To appreciate our planet,
begin with its snowcapped mountains;
where sunbeams morph crystals of ice
into gems of glistening light.

See pink clouds hover in the skies
afloat on a vista of blue;
and a setting sun smear scarlet
onto puffs of marshmallow white.

And jungles at its equator
create a sash of vibrant greens;
while burnt sands ripple Earth's deserts,
with shifting dunes of tans and creams.

See Earth's leafy forests change from
deciduous to evergreen;
and tundra pitted with blue lakes,
fade to stretches of virgin snow.

And volcanoes erupt in flame
spewing plumes of ebony smoke;
lava bleeding from gaping wounds,
while giving birth to molten earth.

See azure and aquamarine
waves crested with white foamy froth;
and two tilted poles, capped in ice,
sparkle like crystalline jewels.

View it from afar, as it twirls
within the vacuum of space;
like a phantasmagorical
cerulean marble; called Earth.

Hey Tom, your heart you wear on your sleeve,
Concisely achieve what a poet does perceive,
Surpassing discerning reporters near and afar,
Keep writing about Putin and his stories bizarre,
You remind me of Churchill, just add a cigar.

Love From Afar

Strange creature and my best friend.
The distance between us is great.
So why do we pretend.

You cross the street as I head to the bar
I'll drink to you my dear.
For if I cant hold you close.
I'll just love you from afar.

Like crumbs tossed to a pigeon from a delicate
hand.
I'll wait like a fool.
For my heart is forever yours to command.

You say I cause pain when you remember the past.
Bitter tears erase the passion.
That sometimes isnt ment to last.

Sometimes it's easier to forget then remember
who we are.
if it bothers you to keep me close.
Then I'll love you from afar.

Standing underneath your window in the pouring
rain.
Times alone often i do reflect.
Love has a way of making the normal seem insane.

So very close never knowing who we truley are.
Taken from my heart.
left only to love from afar.

Let Me Love You From Afar

I don’t get to see your smile
When you walk in through the door
Now a million heartaches later
I’m still expecting more

I know time will never change me
Cause it hasn’t changed me yet
So why’s my mind want to make sure
I keep living with regret

Let me love you from afar
Since I can’t get close to you
You’re out of sight but in my heart
Let me love you from afar

If you wonder where I’ve been
I’m trying to make sense of this
For every dream I’ve had of us
There’s been at least another wish

Now my every waking hour
Reminds me what it’s like to lose
There’s a scar inside my heart
Let me love you from afar

Let me love you from afar
Since I can’t get close to you
You’re out of sight but in my heart
Let me love you from afar

What’s a soul without its mate
What’s forever without fate
Why’m I left here to wait, hell sits just outside the gate
Every second your away

Let me love you from afar
Let me love you from afar
You’re my sunshine and the stars
Let me love you, let me love you
Let.. me..love you, from..... afar

Premium Member A Voice From Afar

Snow covered empty streets
Surrounded by cold winter air
A voice from afar brings kind words
Melting hurt, like ice disappearing
You never know when someone, anyone,
May reach out in these ways
You never know when your own words
May reach another these days
In lonely times, lifting smiles on faces
A voice from afar can be just as powerful
As a voice from some place nearby
Giving hope and inspiration…
To be, to love, to try!

Love From Afar

LOVE FROM A FAR

She lays in wonder, she lays in wait. Her mind now ponders over each little thing. She doubts herself, both old things and new. She's never known love, for her love’s only been used, to put her down, to break her sweet heart. She was a beautiful puzzle this world's torn apart. She now see’s not her worth, her beauty, her soul. Shed been always held down, or kept under control. Not by mans hands, and not under might, but from what she believed, that he had inside. The biggest thing her eyes could not see, was the one who seen her, and loved each broken piece. He loved her through winter, spring, summer and fall. He counted each tear, and felt every one crawl… down her beautiful face, as each one would fall. Though he knows his love is true, it’s the love of this man that she never knew, began or existed for the words stayed upon lips, rolled not off his tongue as he kept them within. He’ll always love her, eternal as the stars… though his love will remain always from afar.

Admiration From Afar

i am that guy in the corner watching
as many try but fail....i admire you from afar
i am not interested in getting with you
i am just interested in watching you just be
the way you move....the way you present your caricature
it is like i poem that i just cannot write....but the words dwell in my head
yeah, we say hello to each other
yeah, we smile at each other in passing
yeah, we steal stares at each other wondering what the other is thinking
the difference is, i imagine myself doing things that some may deem "nasty"
you, on the other hand, just stop, look, and wonder for however long your attention span allows you
that being known by me, i remain in the corner watching
oh how wonderfully your hips sway....oh, how lovely your legs look when you walk
i am not interested in loving you
i am just interested in appreciating the beautiful, confident black woman that you are
the way you light up a room....the way you voice your opinion and get your point across
you are out of my league by many unreachable miles
knowing this, i know that i will never come close to knowing you
however, as long as my eyes are able to see, you will always have an affectionate admirer in me....

Premium Member Close Friends From Afar - Co-Write With Jack Horne

From across the sea, good wishes I receive:
Cards, greetings, special gifts from a kind man I've never met.
But it's the warmth he offers that makes a difference in my life.
How blessed I am to have such a compassionate friend;
The Soup not only unites nations, but creates welcome friendships.

It's been six months, but it seems like a lifetime,
The bond of friendship so strong,
Cemented by shared interests and laughter,
Brought together by passion for poetry;
My life wouldn't be the same without her.

Introducing the Benaminis: the Gypsies From Afar

The Benaminis are a family of rodents,
who live their lives capitalizing on other
peoples' residences,
They scope the homes when they're not
home,
or invade it when only one member's alone,
They scamper up and down,
acting like confounded clowns,
going through closets and secret hiding places,
at the end of their visits , they carry satchels on their backs
filled with delicacies and knick-knacks,
The familes set traps of honey and cheese,
hoping they all will fall to their knees,
But they just keeping rambling and showing up at
the oddest times,
even when polluted with coffee grinds,
They run a muck, taking what they want,
Their sniveling looks seem to haunt,
making families edgy, and promoting dreams
that taunt,
Oh, they give the children quite a scare,
by climbing everywhere,
They cover their bodies from head to toes,
for fear that the Benaminis grizzly hands may take them
out the windows,
The gypsies who traveled from "Nowhere",
have put enmity and nervousness everywhere,
helping themselves to life's delights,
only stopped with traps and horrible fights.

Love From Afar

A glorious yellow sun

 hot enough to burn, to

 Scotch all life out of

 existence. Yet if this

 tremendous ball of gas

 is of further distance into

 the vast. Our beautiful blue

planet would be like a giant

marble, a ball of frozen glass.

 This magnificent feat of exactness

is not by chance, look up take a

 glance. Its perfection, perfect love

 from above.

Easing Me, From Afar

adrift the rift of dawn and dusk,
i lather in what made me unclean-
i softly whisper to one silent star…
“may you ease me from afar”

a dalliance of hope feeds me-
my intellect tender,
heart coarse;
always hungry for what drains me,
clinging onto what already let me go-
          (so very long ago)

breathless and bare i stare at life,
for it has been kind yet given pain-
ethereal wings soar and demons seek me
in distant nightmares in vain
i awake
          LIFELESS
unaware of who i was and why
i wanted to be someone else

alone and forsaken
with no chances taken

an aria of resounding mercy
cries in the sky,
i am left not ceasing moments,
only left behind to suffer
in a brooding elixir of why
and how-
o, the lengths where I went to try

sacrificing my kind heart
for transgressions,
falling apart and resenting
fear from the start-
life-long expressions of
hope and impressions

so, i softly whisper to one silent star…
“may you ease me from afar”

From Afar

They came from afar
To our foreign shores
Opening unfamiliar doors
Following a new star

Languages and accents
Spoken with strange words
Longing to be heard
To be able to make sense

Yearning to conquer and toil
Adversity that may come
Lady Liberty stands to welcome
Their first steps on our soil

Opportunity has a price
Paid for with blood and tears
Faith, hope, and fears
Freedom does entice

Praying their lives were blessed
With safety and good health
Finding a fortune in peace and wealth
Our future generations will attest

Coming to our promised land
Bringing traditions of origins along
This is where they now belong
One and all…American

Afar Our Existence

Rumbling thoughts crescending,
Beyond knowledge ascending,
Wreathing daze, unfurled,
Meanings twirled…

Outlived incomprehension,
Outlived tension,
Era of delusions,
Era of illusions…

How shall our guile emphasize?
How shall our wisdom philosophize?

A million words alleged,
A million vows pledged,
A million beliefs agreed,
A million creeds…

Yet, life remains an erratic illusion of distance,
For
Knowledge stretches afar our existence…

How They See Us From Afar

How they see us from afar.
I saw a planet it was blue,
It had a white tip. and a bottom one too.
The people here are funny lot,
Some like to kill, and some do.
Others destroy, thinking properties a toy.
They can create, so much good.
But they also build killing type stuff.
Tanks, and Mortars, and torture chambers for you.
But hey all so build hospitals too,
What a strange bunch .we see from afar.
They fight and quarrel, for the common good.
Then take their wondered, to be loved.
Oh what miss understood, bunch these are,
I’m glad were looking from afar.
Life on the planet must be mad,
Not knowing, if your happy or sad.
Look at that place over there!
Stay away, stay clear!
Let god our lord, sort them out.
He’s the only one with such clout,
Maybe he can sort them out.

The Echoes of Afar Distinct Soul

A friend cast to the land of a distinct
Frigid base, she said...
Lonesome embraced the yearn, mum likewise
Forfeit the identity, stumbled to the pivot of stir

A missed scraped of self-consciousness
The alert of all mistaken
Failed which taken about the half year of a time
Still another year kindly to visit

Await is the other chapter of her book which filled by the tears and sweats

Those eyes desiccated
Fagged had spun for the still
Tiring had mourned upon her fool
If only the existence able to teleport or be returned

Indeed I knew
Thou heart rooted within
Seeks the pedestal of berth and backrest for a lean
Fell into a soot of mother-earth and longing for the creatures which stood upon

Once thou reborn
Morphed into the maturer form
And when the time has come
Every single cells of glory threw pride upon sun

For the down valley beneath her soul taught the life lessons
Afar from a distinct revealed the pavement of her inner soul
Nevertheless frigid base undertaken the coral of her blizzard
