Best Alternate Universe Poems
Donald Duck Chancellor of this fowl kingdom
wearing an upside down smile's raging hypocrite backwards
this deranged Duck twitters to and fro as his unhinged subjects
unwittingly applaud him onto a victory march that never appears equal
except in his alternate universe of oneness
Calamity Jane perchance is on the horizon
while war looms close by this feather prides himself
on his big show asking for a mirror to check his orange glow
he jokes and preens fading in and out so it would seem logical
tearing down all good morals he alienates with his constant magic escapades
Sleight of hand reflections move
with this fake news it gets exposed
the big top rotates under an eclipsed lie
fire breathing condemning all those against his way
entering the arena for the next late show
Now Big Bird has been caught fibbing
just when they thought everyone was safe
getting off the band wagon or so to speak
Just signing the pact with her feathered friend
letting on they are getting on so well for the world to see buddies
Almost joined at the hip like in their loyalty reigning over truth
in this ungodly circus of the vainest sort
Where the funfair clowns abound
under fabrications an orangutan watches on
beating his chest in an ape like manner and solid hands
he has no way to express words
puffing and panting swaggers
living under thee umbrella protected from the truth’s influence
Alvin and his chipmunks sing the national anthem
while the confederate flag waves goodbye over democracy
begins the three little pigs stages as they enter the building
their houses from clay flamed with truth
ransomed for vanities sake no good ending can come
Earthquakes separate the earth
floods come with grave disaster
hurricanes winds rise from the greatest source
even this cannot deter or distract this awful Duck
one mission under a selfish chant of
quack a doodle quack, quack a doodle quack, quack a doodle quack
which only translates to me
only me, me only me, me only me!

I searched earth and my love was
nowhere to be found.
Now I travel to distant galaxies searching
for my love in space
where it's cold and there's no sound.
Where could she be?
Is she in an alternate universe. One that's
parallel to mine?
Do I have to travel through a wormhole? Is
she in another
place in time? I asked the stars where can
I find her and
none of them could tell me. I asked an
alien sun but he gave
no answer. His bright unusual light only
making it hard for me to
see. I asked every neutron star and every
pulsar. Every nebula
cloud I've come across. I even asked a
supernova where she
could be. But his answers turned out to be
false. None of the
constellation of stars seem to know where
my baby is. Orion
doesn't know. Gemini doesn't know.
Neither Andromeda or
Sirius. I'm in interstellar despair, travelling
through the deepness
of space. Going from one universe to the
next and hoping that one
day I'll see my baby's face. I don't know
how many light years I'll
have to travel. Or how many cosmic doors
I'll have to knock on. All
I know is that the desire to search for my
love beyond the stars will
never be far from gone....
Poet don’t feel right
Poet struggles sleeping at night
POETS NEVER SLEEP
At least…that’s what other poets keep telling me
But this lackluster slumbering just might be
From the unwavering weight of all responsibility
Poet only seems awake while walking through daydreams
Only wants to live life lavished in imagination
Painting alternate universes in which the stars guide me
An alternate universe in which i am happy
The moon and its tides constantly aligned
An alternate universe in which my artistry arrives unagonized
An alternate universe already constructed by someone else
An alternate universe in which contains an atmosphere in which I can breathe in which should be the one I’m in now
But my nervous system glitches,
Spine tinges spitting gibberish
Jittering shaky legs racing while staying stationary
Amazed at the way
A stage shakes me
In vibrations
At least its safe to say I said something today
Shared a story shoved, cornered in a junk drawer
At least I keep poetry in motion
only productive when my mind’s flowing
But I know my audience
I know they’re only hearing my poet voice
They only see my tragedies rehashed in romantics
There's only so many ways to manipulate the pain staked
in my chest in my throat in my head
So I choke on my raw truth
so it’s more digestible
for everybody else in the room
If not on the page,
Where is a tortured artists’ pain safe?
Paper scrapes
Psalms
Poems
Cutting deep enough
For me to bleed enough
For you to envision the misery
I’m in
Some alternate universe in which I am not a poet
Instead,
I am illiterate at the expense of my own pen and tongue
Instead, I await the unarriving;
Bleeding out without any sign of rescue
Instead, I plagiarize my inhabitance to a world
constructed by everyone except myself
Instead,
I am here
Earth rotates
Everything else still
I am still
Here.
I closed my eyes to break all the laws,
All the laws of physics and natural philosophy.
I wanted to travel faster than light,
Go back hundreds of years, and do it with no technology.
I closed my eyes and talked gravity with Newton,
Talked about spectrums, inertia, and calculus.
We ate an apple at Trinity, dressed in grand blue and red robes
That were beautiful, noble and fabulous.
But then I thought about how neat this power was,
To travel, meeting whomever in any old year.
So I went back further, eyes closed tight, to 1601,
And talked about Hamlet with William Shakespeare.
I asked “Why does he drag his feet so long,
So long to avenge his father’s killer?”
He picked up a beer and idly said “He had bipolared ego,
Besides, I needed to write a thriller.”
Then I thought of other rules I could break,
So I travelled to the middle of the deepest black hole.
It was amazingly theatrical, the swirling bright everything,
It most certainly had its own soul.
Then I was in an alternate universe,
With an earth, a moon and a sun.
And on this planet sweet love, it was everywhere,
Enough love for you, and me, and everyone.
If breaking laws of physics leads to love, joy and happiness,
And millions of crazy butterflies.
Then I think I might enjoy travelling more often,
Just doing it by closing my eyes.
I've always been attracted to the other world.
You know, the world in between life and death.
The one you always see out of the corner of your eye.
Was always that little girl who wanted to be someplace.
Someplace more exciting than the place I was standing.
I always knew there was something more exciting waiting.
More exciting than where I was standing, new adventures.
Where the stardust falls at midnight, with sunrise delight.
World of whispers and flickering shadows in the moonlight.
Where the fairies and frogs and fireflies dance all night.
I call it my consensual reality in my alternate universe.
Come, take my hand, the land of enchantment is waiting.
It was always ok that I was the only one that believed.
Believed in the unseen world of the magical light beings.
I see the gargoyles conversing with the pigeons high up.
Sometimes they wink at me as they turn back to stone.
They pretend that way, so no one will catch on to them.
Trouble with magick is most people don't believe in it.
Though I'm sure they could if they kept hold of dreams.
And childlike natures and the innocents of childhood.
They don't believe in what's buried deep down inside.
If you tried, I know you could see just what I see.
Fairies with rainbow colored wings fly against the sun.
Or dancing along the milky way in the pale moonlight.
And the shoemaker's magick shop is where they live.
They are always delighted when you come for a visit.

Alternate Reality (MJH 17 April ’18)
Maybe in an alternate universe,
Where good is bad and better’s worse,
I could be you, you could be me,
Together apart, sadly happy.
You’d pursue me, I’d flee from you.
Yes you’d pursue me and I’d flee from you,
‘cause I know that I’d be caught by you.
Perhaps in a wondrous macrocosm,
We’d share everything in common.
You’d finish things I’d start to say,
But we’d laugh about it anyway.
Time would not be our enemy.
No, time would never be our enemy-
I’d be part of you; you’d be part of me.
By chance there is another dimension
Beyond earthly comprehension
Where past, present and future blend;
Time has no beginning nor end.
I’d say “I love you” with laughter.
Yes I would say “I love you” with laughter—
Said so before, will say so after.
In some hypothetical reality,
Beyond conceptuality,
Where nothing is circumstantial--
Matter’s almost insubstantial.
Separate bodies, united minds-
Yes, separate bodies and united minds-
Our souls forever intertwined

This what would happen in an alternate Universe
Many things would be different and oceans dispersed.
There's no such thing as hunger, water or air.
Because everyone's a vapor without any care.

Seemingly making you whole.

I remove my glasses to blur my view,
of my disgraceful face, that’s painted a strange hue.
Reality peers back at me, from the bottomless
shallow mirror,
My self peers back at me,
with disbelief, regret and horror.
I remove my glasses so that I cannot see,
that which I’m not and that which I’ve wanted to be.
I close my eyes, so I’m now in a trance,
of an alternate universe, a new theme,
a new life, a new romance.
I remove my glasses and put them aside,
and think back to better times, waiting
for my pain to subside.
But as I shuffle through my memories, relief -
I cannot seem to get,
because the past is filled with insurmountable regret.
I remove my glasses and put them in their case
and reminiscence about my beliefs, the dreams I used to chase.
But all this sorting reveals only mistakes,
mistakes, mistakes, mistakes
Oh, so many mistakes…
I remove my glasses because it’s time to sleep,
I wrench today’s goals from the thought bubble,
and discard them into the unachieved heap.
As I sink to the bottom of the bed at the end of the day I've fought,
I plummet into the depths of my innermost thought,
that preaches ‘useless’, ‘ worthless’, ‘hate’
that preaches ‘loser', ‘ugly’, ‘ late’
that dictates my action and my inaction,
that dictates my speech and my silence.
And as I lose myself to the seduction of rest,
I try to revive in me, an anticipation for the morrow -
a dying and hopeless, bedridden zest.
The sun will bring with it, a new day,
the day will begin coffee, sticky notes,
in the same old unaccomplishing way.
I will remove my glasses to blur my view,
I will remove my glasses to disillusion myself,
I will remove my glasses to remove myself
to a new fantasy, a new retreat, a new game.
I will remove my glasses to feed my escapism,
and let the footsteps of my desires lead me into a new daydream,
of wonder, success and fame.
But still,
I can hope.
And still,
I will hope,
that the morrow is not barren of new opportunities.
But still,
I can pray.
And still,
I will pray,
that the morning air instils a new confidence,
in me, as, from my lucid dreams, I wake,
in me, who limps behind the forerunners of the race.
For there is life to be loved, and life to be lived,
and mine is a future in the making,
a future to face.

Glimpses of myself in a different time..
Recurring thoughts occupying my mind..
Visions of lush greenery landscapes
I gaze upon the deep blue sky
I caught a glimpse of myself..
My alternate self..
Unique surroundings
Fascinating experiences..
Colors illuminating so perfectly vivid
Bright and bold
Intense and magnificent
For my eyes have never seen such vibrant colors..
Words cannot express the sweet vibrant colors..
Vibes and energies are intense..
Vibrating with the sights and sounds..
A beautiful high vibration of energy ..
My senses have intensified to the fullest
Through the marvelous glimpses of myself..
In existence..
Living a life
Fulfillment multiplied to the maximum..
A mirror..
An image of myself..
For I have been deceived by my own mirror..
Showing quite a distorted image of myself
Distortions certainly have a field day with myself..
Tricksters in disguise..
Brewing foolishness..
A foolish self ..
Living in a narrow gateway..
Cannot see the size of the gateway..
Can only see the narrow corridor of what lies ahead in the gateway..
Unexplainable awarensess shapes form..
A deep awakening..
Glimpses through many different windows and doors..
Altered states of windows and doors..
The doors and windows of my perception have completely opened..
Whisked away I am..
Reflections of myself in a different alternate reality..
Parallel entanglements
An interdimentional infusion of pure bliss..
Expansion of gateways..
The corridor is wide and abstract..
It lies everywhere simultaneously..
I am myself on earth..
As I am myself in an alternate universe..
Experiencing many facets of life..
My opened doors of perception entering through a window..
Love aviated in him, so subtly,
but felt nothing less than a knife,
that had encroached upon him so balefully,
but he hadn’t felt so peaceful in life.
Every time he closed his illuminated eyes,
he disembarked in the alternate universe,
where the fire of hell had been extinguished long back,
where heaven was hallucinating on earth.
He felt her aroma everywhere he roamed,
it was a timid quaint feeling of hope,
a feeling that had resurfaced in him since he had found,
in this love, peace and sound.
He visualized her in not-so quintessential ways,
she had a soul brighter than sun and its rays.
she breathes flowers, very sublime,
had the aura of a million saints, all very fine.
She spoke, broadminded about how she conquered,
the kingdom of his heart, in the empire of his soul,
she spoke of how she set flight like a bird,
brushed away his darkness, filled all his holes.
Now she wants a body, not the depths of his heart,
so one day she and him will have to part,
till then he will continue to embrace her this way,
fill in his desire for love, for peace and gay.
My father in law was a funny guy
not given to doing much work
With a house full of sons and
daughters as well he found it easy to shirk
His sons ran the saws in the forest
the mule used to skid out the logs
His contribution to sharpen the chains
And decide when to call in the dogs
At home women carried water to wash dishes
humans and laundry
The thought of picking a bucket up
Threw the men folk into a quandary
Women and kids worked the garden
milked cows and carried wood
In every climate with no reprieve
It was just understood
I felt I had stepped back in time
Or to an alternate universe
Tried to foment rebellion as the women
Would grumble and curse
never could get them to commit to
on a strike just sitting down
We've got to plant this tobacco was told before
James gets back from town ...(With more)
The old man was really quite clever
In his backwoods hillbilly way
He hitched the mule to bed springs
that the kids rode without delay
The soil boiling up and over and out
till broke down as fine as could be
Other than bossing this last lick of toil
the very last we would see
The ironic part he received an award
for gardener of the year
An award he often spoke of and
One he clearly held dear
He was the director on this set
located in East Tennessee
A way of life so deeply entrenched
not unearthed by the likes of me
