Going All Bruce Lee

"Going All Bruce Lee"

It’s like holding water
in your hands.
they say, be like water
as if on the drop,
the turn of H20 on tap,
one can go all Bruce Lee.

he was rather gung-ho;
but the subliminal message
he projected, without malice
in his lithe fluidity
brought on dreamy visions

of going all soft
and compliant.

one might say
malleable,
with the flow.
water has its hard moments
like when it turns to ice.

frozen in cold
abrupt moments.

I read a poet, tonight,
she says,

“consciousness swims slick
outside my fingers,
trembling perceptions
pure and round.
Infinitely slow
I close my grip,
entrapping and watch
them drown”.

I felt that.
I felt that.

Memories of what was
solid once, drift down
with the heaviness of time,
weight sinking through the
lightness of water.

Sun shines
through water.
it touches
the top to mid-section
doesn't mean it rhymes

in time with
what is beautiful
and poetic. Sometimes
the beauty lies, ugly,
at the bottom,

covered in silt.
drowned.
you know what I mean.
I know you know
what I mean.

Sunshine never
touches that place.
but treasure and
objects of beauty
lie there, waiting to be found.

the silt residing
with sunken treasure,
that which also lies
with car wrecks, sifting
rotting useless tenure,

carries residual essence.
there is found forgotten
moments of beauty and
pleasure in the discarded
flotsam and jetsam

washed up on a shore,
like memories
begging to be gripped
in palms that want
to be read. it aint shiny and new.

shells held to an ear,
there is message
in the sound;
we are just, content
with the mystery of it all.

"Empty your mind.
Be formless, shapeless,
like water.
You put water into a cup,
it becomes the cup."

Me and drowned
Bruce Lee, in the end
floating memories.
war came in like
a flood, no ark

nor shipped
platform to be
saved.
Memories dissolve
like aspirin.

We swallow
all we love
and understand,
the meaning of it all
hits us on review.

eventually,
we float
immortal
into other worlds
on the next tsunami.

dry bed
or wet,
we sink, we rise,
we float away
into other worlds.

we accept
the contract.
we ride the next wave.

What reality has done to Bruce Jenner,
once on top, an Olympic gold winner.
Although he still has his gold,
he’s now on the bottom doing as told!

Premium Member During the Job Interview, I Was Worried the Interviewer Hadn'T Heard Fire By Bruce Springsteen

his nose was distracting
but so was mine
i listened to it ; in the car on the way
there
the bass was in my brain

what if he'd never heard it?
the questions kept coming
questions about
stuff
thinking about the book of judges
i saw paintings

i followed him home
hid beneath the window pane
but heard nothing

i didn't get the job

Bruce Jender

There once was a man named Bruce Jender.
Decided that he'd change his gender.
He grew out his hair.
And then he used nair.
She's tired of being a pretender.

Premium Member Bruce Played a One String Bass

Once was a folk singer back in the sixties
It was surely my time to shine
Along with the great Peter Paul and Mary
They seemed like good friends of mine

A group of six, The Canadiana Folksingers
Appeared on Canadian TV
A couple of albums and two or three shows
Played banjo, sure looked geeky

Hi Jolly was our biggest success
Wherever we went they clamoured for it
Did I tell you Bruce played a one string bass
It added some charm I'll admit

Wife Linda was one of the two girl singers
Sure prettied up the group I'll say
Didn't make much money but that didn't matter
The joy hasn't left to this day

Not everyone can say they were part of a group
Twas a very special time in my life
Wish I could go back and relive it again
A great time for me and my wife

For Bruce Springsteen

for bruce springsteen...

it was a rain-swept monsoon day

way back then, so many moons away

when i felt the music strumming in my veins

setting me free like a runaway horse without any reins

you sang of simple truths,

your verse spoke to people just like me

in my lonely, wasted, and desolately quiet night

as you screamed out tragic human wrongs, and of everyone's plight

'bobby jean' spoke to me

of that girl down the street

glimpses of whom, we as innocents would furtively meet

and 'the river' that flowed through my ever-barren heart

led me down further roads of thunder

when slowly i finally learnt that the hardest part was fighting on

and never to surrender

to the hard-luck dreams that were born to run

while i danced in the dark

with memories vivid and stark

even as i whined like that dog who for forever lost his howling bark

and then a 'human touch' came along

and 'better days' seemed real, not just words in a song

and still you sang and swayed and spoke straight into my unseeing eyes

as gardens of secrets were opened, and as your fist punched the skies

in an anger that i too felt and in whose cauldron i too burned

as we saw murder get incorporated, while on its wobbly axis, our fragile world apathetically turned

and then suddenly i was told that i was all grown up

working on a highway of scattered ideals

and absolving myself by sprinkling some coins in a waiting cup

well, after all these years of walking along so many a thorny road

with an armour of your verse covering me, even as i hear them taunt me and even as they continue to goad

but now i can feel myself fading away, into the bleakness of this coming night

just like the ghost of that old tom joad...

*The goose of Bruce is finally cooked, for the cook got a look
at the fool that snuck up from behind *to goose the beautiful cook.

*For non-native English speakers:
If your goose is cooked it means you are in trouble.
To goose someone is to pinch his or her butt!

Premium Member Excuse Bruce

There was a fellow named Bruce
Who always had an excuse
When his wife caught him cheating
She gave him a beating
And threw him out on his caboose

So he went to his mistress
in desperation and distress
But he got under her skin
as his excuses grew thin
So she threw him out, she wasn't impressed

Bruce and Ali----Dedicated To Silent One

"BRUCE And ALI"

*Written and Dedicated to "Silent One!
whose admiration for these two is as
mine!*

This is a poem about two men
who were both extraordinary!
Their skills were unmatched
and remain so to this day-
one's named
"BRUCE"
and the other
"ALI!"

Both were
"Masters"
and really excelled
in the world of combative arts!
They are both now
"legends"
and will be forever-
for in their time
they had no
counterparts!

One was a master boxer,
"The Heavyweight Champion"
was he!
In the sport known as
"the Sweet Science"
"The Greatest Of All Time!"
was he, you see!

His bouts were against
the best in his class!
His style posed a problem
with which to cope!
He even came up
with a name for it...
he called it the....
"Rope-A-Dope!!!"

There is a phrase
he's now famous for!
It is quoted often,
you see!
Who's never heard
and doesn't know-
"Float Like A Butterfly-
Sting Like A Bee!!!"

Now Mr. Bruce Lee,
he was one of a kind!
There has never been another!
This man could do things
with his hands and his feet-
anyone he faced
he "REALLY"
could smother!

He gave a line
in one of his films
when an intimidator
tried a new tack!
The guy broke a board
trying to threaten Bruce...
Bruce look right at him
and said
"Boards Don't Hit Back!!!"

He was also quite
the philosopher.
His style was called
"Jeet Kune Do!"
He said
"Be Like Water, My Friend!",
and like water
you must always "flow!"

Now these two men
are heroes of mine
and forever will they be!
One is....
"The Dragon",
the other is
"The Greatest Of All Time!"
They are "BRUCE"
and the other's....
"ALI!"
"ALI!"
"ALI!"

Bruce Kevin

MY STORY IS LONG AND OH SO SAD
HEROIN WAS HIS TRUE DEMISE

HE WORKED VERY LITTLE BUT THE FACT
IS KNOWN, HEROIN WAS THE CHOICE FOR
NOT ALCHOHOL ALONE

HE WAS A GOOD PERSON REALLY HE WAS
FOR HELPING OTHERS HE TRIED TO DO

HE WAS A POOR SOUL, THAT HAD LOST HIS WAY
WHAT A SHAME HE HAD SO MUCH PAIN

REMEMBERING BRUCE WHEN WE WERE GROWING UP
HIS HEART WAS GOOD AND HE HAD SO MUCH

A HOME, A CAR AND PARENTS WHO CARED

BUT THE DRUGS WON HIM OVER, HIS POOR SOUL IN NEED

HE DID TAKE MONEY AND STOLE THINGS, FROM THE FAMILY MY
DAD OH WHAT A MESS IT WAS TO HAVE BEEN FOR HIM

HE DIED ON MEMORIAL DAY 2003, LET US REMEMBER THAT OTHERS
ARE AT RISK AND I WAS TO TELL THE STORY OF BRUCE LIKE HE WANTED
TO INSTRUCT OTHERS TO BE OFF THIS HORRIBLE TRAIN
THE TRAIN THAT LED HIM TO SELF DESTRUCT,

BUT THE WONDERFUL
THING ABOUT MY BROTHER BRUCE
HIS KIND HEART AND SOUL WAS THE THING HE TRULY HAD THE MOST OF

WHAT A WASTE OF A HUMAN BEING WHO KNEW, THE HEARTACHE AND PAIN OF THE
DRUG CALLED HEROIN

Premium Member The Bruce, I Will Stand

I will stand in the heather,
I will stand in the glen,
I'll defend my Bannockburn,
With horse, pike and men.

As Bruce I command,
As Robert I will die,
But not on this day,
For English souls rise to the sky.

Remove them I will,
Send them o'er the hill,
Past Stirling and Falkirk,
Back to England yet still.

As Scots' we are strong,
Edward be damned wrong,
Tae' think he will be victor,
Today he is gone.

Seton gave me the clue,
Schiltron's stood fast and true,
Horsemen and Bowmen,
Fought as they knew,

That Scotland could prove,
It would rule through and through,
Without English invaders,
Marching on my moor.

Many lie dead,
Both English and Brave Scots',
But Edward is gone,
His army bloodied and lost.

Back to their home,
And leave mine tae' me,
At Bannockburn we stood,
And held Victory.

Bruce Jenner, Wheaties Winner

Bruce Jenner, Wheaties Winner

Can you imagine Bruce Jenner being a Wheaties winner
Becoming a women wanting to be much thinner
With quite a fine, attractive, adorable face
Wearing dress, high heels and blouse with lace.

What is world turning these confusing days
All of the many surprising ways of seeking praise
For child what kind of example is this setting
Trying to determine sex and fooling around and fretting.

Same sexes to each other now may be married to
A popular past time in church is becoming true
So what if Adam and Eve had both been gay?
None of us never ever would be here today.

James Thomas Horn
Retired Veteran and Poet

So if you are a man who changes sexes, you get
to ride around in $180,000 Porsche not a Lexus.
You might even have your own Television show
Because of the influential people that you know.
Will he even start his/her own religion Us weird
Episcopalians do accept same sex marriages and
have female priests and deacons. How about you?
PS needs a gay category I am beginning to believe.

Premium Member A Tribute To Bruce

I knew when I first saw you as a babe in your mother's arms.
Then as a young boy with your brother and sister.
After you became a teen and I didn't see you anymore for awhile.
You grew up and became a man taking on man's responsibilities.
You got married and had a family. I heard the Lord called you into service
for His name sake.
Now I've been told you went to our Father God yesterday.
You did the work, you fought the good fight. And now you rest.
Leaving those who love you behind. We will all remember the
best of times, laughter, joy, now peace.
So, go with the Angels to that Heavenly place.
Enjoy till we all meet again.
Love, Victory, Peace.
