Premium Member Chimney Swift
My precious chimney swift
Envy alone
Has named you so mundane
Tethered to the slightest pause
Amid your life upon the wing
Describing you as drab
Cigar shaped
And flying like a bat
While within me
Your beauty burns
And I thank you so for that
For from my human complications
The conditions of my sin
You...

The Secret Lives of Chimney Pots Ii
Gazing down along the zealously
Monitored borders of well clipped
Evergreen Privet hedges.
Standing watchful guard over
Divisions
Re-enforced by concrete posts and
Darkly stained, wooden, wavy-lap
Fences;
Age-old neighbourly disputes, petty
Grudges and childish jealousies -
Ably demonstrated by various
Patchworks of shabbily constructed
And hastily planted defences!

Seated high in our remote eyries
We watch...

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

The Secret Lives of Chimney Pots I
Cluttering above huddled rooftops
Of sprawling villages
And shy provincial towns;
Rising sharply amidst swooping
Declinations;
Hesitating when gathering at the
Tangled woodland perimeters of
Outlying greenland bounds,
Jostled apex ridges detach among
Themselves...
When habitually roused from early
Mornings
Newly awakened sounds.

Electrical milk floats whir and
Bustle around manna-strewn,
Cherry-blossomed streets;
Clinking bottles in blue
Plastic crates
Rattle in monotonous...

Premium Member Santa, Chubby Can't Hurry Down My Chimney Tonight
Santa's stuck inside my chimney this year
His tummy's too big and so is his rear
I saw him hanging there
I'm filled with despair
Because on my roof are his eight reindeer

Rudolph's shiny red nose is much too bright
And it continues to blink through the night
It glows in...

The Secret Lives of Chimney Pots Vi
Strategically placed when raised
Upwards
By your masterful and well
Practiced hand.
To mingle with ever changing
Skylines
That frown down with arrogant
Scowls
Upon the indigenous populous of
This just and tolerant island.
To study and pontificate upon
Predictable behaviour,
When so lamentably remarking,
Then to inwardly digest;
Our conclusions...

Premium Member Chimney Smoke
What escapes from your chimney reveals the contents of your heart,
Whether borne of Love or not, of which, your smoke will impart.
If Love is present, living, within your beating heart,
Puffs of pleasant, sweet smoke from your chimney will depart.

But... with a heart void of Love,...

The Secret Lives of Chimney Pots Iv
Pied tidings of suburbian
Magpies,
Squawking and squabbling,
Quarreling ferociously among
Themselves -
Rush to steal
From off the beleaguered bird
tables,
To the annoyance of all concerned,
A much begrudged meal;
Before scurrying away into
Unfrequented woodlands,
Marooned like islands in the
Midst of becalmed yellow seas,
To pervade the shifting groves
With...

The Secret Lives of Chimney Pots V
Spawned from the loins that
Perpetuated the loyal serfs mongrel
Seed:-
These peoples of a conditioned and
"Resigned-To-it-all" breed.
Born into the enveloping tedium
Of interlocking days...Interwoven
With interlocking days -
Victims of stark circumstance
And vague promises unmade.
Gregariously living out their lives
When warmly embraced by
Every self-serving boast brazenly
Conveyed...
To be exploited, and thus,
Insidiously...

The Secret Lives of Chimney Pots Iii
Marching out of the cloaked shires
Of landowners, stockbrokers,
Hereditary Peers, and ruddy faced
Squires:
A vast multitude of many varied
Tribes.
Amassing in the great cities, where,
Inhabiting shadowy chambers,
Behind nodding sighs and hushed
Whispers,
The Masonic Civil Servant plots and
Confides.
Standing vigil above forgotten
Monuments
And bronzed statues, that,...

The Chimney
I’ve come back to the place where I had grown,
a place no more as it once was known.
Not a roof, not a room, not one wall left,
just an old, weathered chimney standing alone.

An ill-tempered wind swept from the hillside tops
that spun relentlessly through the leafless...

Premium Member Chimney Guck
Santa was not having very good luck
While in a chimney his mask became stuck
He hollered and tried to yell
But it was muffled and fell
Then had to chew his mask free full of guck

Premium Member The Chimney
The chimney now stands alone
Without the home that was filled with love
A relic of what once had been gone

All the children left for places unkown
Father left many years ago for above
The chimney now stands alone

It once radiated warmth from its stones
As mother cooked meals unconceived...
