Premium Member Always 17 To Me

You will always be 17 to me
Your smile was the most beautiful thing I believe I'd ever seen
We thought we'd have forever
But that just wasn't meant to be
That was years ago
So many years ago
But in my mind, you'll always be 17
.
We'd talk all night on the telephone
And you found a side of me that I'd never shown
And any time we found the time to be alone
We'd play that song
And you'll always be 17 to me
And I heard the other day your mom didn't have long
And ya know that's just a shame
I remember that dress she made you for the senior prom
And remember laughing in the rain
You were beautiful
And you'll always be 17 to me
We thought we'd have forever
But that just wasn't meant to be
That was years ago
So many years ago
But in my mind, you'll always be 17
And I hope you're doing fine
And I hope that you are happy
And every now and then I think of you
Do you think about me
And in my mind
You'll always be 17
We thought we'd have forever
But that just wasn't meant to be
That was years ago
So many years ago
But in my mind, you'll always be 17 to me
.
I got a grandson now
And he looks just like my boy
He's got a crush on his first grade teacher
Lord he brings me so much joy
But some day he'll meet a girl and when he meets her
I hope he always remembers 17
I want to thank you for the memories
And when you waltz across my mind I always smile
Because in my mind
You'll always be 17
.
We thought we'd have forever
But that just wasn't meant to be
That was years ago
So many years ago
But in my mind, you'll always be 17 to me

Premium Member The Lord of Wonders - Matthew 17: 24-27

Jesus Christ the incarnate son of God
one with the father in heaven above
while on earth displayed all godliness
showing to all mercy and love

This Christ displayed His power
performing wonders for all to see
but humbly meek in all He did
casting out demons setting captives free

On one occasion told His disciple
when needing to pay the tax
go to the sea and cast a hook
bring out first fish you catch

When you open its mouth
you'll find there a shekel
take it and bring it back
pay the taxman so all will be well

Such is the majesty of Jesus
to make people stand in awe
for He's able to do all things
came also to fulfil His law

AUTHOR NOTES: ' When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the tax?” He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from others?” And when he said, “From others,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. However, not to give offence to them, go to the sea and cast a hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.” Matthew ch 17 vs 24-27

AUTUMN Haiku

Autumn kills all things
brings a world that's black and bare
spring was yesterday.

Leaves are fluttering
dancing through the whipping air
like a symphony.

Grass has died again
summer's heat has dried it out
green has turned to gray.

Raindrops splashing cold
rivers flowing full of mud
clouds are weighted full.

Winter's coming on
there's a dead tree on the lawn
fireplace has a glow.

1-17-10 To Wait, To Miss, Not To Kiss.

To wait another night, at least this time i know your alive...
Darling, why do you insist on hurting yourself?
You say it hurts like hell to know your never gonna be enough for me...
If you would only stop this nonsence, you would be.

To miss another night of you, i dont even know where you are...
you say you love me, but i fear it isnt true.
you say it hurts like hell, not being able to see me anytime soon...
why cant you realize, baby it hurts me too.

To not be able to kiss your lips, this is so tough, yet are we still willing to risk it?
you say you asked your dad if i can come over....
thats so cute, but baby, your so drunk....
i know this is hurting both of us, but how could i stop?

Im falling in love so hard, im saving the life of another...
This is so hard, we're risking it all,
do we believe in our love enough?
do we have enough hope to work?
because i know i cant stop, i cant stop loving you, and i cant stop this hurt.

Premium Member Man's Heart: Full of Hatred -Jeremiah 17:9,10

There are so many people around this world
rage and malice fills many a heart
which results in fights and battles galore
but the question is where did it all start?

Ever since the world began so long ago
mankind fell into sin causing all to sin
in the garden, iniquity arrived when Adam fell
all mankind then born in sin no one can win

As life goes on in school and adulthood
sin shows it's ugly head with many a fight
both internal and external Satan attacks
using his attacks to draw us in his night

Scripture says that hearts desperately wicked
who indeed can know it's deceitfulness
no words can adequately describe it
for hate is indeed utter sinfulness

But God has provided a remedy
in Jesus Christ God's begotten son
on the cross, He was the perfect sacrifice
taking on man's sin redemption was done

('The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.)
Jeremiah 17: 9,10 (KJV)

1-17-10 Nicks Poem

i slipped, rocking, and crying, and shaking...
but, you stayed by my side, till i could no longer cry...
the blade was in my hand, and there were already four crimpson letters bleeding...
but, you coaxed it out of my hand, so gently, till i fell to your chest unable to breath...
you brushed my hair with your hand, kissed my tears so delicatly...
again, you saved me, just like you always do...
you whispered i love you in my ear, and i started to cry again...
and, you held me like you thought you would break me...
listening to you breath, and the steady beat in your chest, made me breath again...
and, looking into your eyes, and seeing the love and worry, made me see...
feeling your skin against mine, i wispered, your all that i need...
you are my angel, my love, my only lover...
when im alone or scared, you protect me and show me that your still here...
if i slip again, i know ill fall into your arms...
when i cry, your lips will kiss away the pain in my heart...
i sit and trace the ink on your inner arm...
i sit and trace my name over your heart...
your name is etched into my soul, i just want you to know...
even if i can never show it, the way i should, i love you...
i see your halo, when no one else does...
i fell, into your heart, rocking in your arms...
i finnally know peace and love, oh, heaven resides in your arms...
in your arms...

idyllic fake smile, an empath death holds
a supine body twisted in the folds

Premium Member Seventeen Almost Ready To Fly Off

One more year before the wild bird flies her coop.
Not bad. Bravo. Wise one.
You are more than enough.
Your optimism shines throughout your poems.
You know yourself.
Any idea how rare that is?

There are seventy-year olds who have no idea of themselves
They live a life set down by others
Follow a path
not their own
They do not realize there was a choice
No one said it
Whether miserable or barely happy, they do not complain
Knowing no better.

One more year before you leave the family nest, my friend
Your words will carry you to great heights,
You will write poetry to help save the others
It will come more naturally and completely
as you sleep in a nest of your own making
With pillows you choose and a comforter that
makes you feel safer than you had ever dared dreamed.

A mere 365 days until you can be fully, utterly, diabolically you.
Live spontaneously! Enthusiastically kick around your joy.
Take risks. Love people no one else ever would or could.
Bring home stray puppies. Dance your dance. Sing your song.

You are on your way. Only 365 days. I am so proud of you.
I see the optimism and enthusiasm in your poetry, and I smile
realizing you are heading toward the biggest adventure of your life.

I love this for you. Take risks. Have fun. Fear no one.
Enjoy yourself like you have never enjoyed yourself before.
Happy birthday. It is almost time....

Premium Member The Lord Your God Is In Your Midst - Zephaniah 3: 17

It's a wonderful blessing to be in His midst
such a wonder to feel God's lovely presence
to sense His peace and grace so great
viewing God's majesty through a divine lens

This God is almighty in all His ways
coming to poor sinners able to save
for in the Lord Jesus shows His love
this His only begotten son He gave

Now God brings salvation to His own
full of gladness rejoicing forever more
knowing His plan would fulfill
bringing the keys to salvations door

The Lord God Himself turns the key
by His perfect love comes His quiet
bringing His unique loving touch
spreading forth His own spiritual diet

Such a wonder beyond compare
to know in depth this blessed one
feel His sovereign holy presence
so to conclude, this seems so rare!

("The Lord your God is in your midst,
    a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;")
Zephaniah 17: 3 (ESV)

Premium Member Don'T Rejoice When Your Enemies Falls - Proverbs 24: 17

Jesus made it clear to love one another
but sometimes this can be very hard
only when the holy spirit enables you
to love your enemies like no other

We need also not to rejoice
when we see these enemies fall
be sure never to wish for bad
things too that they won't stall

Remember the words of the Lord Jesus
to love our enemies doing them good
if they have a need you must meet it
no matter how you feel even in a mood

Forgiveness is an act you must do
as Peter asked Jesus how often do I
forgive one that offends me so
seventy times seven was His reply

Remember God's great word of command
love God fully with all of your heart
and your neighbour as yourself
this honours God in no small part

("Do not rejoice when your enemy falls,
and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles,")

Proverbs 24: 17 (esv)
