Best Call To Mind Poems

Premium Member A Wish, a Song, a Prayer

May you call to mind cherished lullaby, or prayer,
something tried and true, when it seems no one is there.
Sound and reason, oft times, circumvent the ear
when the shadows drown to expose our every fear.

May you memorize every word in heart and mind
with the melody and its time not far behind.
Soul may weep with tears if the spirit's well-aligned,
but this one-two punch is a plan of good design.

It makes silent that which torments, blinds our view;
stops us drinking from that toxic monster's brew;
chases misery with heartfelt plea anew ~
In the act, we call to arms His whole darn crew.

Let the song console you, mitigate your woes;
as you ruminate, let it soothe your weary soul.
Sing aloud or silently to tempo slow
as your earnest prayer clears a path to daybreak's glow.

Never judge, it's ours to do with as we please;
as we stand, we fall to frail and fragile knees.
Bumped and bruised, we long for modicum of ease,
yet such sweet collapse finds us lost in stormy seas.

You've escaped the depths, you can do it once again,
and again, my friend, if you must. Do not give in.
You are stronger than you ever could conceive.
When you have a choice, choose hope. Always believe.

That Dark Place

"That Dark Place"

that place

where hope waits torturously in vain
and strength is found cloaked in the kinder darkness
it waits patiently in that remote singular quiet
a neat corner of solitude back-of-house
where sonnets call to mind jangling contemplation
of under promises and over zealous outcomes
romancing poésies pressed between
the seconds and the hours, the days and years missed
the metronome tick-ticks luring forth integrity
from phantoms outside of imagination
such a rare well-hidden jewel dangling
on the end of a long chain of events
to find courage sorely missing front-of-house
on its card table of tricks that dark place its truth well lit
and the light once switched, changes the shade

of everything

Premium Member My Memory Is Slipping Away

I call to mind our nights till dawn
Watching the sunrise
Beautiful was that ocean of gold sky
We looked into each others eyes with love

Our future was a lovely rose unfolding
We had many wonderful dreams
Our life's had no shadows just open roads
And in dreams you exist

So sad
This love is lost
So sad
I pray to God with tears
So sad
Just another empty day
And I go to our secret place
So sad
I loved you, I think
My memory is slipping away

I call to mind an adventurous boyish man
I am still breathless when I think of you
Were you a dream?
(Were you a dream?)

So sad
This love is lost
So sad
I pray to God with tears
So sad
Just another empty day
And I go to our secret place
So sad
I loved you, I think
My memory is slipping away

The pages of my life have turned
And I wish that our journey did not end
Your motorcycle and the road met
And I travelled on without you by my side
I want to scream but I keep it inside my soul
My memory is slipping away

So sad
This love is lost
So sad
I pray to God with tears
So sad
Just another empty day
And I go to our secret place
So sad
I loved you, I think
My memory is slipping away

my throat growls
breathless anticipation- -
I open your note

Never having heard your voice, I will choose, choose to love the way your thoughts
vibrate along my sympathetic spine, the intertwining, inclining, irritating, yet,
satiating flow of your verbs.

perfumed scent
wafts from tear stained pages- -
euphoria trails

Never having touched your skin, I will love you for the comfort tea of your purely
honest soul. Even though, I may not call to mind a scent, the musk of your cologne,
your adjectives and adverbs, dress and undress my day.

tears flow joyfully- -
perhaps in another life
to be quenched

I am ever jealous of your sweet wife, yet, I will always, for love which cares not for
the selfish self, leave you happy in her arms.

Premium Member Ponder

“To ponder is to wander-
midst memories and yonder.”
            __by Poet

I oft ride down my dear memory lane-
recalling those that filled up special years,
to ponder, safeguard those which I retain-
that show my smiles still winning over tears.

I do remember childhood days with joy,
and, reminiscing on my family,
I recollect the ways they helped employ
to shape my life- then pass to me the key.

Nostalgically, I search in retrospect
and call to mind the gifts I leave behind
reflecting all the ways I could connect
accepting strength to foster peace of mind.

I ponder life as I look through this scope-
expand their gifts of love, with faith, and hope.

Premium Member When Seasons Speak

When seasons speak
of warm and blue and bright
They call to me
           with everything in sight

To worry not
           the problems of the day
To just enjoy
           the love of nature’s way

When seasons speak
of war and hate and pain
They call to mind
of what there is to gain

Another win
                 another plot of land
The toll of death
             another bloodied hand

I wonder how
just how one comes to choose
Bullets to flowers
                with so much to lose

Premium Member Love Under the High School Bleachers

LOVE UNDER THE HIGH SCHOOL BLEACHERS
Some time ago, within a memory
deep in my dark, and most forbidden past,
when I recall your teaching only me,
there in the dark--with love that could not last!

Nor would we ever have such love today--
such great delight--but wicked from the start,
'tis in the past--and there must always stay,
but just a trace is here--to warm my heart;

so I can call--to mind--if late at night
when love seems not to be what love should be,
and I can feel in me, with great delight--
your love again--your lesson given me.

Here-in I be--still deep in love with you
the half-time of our love I'm going through.

Mundane Beauty

A cluster of Day Lilies glow
like embers beneath the shadow
of a time-worn Box elder tree
that’s plainly visible to see
if looking for mundane beauty.
Their golden flowers so briefly
lived poses for a single day;
at days end they wither away.
Their presence always call to mind
that beauty last the briefest time
but I possess a memory
where beauty lives eternally.
Though they will die I’d soon exhume
I’d close my eyes they’d still be bloomed.

Free Cee For a Fraction of Forever

FOR A FRACTION OF FOREVER

Do you ever feel through forever and remember me?
A vibrant me who vowed the Vienna we would visit on vacation
And share the space of one stool set aside serendipity
When your wishes would be the only legal tender
While tenderness tamed torment

Do you recall the message our souls united once sent?
Anyone who saw us knew
Anyone who saw us saw only you
For you commanded one’s stare
With golden hair woven of wonder
And eyes that call to mind a sky you soared when you were only ten
With a sun that wished you ever back to when

When fickle snowflakes flicked themselves off a forest’s foliage
And love arrived in a slay pulled by two dreams and one reality
Everything else
In actuality
Becomes a triviality
For triumph becomes trivial when it tries to outshine the aura of an angel
Be that angel you
Be that angel true
That I might flight to take with you
And make with you a home formed from the fantasy of forever
And the beating heart of a flower plucked from the prettiest part of perpetuity
And granted its grace unto you
A lady whose eyes birthed blue
And whose gaze grows by the phase of the moon
That syncopation and a sultry song might swoon
But songs fade
Music becomes mistiness
And the band bows to the bewilderment of twilight
When, as surely as night falls
A question calls
Do you ever find me in the center of forever?

Premium Member Klara Hitler - His Mother's Eyes

...KLARA HITLER - HIS MOTHER'S EYES
Does not the glow of Heaven call to mind
The tears of ev'ry mother in her plight?
Such beauty was the love he'd never find,
Perhaps to lead him on, through wrong or right.

And so, this Alter Boy, who loved to sing,
Swelled up her heart, and made her blue of eyes,
Much brighter than her chosen love could bring,
To guide her Alter Boy through truth or lies.

Always he'd feel his mother's tender glow.
Perhaps to make the wrong seem not so bad,
And if she wept alone, he'd never know,
Because his mother's love is all he had.

And all the pain of knowing, truth, it dies,
changed not the color of his Mother's eyes.

Premium Member Hints of Autumn

As lonely sighs drift across the mountaintops
Mists linger ‘til midmorning, caressing trees
It's evident that the temperature slowly drops,
For a chill is accompanying the August breeze.

Slight hints of color nestle in along the crown
As lonely sighs drift across the mountaintops
A few leaves, growing tired, are drifting down
For autumn leans heavily on August’s props.

Predicting summer’s sodden humid day’s sops
We can enjoy hints of coming autumn’s glamor
As lonely sighs drift across the mountaintops
They call to mind the end of summer’s clamor.

Be still and you can hear echoes of September
Chants of “the hills are alive” music never stops,
The lovely days of August, always to remember
As lonely sighs drift across the mountaintops.

Vivas In Deo, Live In God

Vivas in Deo (live in God)

Through thick and thin,
life goes on.
With strong faith in God,
hope assures like a light
along the path of life.

Moments of darkness,
moments of pains.
There's always a space
where God dwells.

It's a continuing cycle,
a taste of everything.
That life embraces within
the heart of every human being.

I call to mind heretofore,
the great Latin poet Virgil,
he once wrote, "trahit sua quemque voluptas"
(everyone is drawn by his own desire)
and it's my desire:
to live in God
throughout my life.

Premium Member Harry's Barbershop

A cluttered barbershop in my old hometown I fondly call to mind,
Was a gathering place to loaf and socialize, a great place to unwind!
Harry, the barber, kept farmers, the local rabble and boys like me,
Looking right smart, clipping hair and shaving necks for a two-bit fee!

Outside, as raging winter storms amassed piles of drifting snow,
The old pot-bellied stove radiated warmth setting hearts aglow!
The shop rang with debates about politics and the charms of local females.
Hiding behind a comic book I learned some mighty intriguing details!

Harry's shop had just one old wrought-iron footrest barber's chair.
Thereupon hung a strop with which he honed razors with flair.
In a cream-colored cabinet, Harry stored the tools of his trade;
Brushes, straight razors, shaving cups and pungent oils of pomade!

Wall posters depicted sports figures and women scantily clad,
Also, ads for Vitalis, Brylcreem and other concoctions to be had.
In the back was a room where ne'er-do-wells usually hung around,
Enjoying a smoke or playing checkers - fellowship would abound!

Adding to the cozy setting was Harry's inscrutable cat.
No one dared move him from the chair where he always sat!
Harry and his quaint barbershop are now forever gone,
But to the memory of those simpler times I will e'er be drawn!

Take a Look

"Take A Look"

Oh!! Look where JESUS brought me from...just stop, take a second look.
I am so thankful and grateful how His amazing love joined forces, and brought me through, not to mention his grace and mercy.

We all expect and look for another day, another tomorrow, another opportunity. My existence, my being, my hope would instantly come to nothing in the twinkling of an eye...

I depend on you LORD Jesus for your sustaining power, for every breath...

I serve an All Powerful God!

Lord Jesus, I will n-e-v-e-r forget You are my shield and protector. King of kings and Lord of lords. Your amazing love, protection, provisions, and most of all, the sustainer of my life. To God be the glory...

Jesus is worthy of all praise, the supplier of all my needs seen and unseen, the One who made me whole again, restoring me with soundness of mind and complete healing...

No more unstableness in my balance and coordination. No more use of my walker or cane. My strength and my being comes from the Lord.

My Lord will never go unnoticed, always acknowledged with praise and worship...

Each new day brings about new mercies. Each challenge is only to make me strong. Each day I witness new blessings.

We serve a GOD
 of a second chance...

"Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed for his compassions never fail. They are NEW every morning, great is your faithfulness"...(Lamentations 3:21-23)
