Best Amazon Poems
The Amazon River
The Capybara wades the shore
A Wooly monkey climbs a vine
To search for food up on the trees
The Amazon that I adore
Its total nature I will bind
Bromeliads have blushed with love
Blending in the waters shore
The Jaguar stalks to hunt his food
The Anaconda will digest
His conquest on the night before
Humans carefully sense the mood
The Fuana find their time to rest
Anteaters sniff upon the floor
for ants and bugs to sense for food
The Dolphins rise up then they fly
Agressively create a scene
Boats pass on by and view the sight
As a silent Caiman wades on by
The quiet of the night serene
Stars surround the forest night
The Dragonflies decide to fly
Stillness in the eerie night
Nature's forces will blend in
Insects sit on exquisite leaves
A struggle of each species plight
Resplendent as they'll all akin
Coalescing as they interweave
The Amazon and all its might

I am the tundra barren cold and numb
A frozen wasteland where no light can reach
Between these poles, my insatiate self-succumbs.
In icy silence where no whimpers humb
My thoughts like glaciers grind, erode, and breach
I am the tundra, barren, cold, and numb.
The Amazon within once vital thrumb
Of life and hope now withers out of reach
Between these poles my insatiate self-succumbs.
Anxiety a howling blizzard's sumb
Entombs me deep a creature bleached of speech.
I am the tundra, barren, cold, and numb.
Depression creeps permafrost of my slumb
While echoes of lost joy my soul beseech
Between these poles, my insatiate self-succumbs.
Yet in this waste, where all seems overcome
A seed of strength cracks ice defies the leech
I am the tundra, barren, cold, and numb.
Between these poles, my insatiate self-succumbs.
(sung to the tune of Oh, Tannenbaum)
Oh, Amazon, oh Amazon
You give my life such meaning
For letting me buy all my gifts
While safely quarantining.
At birthday time or Chanukah
(Which makes it more ironica)
Oh, Amazon, oh Amazon
My purchasing’s a pleasure.
When what I need is in a store
Which I refuse to enter,
One click and you can show me more
Up close and front and center.
The things I buy get sent on time;
No shipping costs when I use Prime
Oh, Amazon, oh Amazon
You really are a treasure.
Poetic Amazon
I can see sparks in your eyes
mind stirred by an inner fire,
That touches and electrifies
fingers with Poetic desire;
Crack of spark jumping gap
from your tips to Poetic writ,
And, explode like thunder clap
with satire and sizzling wit.

getting old
sitting on my rocker
waiting for mail
a package
from Amazon
with my first fast elder walker with seat
they say that this fast elder walker with seat
could last
up to ten years to the day
I do pray
that this walker
is not my last
and that it and I
don’t go too fast
Dihing, adjoining borderline with Arunachal, on the foothills of mighty Patkai,
In the encircling mesas of terrestrial plains of high altitudes,
lies the Assam Valley's tropical wet evergreen forests,
Named after its thick density of trees and profuse diverse ecology,
the Amazon of the East, the Dehing- Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary.
An abode to the myriad of endangered species, copious floras and faunas, a hotspot, the zone of world's richest biodiversity.
As amazing as Amazon's tropical forests, dark and dense:
The country's lungs like last lowland the evergreen rainforest.
Where the tallest of the tall trees with creepers are competing
for the sunlight forming greenish lavish canopies.
There, the animal kingdom awakens, whoops;
When the light falls, fathoming the density, filters in
The floras with the exotic species: orchids, lianas, epiphytes, are sparse and unique,
The faunas endless, the sole quirky reserve in the country with its' lush evergreen ecological system.
Nestled amidst the most picturesque valleys and hills,
Is reclining the lungs of the congenial climate for survival, of the region
A celestial abode on earth of the rarest IUCN red listed, on the verge of extinct species,
TheDehing Patkai, the richest part of the Sub-Himalayan region, a major carbon sink ecosystem.
.
The Amazon of the East, with its sacred biodiversity hotspot,
is apprehensive of it's extinction
As the relentless injudicious mining and digging,
Has taken away the pulses of the oxygen feeding lush terrain,
Imagine a world devoid of rainforests, where we need to carry oxygen tanks, the most unfortunate substitution!
It's sending signals after signals not to play with its' immensely diverse tropical bio- canopy region;
To save the last remaining unparalleled foliage, affluent lowland from excision!
As no amount of wealth will be enough to save us from the impending outcomes of destruction,
Pivotal to rescue and redeem the Amazon of the East;
the tropical evergreen Dehing -Patkai reserve, the richest rainforest of the region!
Above the palms I scan the ebon night
With crystal stars reflecting in the dark
The yellow moon is shining on the boat
A crocodile swims by without a sound
A cacophony of sound is stirred in the morn
A shaman greets us with a blessed hand
Three frontiers await us as we drift
In ageless waters of the deep
Pink dolphins leap as we move on
I see a capybara by the shore
The largest rodent in the world
The capuchins all beg for food
Piranhas swivel back and forth
Below the mammoth lily pads
Awaiting all the food that moves
Then pounced upon without delay
The thunderous rain has wet the forest land
Colombia, Brazil and now Peru
With stilted huts and cherub children there
Primordial, the Amazon and I
I'm filled with awe, a conqueror of life
primeval scenes in tense display
These memories will stay until I die

"BIRDS OF THE AMAZON –
Below the canopy of trees,
who seek the secrets of the sky
A paradise of colour ,
a world blessed with those who fly.
Macaws of blue and red,
where parrots of blue, are fed
A haven safe for all
A place of home to call
The earth bellows tremble,
The hoot of owl a-miss of tempo.
Eagles take flight with parrots in fright .
Monkeys a chatter as nests lay in scatter.
Monsters of metal, unknown of kin,
Arrive the troops, that know no sin .
As blades of steel rotate in action
Ploughs engage to sow destruction,
Now earth at thunder, no storms yet blunder
Man’s greed arrive with joy of plunder
No home the same,
as monsters of metal discard it with shame "

A Prince once met a princess, this was what he thought...
She's not used to someone this young
But at Parlour something Beautiful Sprung
Fate at it's finest.
First person I laid my eyes upon,
turned out to by my highness.
She was lovely down to earth, not to mention the spirit.
I hoped we both could feel it.
So we sat and had a drink.
Hours passed by in minutes, and I just had to think.
She had me at Toika lounge feeling like the luckiest fellow.
If she preferred an orchestra, I'd be her main cello.
Little did she know, this Princess was in the company of a Prince.
Amazonian Tiger scratched me with her caramel prints.
And he was going to show her his all.
Make her truly feel like the angel, wingless born, bet she crawled.
Wish to Be her knight in shining armor and all.
She would have all her angled covers, the second she called.
Never too soon and definitely never too late.
For a princess and prince, to come to terms with their fate.
And in fact, Alana, you bring out my best manners.
And it matters to me.
Cause in your presence I wanna be the best I can be.
Because I know that's what you deserve.
Breathtaking personality, in reality, blessed with dangerous curves.
Always had me listening, as if she had super powers.
If she was a line-up I'd wait for days and hours.
Standing there, dressed up with a smile, holding her favorite flowers.
So don't mind little old me.
Standing her with a lily.
Hope you find it cute, cause sharing this it made me laugh and I felt a bit silly.

THE AMAZON MEETS THE GREEKS
When life was thick with possibility,
Before the written word and the weighing scales,
Your definitions held too much probity
In the rich seamless embroidery of our tales.
Our vanished mystery, which your history sealed
Up in the libraries of the planet’s scar.
So what way to better wield a shield?
You men just skirt the theory of war!
Words became deeds – there were forests to lop!
Hard iron entered body and soul
I cherished my child as a cosmic tear-drop
Bound to osmosis in the ocean’s roll,
And took the sword, and chopped my source and dower
Because you underestimated female power.
(c) Rosemarie Rowley
Invisible figures moving in the mists of time,
Hidden female phantoms, masters of the wilderness
Wild, blending in as chameleons, they are the unseen.
Legend's cryptic tribe.
Maidens veiled beneath mysteries coverlet’s of beauty,
Vanishing, as if a vapors mystic dream, created by ancient
Historic mythology.
But nay the Amazons, were fierce fighting warriors,
Battle hardened women, whom lived by the basic instincts.
Of survival and honor.
Unbridled by the whims of society, no chains bondage,
Could restrain their desire to be free from mans law.
Liberation's winds moistened their lips, and inflated
The lungs of these warrior women.
Nomads raised on the theology, that man are inferior creatures,
To be used as beasts of burden, or at leisure’s pleasure,
Nothing more.
Skilled in the art of war, renowned for courage’s
Unyielding voracity, armored maidens of legend,
And for raw endurance’s strength of will.
Blow the golden horn of victory's challenge,
As the ancient archer thus thread's her bow,
In anticipation of the battle to begin.
Drawn swords at the ready, do you not
Hear their ancestral cry to arms, take
No prisoners alive.
Shield maidens whom answer to know man,
But only the Gods themselves,
Behold they are the Amazons.
Shoulder to shoulder, and back to back,
Shields raised glistening in the sun.
The battle lines are drawn in history,
A fierce fighting force by all accounts
Renowned, to legacy's ancient passage,
For all women to be proud of generations
Forward to come, remember their battle hymn.
Freedom sisters, can you not taste it's
Flavor of liberation, carried on destiny's
Four winds, I'll raise my cup in tributes
Honor unto them, known as the Amazons.

Wildlife All Around
Life thriving from the cool rains
Where all peace recides
Sweet Amazon, my River Styx.
Only this time you carried me out of Hell
Into a life that’s real and true.
Shall I now approach the throne of grace
With only shame in my heart and empty hands,
Having sacrificed all that’s good and true
On the altar of other people’s ideas and opinions?
The quiet voice of spirit sings its song of love and strength
From out the Amazonian depths.
It silences the drone of lack and complacency,
The death knell of the common man.
I now drink deeply of the current of my life, my enthusiasms.
I drink deeply from my true love’s flow and majesty.
Flow gently, Sweet Amazon.
Your song is mine to sing.

TEA BREAK POEMS
Last year I wrote a book of poems you see,
so I could believe that it was really me.
I thought that I could edit,
mistaken was I to take such credit!
I sent it through by email, was proofread,
but a press of the button and it was gone,
now nothing could I mend.
Commas, full stops, capitals, and such,
oh how stupid, this is far too much.
Reply from Amazon was as expected,
two out of four stars for what I had neglected.
Well serves me right I said out loud,
I searched my heart, I was not proud.
I decided then and there I would try again.
This year began with with a determined yen,
but this time I would do things right,
I found someone who could edit, sheer hindsight.
In August, caught Covid, health seemed dim,
hospitalised 6 days, I prayed a lot to Him.
I came home, but still not well.
My family and friends so worried, I was not swell.
25th September, Amazon wrote to inform me,
My book had been published on Amazon Kindle.
‘Tea Break Poems’ rated four out of four,
and a glowing review, I needed no more.
