Best Act Up Poems
There has to be another way
cause I fear staying will only break me quicker
I'll snap like a twig
therefore I'm consumed by my meds
Doctors think i'm crazy
Just cause i'm sad
A kid is supposed to be happy
Atleast that's what they keep telling me
my parents lose sleep cause I won't just pretend
Their so stuck being normal
that they never realized they made me this way
So they should stop alienating me
Cause genetics is genetics
I heard my mom was strung out on weed
before she even knew I was developing in her belly
Dad was a young Alchoholic
yet he doesn't understand why I get thirsty
Now i'm not tryna be like them so don't get me wrong
It's just that they try to cover it up like they were perfect
Cleaned their act up before I was old enough to understand
So now I take this pill
Doctors claim it will heal me
It'll destroy everything that's consuming me
Will it make my parents accept me?
Will it make them finally take some of the blame?
Will it make them tell me they love me?
I doubt it.
DURING MY WORLDLY TRAVELS, I MET ARTHUR ITIS.
TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH HE WASN'T THE BRIGHTEST.
HIS GOAL IN LIFE IS DISTRIBUTING PAIN.
HE LOVES TO ACT UP DURING WINTER AND RAIN,
I WAS ONCE AT A PARTY, HOSTED BY MR. GRIM REAPER.
I WAS BOUNCING AROUND WHEN I SPOTTED A KEEPER.
FASCINATINGLY ATTRACTIVE, WITH A SCIENTIFIC TYPE NAME.
SHE SIMPLY PREFERRED, BEING CALLED MARY JANE.
HER PURPOSE IN LIFE IS TO DRIVE AWAY PAIN,
FROM THOSE PLAGUED WITH ARTHRITIS EVEN MENTALLY INSANE.
HER WORK IS AMAZING, ESPECIALLY HER JELLS.
QUITE THE RELIEF FOR THOSE LIVING IN HELL.
SHE'S THE LIFE OF THE PARTY, WITH A BAD REPUTATION.
IN THE MEDICAL WORLD, SHE'S KNOW ACROSS NATIONS.
SO HERE WE STAND BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG.
AND ALL WE WANT IS ARTHRITIS BE GONE.
Child if you don't get yo nappy head;
Imma give you something to cry about.
Get yo butt over here.
Say one mo thang.
Ima beat the black off of ya.
Wait til i'm finish.
I bet not hear another word.
It'll hurt me more than It'll hurt you.
You act up here, I'ma act with you.
Im aint chasing after you.
I put you in this world I sho nuff can take you out.
That's a black mama.
Thin are the lines between love and hate,
Between life and death...
But I'll tell of your fate
With my dying breath...
I open my eyes wide
To see through the windows of your soul
All those long nights I've cried
Longing to know all of your traumas untold.
You may bleed for me
As I long for you
Dry those pain filled tears
Replace them with the mornings dew
They may hold a blade to my throat
And a gun to my head
But betray you? I won't
Not even after I'm dead.
Weave all your lies
Brew all your secrets
Hiding from the truth breaks ties
And seduces lowlife miscreants
I walk these dark streets nightly
Dressed as a man
Keeping my act up and my truth locked tightly
As secure as I can
The skies may seem to change
From day to day and stage to stage
But the city below
Ebbs and flows
While I alone remain
To observe the possibilities
Of bringing beauty out from the stains....

It’s good to take precautions
When you’re going on a trip –
Umbrella, bug spray, meds will ease
Your mind when in your grip.
Yet even if you’re more prepared
Than someone would advise,
There always is the chance that you’ll
Encounter a surprise.
For who can really tell you what
The future has in store?
And health or weather may act up
In ways not seen before.
So pack your suitcase to the brim
In full anticipation
That all your efforts cannot
Guarantee a smooth vacation.
I spit game proper, like a pro-batter, I got the right stroke
I work deals, like it's Black-Friday, I'm far from broke
I can't help but make the girl proud and gay
Want some of my time, like takes, you too gotta' pay
She don't act up, but she's so bad, discipline
Put her in time-out, punishment, a great beatin'
When I'm hittin' her good, she calls me daddy
I'm her trophy, showcase me, friends wish they had me
Too easy, always give it up, her man call it robbery
Termite, loves wood, told me have my log handy
Do what I order, like a puppet, no-strings-attached
Not a crook, but like a purse, your chick got snatched
Not intimate, gold-digger, money makes her cum
It's me, her, and a bag of money, three-sum
You got flushed-down-the-drain, but I'm the crap, feces
You're gone, don't make 'em like me, endangered species
Got fire-wood, leave the 'coochie' smoking like a Newport
Done with you, on to the next, long stick, but life's short
Get attached, space myself, I come around less
Bad sex, back-stabbing, bull, I ain't with the B.S
I write like bakers bake
my rhymes make earth shake
Going into contest with me was your biggest mistake
I control the earths plates, tectonics, your rhymes are bollocks
I cause land slides and earthquakes
I don't hate but I do devastate,
Is the rhythm of your rhyme hidden?
I'm going back and forth with my decision
I'd like to think it's something I'm missin'
but I cant see it in what you've written,
You stagnate rhymes
I contemplate the punishment for these crimes,
don't harp that you'll defeat me
I'm a giant you can't even see me
Now back and forth like red and meth I hand you over to little missy,
you pissed us both off so we share a rhyme to make you look silly..........
Your rhymes don't even matter
my pockets is gettin' fatter
Yours getting flatter
When you heard the glass shatter
That means me and my homies gathered
Now you bout to feel the wrath of
Somethin' that you wished you hadn't of
And all I can say is back up because I'm bout to act up
It might not concern you but
I'll thermonuclear burn you, you're a human sacrifice
Cuz I be smashing mics with the Passion of Christ and
Stay fully loaded, equipped with action devices
Me n trim shady here to party like Tom Brady
We stay cooler than an Eskimo baby
V is for Victory, we mastered your trickery
Tryna clock like dickory, get smoked like hickory
So please stop the bickery, you can't get rid of me
Fire colabs from here to infinity
you heard her infinity
even with a radar and map you cant find our reality
we're in another galaxy
you've barely the ability of a fetus
how dare you compete with us
and this U S U K special relationship isn't putting you at a handicap
it's natures act, you can't rhyme or rap
put your dick between your legs and make a tail
walk away with your head down cus your insults fail,
the only insult that landed is that you went up against us
with terrible stale dribble
that you squiggle
all brainless and minimal
like an unevolved mammal
writing without the opposable thumb by miracle
sounding dumb and undesirable,
when I read it I became miserable,
I desire a quick fire high flyer
like me with quick wit that aspires but you were dire
and dim, you aint no Trim,
you're a fool who should return to school.

He was a gambler
who had been knocked down by a sizeable margin,
not that his bank account would show low returns.
He was a wealthy man.
Quiet and calculative at the poker table.
Meek and mild in a crowd.
He was an unpopular man.
Slightly overweight and sporting a lumpy tummy,
he was an unattractive man.
Receding hairline. Middle aged.
A smoker short on breath. High cholesterol. No muscles.
He had a very active asthma that would act up should he try to run.
He was an unhealthy man.
He was a target.
He was before he was not.
She sat down across from him at the table.
She is a gambler of sorts. She is quiet, completely silent,
and gives off a supernatural eerie calm
that strikes like sharp perfume at the nostrils.
She's a woman removed, but still relevant to the action.
She's skinny and pale. Blonde hair. Dark eyes. Soft lips. Pretty smile.
She is an attractive woman.
Toned body. Fast reflexes. Observant eyes. Strong for her size.
Lungs that can hold infinite air.
She is a strong woman.
She is a force to be reckoned with.
She is and she will always be.
It happened out in the snow.
He normally parked in the parking garage.
On that day, however, he parked far off from the casino
for no reason in particular. He walked slowly.
He moved timidly,
as he had his whole life through.
She moved briskly. She moved confidently.
She didn't run. She trailed just behind.
He didn't see her. I guess her pale skin
blended in with the snow, or maybe
he just needed new glasses. He got to his car.
He fumbled with the keys. She came up from behind
and knocked him to his knees.
What happened next was not pretty.
The excess blood from his body
seemed cartoonishly bright
as it flowed out form his neck
and soaked into the snow.
It looked like strawberry syrup;
the kind you put on a snowcone.
He was before he was not.
She is and she always will be.
When you're hurt by someone you love and trust
You become sad a jumbled mass of nerve- crushed
You cover your bleeding self with a crust of smile
Heart aches tears roll and you knock him a country mile
It is easy to hold a grudge and on flame with anger
You are swallowed by bitters and cannot muffle the banger
You are wrapped up in blues and sun is hellish moor
You feel the chill of life and monsters on the spoor
But you see the other end they are bent out of shape
They are in pain and act up in the minute of scrape
Put yourself in his place and think of deadly hours
You can find a ravished land where is no heaven-showers
So forgive him be one with him it'll cure your scar
"I forgive you brother let us enjoy the morning star"

Depression can't be seen, yet he follows me everywhere
You can't see him beating me down and taking away my strength
I feel it everyday, he makes me act up and brings me to tears
He laughs at me for my frustrations and failed suicide attempts
I was numb for so long, but I'm beginning to feel this
I just want to be normal without any mental illness
I'm tired of depression, Anxiety and bipolar, I just need a rest
At 17, I took an overdose of pills to try and stop my beating chest
I was traumatized from my childhood, and wanted to end the pain
I self-harmed daily to try and mend my pain
I got addicted to the feeling, I was labelled a freak, weirdo, and called much worse
Even though I didn't have a leg to stand on, I still tried to move my foot first
I started self-harming at 14, and hid it for 2 years so how could I be an attention seeker?
Does being open and honest about these feelings make me weaker?
People bring my name up thinking I don't hear
The thing is, they bring my name up, I just don't care
I'm tired of battling demons that can't be beat
Why is it if I attack depression it's me who bleeds?
Maybe I should have kept this to myself, maybe it was too deep to share
I survived my suicide attempts, so I guess someone or something needs me here
Depression can't be seen, yet he follows me everywhere
You can't see him beating me down and taking away my strength
I feel it everyday, he makes me act up and brings me to tears
He laughs at me for my frustrations and failed suicide attempts
Do you think you can do anything you want to?
You can my friend
But do you have to?
No
You don't have to do anything
Not if you don't want to
God does not force you
No matter what He tries
God cannot force anything on you
God gives us free will
And He is the One who controls that free will
So the next time you act up
Don't think that it is you who act up
But it is He who makes you act up
It's usually for a reason
Whether He is about to do something for you
Or give you something
Or just plain bored
I don't know
Who knows?
But usually He does it for a reason
I don't understand why everything cannot be calmly water
Why do you have to stir it?
But God likes to do that
He does not want us to become stagnant water
Where everything settles
He wants it stir up as He is about to drink it
Lol what?
Whatever - you get what I am saying
Just like lemonade
Do you stir it before you drink it?
My point
I am not making lemonade
You got it, God?
There I go again lol
Anyway I found that God always gives
at the end of my storm
Or my escapade
But that I'd never learn
Because I am peace loving, God
I want to be quiet, left alone, and in peace
No chance of that
Why can't things stay the way they are?
Why do I have to change?
When can I be constant?
No chance of that neither
So there God You got the good head
Go ahead and do whatever You want
And I just do whatever I want
Until You....
You got it - whatever
I’M A DOG NOW
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS
I’m a dog now I once was a tree
In my other life I had no one but me
But this time around I’m petted and groomed
Better than pelted by a tropical monsoon
I’m in a farm house where life is so sweet
My owners take great care about what I eat
They buy the best and most expensive food
That really puts me in a jolly good mood
At the beginning when I was a pup
They put me on a leash afraid I’d act up
Many a time we ventured out together
Except for the days of inclement weather
( never had that luxury as a tree)
As time went by and I became full grown
The attention I got as a pup was silent as stone
I wasn’t a novelty anymore I was part of the farm
Guarding the house and to sound the alarm
If strangers approached or smoke was detected
I did my job kept them all fully protected
The boys have left this life so serene
One is in college, the other a marine
The girl is a singer newly engaged
She’s moving away to a different stage
The old man died a few years ago
Mama is still here but I really don’t know
Sometimes she is visited by the old crew
But they’ve dwindled down to just a few
They don’t expect to much from me any more
I go from room to room and lie on the floor
I’ve been here so long I’ve seen all them grow
I know that quite soon it will be my time to go
I never get the option as to what I will be
But I sure as hell hope it wont be a tree
i used to bee the T'keyah Thatt -
Laughed at others whn they were hurt,
cared only about myself,
played entirely too muchh,
thought i wus [above] othrs whn it came to my education,
tried to be bestfriends with the teacher,
only went places with Alexis Rutherford
always put it in my head that i would NEVER disappoint my mother,
& stayed mad at my father because he wus never in my lifee . .
, but thn -
middle school camee alonee,
boys caught my eyes,
teachers weren't like they were at Vineville Academy,
my mind became maturer thn my agee,
i wus introduced to more thangs for older kids,
i convinced myself to question my father about thangs i wantd to know
& i looked at life wayyyy differennt .
Thiss Causedd -
me to separate myself from others,
my mind to wonder on . .
me to act up jus for attention,
mee to do the thangs my mind wondered about,
me to understand why my daddy wus never here [im still trying to understand]
& mee to do simple thangs to fit in , but only to find out that once its gone, you never get it back:/
But Noww -
I'm that T'Keyah who -
is always smilingg
always helping others
forever giving advice even whn i cnt take my own,
always waiting for others to realize that once I'm gone, you'll regret the way you treated me,
always crushing on someone,
always laughingg cause its just that fun,
always makingg ppl smile even whn i'm down in the dumps myself,
always crying behind closed doors//
always blaming herself
always lying to herself to make her believe certain thangs.
is missing her uncle jay
thinks nobody loves her,
always questioning "Why" on her life from back in the past,
BUT NEVER regretting any of it, because at one point in time. . that's exactly what she wanted:))
Charley was being obnoxious so I took away his hedgehog,
it’s such a small toy anyways for a big Doberman dog.
A spoiled rotten boy who whined for an hour or so
hoping to get his way and that hedgehog I’d throw.
I wondered inside just how long could Charley go?
Little terror who’s not so little since he was a pup,
still my favorite handsome boy who’d always act up.
Three years old and still behaving like a punk child,
an innocent boy in the morning, at night a devil wild.
No matter how out of control he acted, I still smiled.
Charley was looking out the front room sill one day,
saw a Maltese walking but to him looked like a prey.
So he trampled through the window and ran ahead
right up to the little girl to smell her behind and head.
Funny how a rough and tough boy can be gentle instead.
See there’s nothing as sweet as a Doberman Pinscher,
even though he may not have the longest softest fur.
But Charley has a heart of gold even when acting mighty,
and gives slobbery kisses when he says nightie-nightie.
Eventually I gave him his hedgehog…he still acted flighty.
So give your doggie a kiss today and love it in every way-
you never know when your fur-angel will bark and fly away.

Sprucy Lucy watering blooms
As pooch lounges, the kitten grooms
Each sprout peaks out toward the sun
Rising in vibrant hues who’ll stun
Lucy speaks sweetly to the pup
As she watches kitty act up
Picking bright flowers, just for fun
Rising in vibrant hues who’ll stun
Sprucy Lucy loves Summer’s buds
Watering each shoot til’ it floods
Her friends know she can’t be outdone
Rising in vibrant hues who’ll stun
