Premium Member Together, At Last

Setting: A man and woman are reunited in a garden after an unbearably long separation. From the viewpoint of the man.

Now the sun is slowly rising o'er the mountains
And it lights a sea of diamonds on the flowers kissed with dew
It is shining golden beams into the garden
And they cast a shade of auburn on your hair of golden hue

So here is what I have to say:
The flowers in their beauty have seemed to fade
And here, these diamonds seem to be afraid
At sight of you
The trees, though standing strong and firm
Could not be half as staunchly ever true

While here upon the grass I stand
I'll hold your hand
And then we'll stroll about this garden for a day
I'll hear you say
The things that I have longed to hear
And perhaps we will share joy and tears

Being here by your side
Makes all cares to subside
For I know winds may blow
But the past is washed away
Now I'm here, and I'm here
Foreverlong to stay
Or so I pray

Now the sun is slowly setting in the garden
And the shades of fiery gold and orange have changed to grey and blue
The moon shines in your eyes this starry night
And words can't seem to tell the love I have for you.

Together At Last

They are laughing like naughty children calling out
As they run through the sweet smelling heather
Watching for a gnarled tree trunk to sit and rest about

Looking up into the sky they're wondering whether
The clouds will break and fine rain will fall
Nothing could  mar this moment of joy of being together

They sit close arms entwined shining eyes showing all
The love they have kept hidden all this while
Life has been tough apart as they waited for this  call

No more do they need a watch, time is no longer a trial
Together for always, kisses exchanged, love songs sung
Touching her sweet smelling hair he whispers with a smile

The years have not aged us as we waited for this moment we are forever young

FOUND AT LAST
.

Heading into the light of the infinity mass.
Thrills over a new breath, a shining smile made out of brass

Wondering if my energy will ever dissolve?
A slipknot tied on the world where we revolve.

Sublime in to a new kind of contrast.
A fate ending better than worse, no longer an outcast.

Appearing with TRONS no one solves.
Beyond and under where life really evolves.

Once death takes a toll real love will be found at last.
An afterlife so profound waiting~alas~alas!

SPRING AT LAST

spring
with snow
on the ground
what shall i wear
it’s fifty outside
not a cloud anywhere
the sky is two shades brighter
i feel just short of wonderful
and the forecast is “continued fair”
what shall i wear why a big smile of course

• He thinks back to a time, when he was so young.
M-16 on his shoulder, around his neck dog tags hung
Dense jungles made thin, by what they had sprayed.
His mind  drifts to home, and the places he played.
He thought he was melting, in heat so intense.
His skin bubbled and scorched, did this war make sense?
C-rations his food, his appetite gone.
Becoming so thin, but he had to stay strong!
Numb now to fear, the battle raged on.
Back home they were screaming,"Get out of the Nam"
Hendrix and Dylan, The Stones and The Doors.
His music of choice, during his tours.
Snakes in rice paddy's,snakes in the trees.
Mosquitos so thick, filled with disease.
Rats in bunkers, searching for scraps.
45 automatics, the better rat traps.
Sleeping in shifts, in holes dug chest high.
Claymores out front, M-60's close by.
Shrapnel flying, from rocket attacks.
Diving for cover, no time to relax.
Sneaky little enemy, they called them VC.
Living in tunnels, so hard to see.
Dressed in black, like everyone there.
They were all over, just didn't know where.
Home from it all, he no longer fit in.
So he stayed in a stuper as war raged within.
Three decades of anguish, then came that day.
He was finally rescued, and shown a new way.
A Savior from heaven said give me your pain, give me your sin, let none remain.
I love you, you see, you've suffered too long.
Get under my wing, with me you belong.
His chains were then broken and he was set free.
Free from his sin and PTSD
Joy fills his heart, where once was just pain.
His love for The Lord, he can not contain.
Thank You Jesus

Peace At Last - a Collaboration With Jan Allison

There are women who feel a strong need
To nag men until their ears bleed
In a war of attrition
With relentless petition
Is a cruel way to make men concede

Men wish for a life of peace
But get nagged by a tongue that won't cease
Men will just say
It's the female DNA
That must out in it's need for release

We can’t help it; we just HAVE to nag
Guess some folks would call us 'an old hag'
Men get on our nerves
When you paw at our curves
You should give up and wave the white flag

We can suffer from bad PMT,
Become ogres that men want to flee
We Scream and we Shout
Say We’ll throw you out
But for some reason you wont let us be

Better by far, we should try this next time
It's effective and will prove sublime
By wearing Earplugs
In each of our Lugs
We'll be laughing, whilst nagging - in Mime

Laughing together will lighten our day
It's a tonic to chase all our problems away
For a really Big Smile
Can last a long while
And we'll both get on better that way

TOGETHER AT LAST

[Verse 1]
A thousand sunset nights,
Dark shadows on the ground,
Can't drown out the light
When you were around.
Your voice from back then
Still whispers in my ear,
Girl, you in my sweatshirt,
The thought brings a tear.

[Pre-Chorus 1]
And though we're far away,
In my heart, you are here.
I'm still praying for the day
That the sun will reappear.

[Hook (Chorus)]
Something in this night sky
Tells me the storm will pass.
Your almond eyes come home,
Sweet girl, together at last.
Oh, together at last,
Oh, together at last...

[Verse 2]
Every star in the sky,
A reminder of what’s gone,
But I still hold on tight,
Even when the nights are long.
Memories dance like fireflies,
Lighting up the dark,
In the silence, we collide,
Your laughter leaves a mark.

[Pre-Chorus 2]
And though time moves on,
In my dreams, you're still near.
Every heartbeat's a song,
With your name echoing clear.

[Hook (Chorus)]
Something in this night sky
Tells me the storm will pass.
Your almond eyes come home,
Sweet girl, together at last.
Oh, together at last,
Oh, together at last...

[Bridge]
So here’s to the nights we’ll write
With laughter in the breeze,
Underneath the stars so bright,
Our hearts will find their ease.
Chasing dreams until they’re real,
In the warmth of your embrace,
With every moment that I steal,
I can feel our perfect space.

[Hook (Chorus)]
Something in this night sky
Tells me the storm will pass.
Your almond eyes come home,
Sweet girl, together at last.
Oh, together at last,
Oh, together at last...

[Outro]
A thousand sunset nights,
Can't drown out the light
'Cause girl, you’re still in my heart,
In this love that's infinite and bright.

She Was Free, At Last

~
The stones were many,
though still he climbed,
dismantling the mortar crusted wall,
leaving rubble in his wake
as he made his way to the top
Breathless, this world beyond
the border clung to its silence,
imprisoned by apprehension tightly
binding a heart fearful of opening,
like a clay jar of secrets,
brittle but sealed tightly
in the deepest cavern
of temptation

locks fastened as he
descended the other side slowly
taking in his surroundings
In the distance he could hear
the defined thud of the bolt
sliding snuggly into its chamber,
the click of assorted latches
in brassplate and silver
midst echoed sighs contemplating
wished for moans
as delicate hands trembled

What would come of this stranger
peering, traversing the maze
sculpted of thorned hedges
and meandering lies heard
lingering of past encounters
Would he bare truth,
could he be the one
to break these chains of uncertainty,
rusted of worry
but loosened by desire

When there he stood
in the gateway, shrouded by iron bars
of ornate woven design
draped in a cloak of confidence,
defiant of fear, gallant in approach
Not bearing jewels nor golden trinkets,
but offering honesty,
words of love in truthful promises
lined with forevers
once unimaginable

and she wept
for the sun had risen,
an amorous glow of crimson
and amethyst blinding the sadness
on a once forgotten horizon,
proclaiming a new day…
and she could see it,
she could feel it
and as he took her hand
she knew as they
walked towards it...
she was free,
at last

Happy New Year everybody!

A Winner At Last

I owned a racehorse that was renowned,
as only fit to be knackery bound,
bit it’s not a disgrace,
for it won its first race -
although inside the gut of a greyhound.

I love spring and all the bright spring flowers,
the daffodils, tulips the pansy blooms;
oh, I even love those warm spring showers.
I am drunk on all the flower scent fumes,
putting vases of blooms in all my rooms;
and some to brighten up family tombs.

Oh, welcome back sweet butterflies flying,
I love you all- the orange and the blue;
fluttering, drifting- I feel like crying.
Sweet, sweet painted ladies in every hue,
sometimes you come alone, at times a crew;
come, kiss the flowers that for you- I grew.

A robin finds a fat worm on my lawn,
little sparrows are gathering for nests;
and all the birds start their singing at dawn.
I love the concert- do not think them pests,
oh, woodpecker does tap, tap, taping tests;
a hummingbird lands on my hand and rests.

I have been waiting all winter for spring;
for you beloved spring- I want to sing.

Sanity is in fact the default setting
When dust settles
And dawn rises on a new day
Sober minds and eyes
Waking to see what needs being done
The hard and often dirty work of life
And not the wishful wistful dreams
Of hope and change

At Last We Pause

At Last we Pause
For: Robert Allen Wise
And at last we pause on dirty streets,
At somber rest with eternal peace.
A moment’s sleep on Satan's floor
With a constant dream of heaven’s door
The cry of battle has embrace its death
As vengeance draws its last breath
One good soul ascends abyss
Into the portal of eternal bliss.
A majestic voice said you may pass
A warriors shadow you have cast
The restless night that you have slain
Creates the dawn that you regain.
So dream no more of battles past
And awaken from your daunting task
This day of memory we give to you
My embattled brother with life anew.

At Last

Scared of a shadow
Scared of the phone
Scared of the dark
And being alone.
Will you come and get me
Break down my door
Lying in the dark
Footsteps on the floor.
Twenty years of haunting
A voice inside my head
Hiding
Remembering
A life-time of dread.
Contentment and happiness
A life that you don’t know
I’ve exorcised your ghost
It’s time for you to go.
