Tea Break Poems

TEA BREAK POEMS

Last year I wrote a book of poems you see,
so I could believe that it was really me.
I thought that I could edit,
mistaken was I to take such credit!

I sent it through by email, was proofread,
but a press of the button and it was gone,
now nothing could I mend.
Commas, full stops, capitals, and such,
oh how stupid, this is far too much.

Reply from Amazon was as expected,
two out of four stars for what I had neglected.
Well serves me right I said out loud,
I searched my heart, I was not proud.

I decided then and there I would try again.
This year began with with a determined yen,
but this time I would do things right,
I found someone who could edit, sheer hindsight.

In August, caught Covid, health seemed dim,
hospitalised 6 days, I prayed a lot to Him.
I came home, but still not well.
My family and friends so worried, I was not swell.

25th September, Amazon wrote to inform me,
My book had been published on Amazon Kindle.
‘Tea Break Poems’ rated four out of four,
and a glowing review, I needed no more.

Wonderful news after the initial setback and such serious health issues. I hope you are completely healed by now. It's horrible that one virus can impact so many systems in our bodies after we supposedly clear it. Many congratulations on being published and the positive reviews.

Many congratulation on fighting your way through the intricacies of Amazon publishing, Jennifer. Been there, done that… drove me batty… did it again… did my head in… did it again… now I’m beyond all hope. You have my greatest respect. Hope your lingering ailment is soon history. Terry

Hi Paul thank you for your comment my friend, very kind and sweet. I am feeling a lot better, my physician said that if a cause for my sudden illness can't be identified, and believe you me, I had almost every organ scanned, they then blame everything on a covid virus. Hugs, blessing and warm regards dear Paul. Jennifer.

Jennifer, congratulations!!! A lot of us have had covid unfortunately, but thank goodness you survived it. Publishing is not easy. It's the strangest thing how many times we can look at something and yet there are still errors that need correcting. It is a labor of love. I also apologize for disappearing from here for a year or so. I have been writing and editing training manuals...and the process me and a few other people developed relies on database publishing. It took all my creative energy.

Dear Jennifer, I have been enjoying your Tea Break poems on Kindle since January of this year... your breadth and depth of poetry writing have always made me smile, and to think that I know you and call you my friend humbles me. My favorites in the book are God's Waiting Room, Nightmarish Shower, Hamlet, Eye Spy, and 12 Brothers Bearing Gifts (though honestly, I love and enjoy all of them). You have such a wonderful imagination and sense of fun, your faith-based poems are always rich in wisdom, plus your ecologically and socially conscious poems are eye-openers for how society could be improved. Love your work, and I'm proud to know you. Congrats for publishing! So sorry about your recent travails, but glad you have made it through the darkest hour. Hugs and blessings ~ John

John my friend this was an awesome wonderful comment that you wrote I in turn feel humbled to have received this breathtaking comment from you. You write superbly, always win contests which I don't often enter, and very often appear in the best poems top 100 towards the top 10. My health I would say is by 95% better, but i have been left with a nagging cold, which come and goes. Thank-you for your support with Tea Break Poems I feel proud that you are reading my book. HUGS AND BLESSINGS, JENNIFER.

Sorry for all your past woe. So this same book now has four stars?? That is so awesome then. Did you not proofread it after all? Don't you just want to kick yourself when things go wrong? For example, I entered the wrong poem in Constance's last contest even though the correct poem is on the list. I am still kicking myself
