Premium Member Happy Birthday, Andrea

How Poetry Began, such plots you tell!
A Tale Of Fire And Ice you wrote so well
Poor Peter Pumpkin bid a sad adieu
Pink Cherry Blossoms was your first haiku
You Echo, Silent Still - love's dream come true.

Bright Eyes plays violin with sweet refrain
It Matters Not, a lovely swap quatrain
Rock Turtles - monoku criteria
The Wintered Soul Among Wisteria
Hidden Beauty - bittersweet rondeau
Dear Juliet waits for her Romeo
And Then Are Times in 'Six Days of Sistine'
Yesterday's Joys, a quatern most pristine.

At Winter's End, a triolet of spring
Night, A Pantoum Lullaby to sing
Destiny, so dark; more painfully:
Reflecting on Police Brutality
Each Little Drop of Rain I See goes 'plink'
An Empty Tissue Box in tear-stained ink.

Dogs and Cats, of these you often write
In Strangler's Wood, those shadows quake at night
Eternal Breath, for one who died too soon
This Night you're floating under stars and moon
Revelation In the Rain, poor her!
I'm Huck - that's right, the novel character
Cinder Girl, burned badly by a boy
Happy birthday, Andrea - enjoy!

September 5th:
Happy birthday to a Soup superstar, prolific poetess, constant commenter, splendid sonneteer, marvelous mentor, word warrior, supportive sponsor, and fabulous friend!

Aw My Feathered Friends

This is my humble tribute to our dear Soup member Constance La France, using some of her poem titles. This is, again, inspired by the "Title Wave" contest that was sponsored by our Soup member Richard Lamoureux last year. Thank you Richard Lamoureux for the inspiration and thank you dear Constance for the wonderful titles in pages and pages of poems you had contributed to Soup and I enjoyed writing this. I wish that I/we find time to read more of the beautiful inspiring poems of Constance, that she has contributed to Soup. (Below, the titles I have used for this tribute for Constance are in quotes. I have not capitalized the words within the titles as they were.)

"In my dreamy spring garden",
I often hear the "melody of dawn".
"The birds call me" as they know
how much I revel in listening to their songs.
When I close my eyes, at times, I hear
"the fluttering feather" of birds and I feel
they wish to chit-chat with me.

"Wandering in nature" in my dreamy garden
"where memories linger"
I see the "sunrise, gold and yellow":
a "breathtaking" view indeed.
"In meadows of sun", I see
a beautiful "hummingbird"
rapidly "fluttering" his translucent wings
"oh! sweet hummer".
As "the beauty of birds" enthrall me,
in a sweet corner of a tree branch,
two "birds in love" were preening each other
"oh! happy spring".

The fine "tapestry of nature"
as seen in my enchanting garden
invites all kinds of birds
with bright colourful "feathers".
My garden is a safe haven for birds
"where the bluebirds sing".
My soul is soothed by the sweet song of "nightingale".

"A bird of green is singing",
Aw! what a melody -
"Oh, the echo of birds chirping" and
the warble of "the bird vireo"
bring harmony here to stay:
"A gang of sparrows"
are seen "flying in the sky"
"oh! how heavenly"
now, "I would like to fly away", along with them!

Premium Member In the Harem of the Flower Kisser

at the break of dawn
a Hummingbird starts his rounds
 Morning Glory sought

flaunting a red hue -
Mexican Sunflower tempts
looking hot, hot, hot

the Don Juan of birds
sucking nectar from Beardtongue. . .
drunk on French kisses

Goldenrod at noon. . .
Zephyr carries a sweet scent
beneath a gold sun

between Rose bushes
the Flower Kisser gets lost
in Blue Infinity

Sweet Pea and Bee Balm
entice with purple petals. . .
Bees join the orgy

Monarchs swarm in droves
when blue Hummingbird alights
on Butterfly Bush

Evening Primrose
waving in the dusk’s last breeze. . .
the proper lover

the Flower Kisser
leaves his harem sated as
white Moonflower glows

Let's Drive, Shall We?

There are different levels of truth
I climb
   Staircases
	That
	       Go
	            Far
                                      Beyond
		                         Comprehension
Reality is made of thoughts
Spiraling and humming
Like they are something
But in the end
They are all just ideas
Driving to nowhere except
Waiting to be found and
Put into motion
Heights of control
Shift to third and go above
Everyone is an enigma
I fall in affection
constantly
With myself
Metamorphosing

Who am I to ask of perfection?
I is always capitalized
but what if
i is i and we are we, and he, we together
make something different, completely?

Manufacturing lines put together
Vehicles that take soul imprinted notions
on midnight drives by the avenue
Sell them to the Lord, to the Devil
'Tis all the same
For goodness sake, heaven is simply
What we make it

Premium Member Hear and Now

The name of this poem is "…" So the first line is shown.
The system would not let me put that in the title box. Sew, so...

...

Hear and now, know here and now, no! No!
It is all wrong, “aint” that a fact?
No. Really… no.

Aint, paint, saint, I feel faint.
! Yes. Use that one. ! Use it again!!! (! Symbol and then…)
How about a ? ? (? Symbol for question and then ? for punctuation correct)
That is odd. Let us not discuss txting. (texting, xing, dead when driving)

Small “c”, big “C”, capitalized.
What about the rest of the letters?
Are numbers okay to use, if I forget how to spell, to, two, too much?
Paints in the box. The letters the shapes the textures of life.
Smell them. Take them in with every wiff, whiff? (Onomatopoeia, can you sing that?)

Double “dd”, double “tt”, double “oo”, wrong word score.
Spear, fear, mear, mere, “find the thesaurus”.
Have you ever spent time reading one?
You should.

The dictionary was badly burned in 1963.
No one nose, no's, knows who set the fire…
We did not land on the moon.
It was a sad day, but our people came home.
Safe.
The world moved on…

Remember when they gave spelling tests?
Three times each and every word, every line, get one wrong then do nine!
Are you still wondering the name of this poem? (...)
Laughter is the best place to begin looking at ourselves.

Mixed paint in a tray. Pencils, pens, art in words…Free Speech!
Hold on to your flag...
We, all of us… build sentences,
erect paragraphs and dream up skyscraper stories.
We swirl and whirl words around until they fit together,
The effort to find the perfect match.
The ultimate combination of acceptance and understanding.

Authors don’t get to stand and sing on stage, we must be quiet.
Storytellers rarely receive the time they need to fix the uncertain details.
Maps are lost, tiny jewels fall between the cracks,
but swiftly pens capture, miracles and even an epiphany.
Patient warriors, working for no one on earth,
fixed on collecting nothing more
than the truth.

Resolved Again

Resolved: I’ll make a MOCKERY of death,
metaphoric wake may open my eyes.
I’ll ADORN kitchen walls with shibboleth -
an OPULENCE of signs which look passé.
using words like “Get Up and Exercise”,
“Calories Count” and “Don’t Forget to Weigh.”

I will EXULT VICARIOUS free time:
tasting all those shows on the loss of weight,
eating less, letting those dinner bells chime,
keeping my IMPETUS under corral.
A SILKEN body I will re-create
giving resolution, new rationale.

This year, I’ll cross the CHASM of my death,
downfall of pounds, weight’s passing does take time.

down on bended knees.

Master is the name rightfully spoke,
With a capitalized letter first
to feel the thorn of a Masters scorn
is ultimately the worst.

Little slave you will learn,
you gave yourself to me
what's divine, is only mine
and one day soon you'll see.

We are taught to respect the Free,
and a Mistress is the same
she shows love, with rod and glove
on whomever she does reign.

But you put your trust into them,
because they're supposed to care
if they're good, they do as they should
and will treat you fair.

Sexy as the BDSM world might sound,
people live it day to day
what has begun, as only fun
might carry you away.

There is a world of Gor,
I have RP'd online
all their rules, and guilded tools
might not fit your design.

I have tried both worlds,
online it is safer to try
use your mind, it's your first time

Captivated by its freedom,
I had to take a break
but just one day, again I will play
in sinful fun, I will partake.

It is my understanding that this was not considered for a "Traditional Haiku" contest because the first line is Capitalized and and likely also because there is a comma after 'panes'. I think this is silly but such, I'm told, are the rules of "Traditional Haiku"

I Will Tell You

You ask me why you need God, yes God with G capitalized
Whose only begotten Son’s precious life was sacrificed
I will tell you in simple words, not with that of the erudite
But those that come from my heart, and from the Book of Light.

I will start with a question, much like the one you posed
For in this way we each would know, it is truth I depose
Does a man need air to breathe? Does he need it to survive?
In the same way we need air, we need God in our lives.

You may say a man would die, without air instantaneously
Yet you have been fine all these years, thinks at God occasionally
Why are you then still alive, while His Son had to suffer and die?
But you forget Christ rose again, the third day, that’s no lie.

On man surviving without God, is rich and even popular
We cannot compare earthly time, with that of time eternal
What is man’s time on earth, but a hairbreadth, a tick
When he dies his soul’s destined, to a forever place he’s picked.

A masterpiece, a product, the maker has conceptualized
Comes with operating manual, functions fully harmonized
When that product is therefore used, without following instruction
It will cause a side effect, a malfunction or destruction.

Much like that of man therefore, though free will he was given
Created in God’s own image, to serve a purpose he's bidden
The design for which he was formed, because his heart is marked
An inner craving for higher being, for peace of mind he’d hark.

I may still go on and on, yet convince you I can’t be sure
I can only hope I have stirred, questions on eternal future
For I am sure you have heard of them, when staring death to its eyes
Those in God have peaceful smile, those who don’t sheer terror lies.

Let me end therefore with verse, His Word from the greatest Book
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb”, take a look
At how much God loves you, He knew you before you were born
He’s waiting, open your heart to Him, His grace is new every morn.

Capitalizing On Capitalism

Capitalism has been blamed by worthless people rich in power and other peoples' money.

True capitalism earns money.
Jobs are created by capitalists.
Workers earn a living from them.
Bankers gather together workers savings and use this money to create more by usury. This is not capitalism,
although they do capitalize on other peoples earnings
(and greed)
They also are "The Federal Reserve"
(They run the money!!) Not congress (They passed it off)
Politicians have capitalized on their positions to such an extent that anyone elected to congress is set for life
even if he is never re-elected.
They made these rules.
They decided their salaries and benefits.
They decided how much to tax us.
They created offices and positions of power, departments of "Government"
At incredible costs to us all.
To the point that other governments in less free countries use their peoples' money to lend to us.

 We have been sold out.
The blame is being put on "Big Business" "Wall Street" and all those rich Capitalists

Our representatives, Your representatives have no alternative than to turn to Socialism in order to keep lining
their pockets and living beyond their means.

It is too late to seek and elect real representatives.
They own (have bought) the majority of voters.
America has been stolen.

Me? just another sucker! But at least now you(the reader) know what you've lost
(Or stolen)

Note:
NOEL capitalized : means christmas
English speakers borrowed the word noel from French. It can be traced further back to the Latin word natalis, which can mean "birthday" as a noun or "of or relating to birth" as an adjective. (The English adjective natal has the same meaning and is also an offspring of natalis.). Noels were being sung in Latin or French for centuries before the word found its way into our language in the 1800s. The earliest known musical use of noel occurred in the text of a Christmas motet called "Nova vobis gaudia," which was written in the 1400s.

Namaste:
an ancient Sanskrit greeting still in everyday use in India and especially on the trail in the Nepal Himalaya. Translated roughly, it means "I bow to the God within you", or "The Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you" - a knowing that we are all made from the same One Divine Consciousness.
