’ flyby
  Whoosh, with outstretched wings they fly so high
Soaring into the horizon
Amongst the crayoned clouds and autumn sun
~
Wishing I could fly, escaping into the sky
 Saying goodbye losing myself in the serenity of the bluish sky
Fading away unseen into blissful fantasy dreams
Another way of looking at life through rose colored glass it seems
 ~
To relish the sparkling beauty of the sky
And circle round and round over tree tops up high
Soaring into the horizon
Amongst the crayoned clouds and autumn sun
~
Oh... in anguish knowing I couldn't fly
I cried and cried until the tears ran dry
Shhh...I ran away into blissful fantasy dreams
Looking at life through rose colored glasses and daydreams
Revolutions of Romance
Joe was right.
I think about love,
All day and all night.
I'm in love this love
Is a circle round and
Round I go, out of
Control I'm in love.
I've turned more than
Two pi radians faster
Than 100 rpms. I need
To market this workout
At a relationship help
Gym.  No I better not
No more details
I wanna keep what I've got
Turning on another
Wheel gives me no thrill.
I'm loving these revolutions
Of romance for real.
Footprints
Mist rises off the clear cobalt sea
as the heat of the morning sun
brings thoughts of your passion
the wet blanched sand seeps
deep between my bare sundrenched toes
 trudgingly I walk along the shore
head focused down
following footprints
footprints of days long gone
how hand in hand we walked this very beach
we had our dreams
we had our future
hanging before us,
 all within reach
sea birds circle round
searching for their morning meal
singing a beautiful tune
bringing back memories
of how my heart would dance
how it would beat, a different beat
as your soul would sing to me a soft solemn promise
Oh how do I love you so
as the tide rushes in
and the water blankets my feet
like you would blanket my fears
I think of how you would hold me close
kiss me gently
run your fingers through my hair
make my fear disappear
 soothe my heart and mind
let me see when I was blind
As the sun begins to climb
I think, I can't help but think
I wonder, I can't help but wonder
Why can't I stop loving of you?
