Premium MemberThe Next Big Thing

Every time I see your face
My heart leaps in my chest
And when perchance you wink at me?
Here's what happens next...

It's something like an atom bomb
A stick of TNT
All at once, explosions
Go off inside of me

No one's ever done this,
Had this effect before
Can you conceive what it'd be like
If we both had the more?

Unpublished without saying
Just you and I would know
That like a fuse that's verrrry longggg
The burn would be reeeal slooow

Make America Grate Again

Don’t care whom it ravages:
this land was always Thine.
Circle wagons, shoot all savages,
and things are (once more) fine.
The Swaggarts, Bakkers and Miscaviges
will soon be judenrein.

For far too long we’ve been contrite.
The best of cleaners scours.
We’re gonna give them fight or flight
(for far too long, they’ve gotten flowers).
There’s nothing wrong with being white:
or claiming what is ours.

Remember when Strom Thurman ruled?
A time when men were men.
For decades we’ve been wrongly schooled:
the sword subdues the pen.
Though King and Evers had us fooled,
we don’t get fooled again.

America was always mean,
until we lost our way.
The atom bomb, the mud marine –
Pacific equals prey.
You’re eighteen? With an A-15
you’ll always get your way.

We don’t need Confucian.
We’ve got Roger Stone.
Disregard the Constitution –
we’ll do this on our own.
Clear Catullus? Lucid Lucian?
Our wisdom is home-grown.

We bow, but only to our owners:
faceless, taxless, they:
they’re so rich, they give us boners:
they never leave LA:
we worship them. They’re known as donors:
we gave the store away.

Premium MemberEver Yours

Mere repetition
With no meaning
As though romantically
Went on mechanically

It seems to be better than
A hypocritical canon
Wherein love corrodes
An atom bomb of lies explodes.

We no longer need this.
What remains is a mere kiss.
Why should the same jail-like cell
Continue like hell.

The End

The end is nigh
Said the sandwich board today
They've started to take humans dreams away
The dwarfax cells in the brain
Imminent Nostradamus
An old man muttering
The end will be so final this time.
The atom bomb sure
But as we watch
Measuring the seconds
Think of the hours spent without dreams by some
The dream maker
Will finish it now.

Plastic

It's strewn everywhere, garbage of plastic
bottles floating forever in the sea.
choking and burning, in stench so toxic
homo-sapiens ...how long will you be ?

Fishes flush out dead within plastic trash,
pouring out of pipes, into the river.
species are killed in million dollar bash,
but their lavish parties, will end never.

This burdened planet will shake us off soon.
Has it not buzzed the atom bomb alarm?
While grandeaur dreams flourish a rich tycoon,
wrapped in polythene, poor Earth on the harm.

Ocean and all air, have crossed danger line,
Yet plastic hearts...celebrate Valentine.

“Where is she?” Auntie asked. Not reading again, I hope.”
“She surely is,” her parents replied. “She is no kind of dope.”
“I want her to go out and play, travel, and make a friend.”
“Not right now,” her niece told her. “Not until I get to the end.”

“Why does she love it so?” her auntie asked, not understanding at all.
“She travels the world in her novels, she can be miniature or tall.
One day she is a pirate, the next day a giraffe or race car or an atom bomb.
We encourage it because it keeps her safe, and happy,” said her Mom.

Premium MemberPeople of Nagasaki

people of Nagasaki were living comfortable lives
most did not know what the giant bubble meant
august 9th, 1945 many did not take cover
not that cover would have done them a bit of good
some were fascinated at first, wondering what it was
not understanding it was the end of their world
an atom bomb dropped on many innocents
civilians - men women and children
shame on the instigators
against everything humanitarian, we have ever known

Premium MemberAn Escape Rocket In 1964

Fine November evening in 1964, when rocket ships were in vogue.
This one was no different, except it had been built by my family
As an escape device, in case the Cold War became a hot one.
We were afraid of Russia, of course. And the atom bomb.

A dragon sky of many hues winked in the distance;
She was blowing fire to the west, in the form of a sunset
Our red ruby rocket stood ready, in full launch mode.
All we had to do was add fuel and push the button.

Will we land in Saturn or Mars? We wondered. But Daddy was silent.
He said not to worry, but this was the sixties. People were assassinated.
The mist upon the turquoise lake gave me a feeling of calm.
Surely the Russians were not going to push the button tonight. Right?

Premium MemberThink Again

Think Again

I think of stuff all day
I think of stuff all night
Sometimes I think stupid
Sometimes I think bright
But I never think it wrong
Cos I am always right
At least that’s what the missus says
If we have a fight

I get ideas that turn out good
And some that turn out bad
Once I wrote a poem
That made me seem quite mad
I get all sorts of ideas
When it’s time for bed
No light bulb popped up ever
I think we’ve been misled

There’s never been a ‘Ping!’
As an idea hit my brain
No eyeball exclamation mark...
That would be insane
And if I ever find a cure
For a life that’s getting bleaker
I’ll take you on a bet...
I’ll never shout ‘EUREKA!’

But as a prosperous poet (yeah right)
Thoughts are my bread and butter
My notions come from angels hearts
And some from in the gutter
Sometimes when I cannot sleep
The thinking must be stopped
I lay awake to find a way
But the penny’s never dropped

Ideas float into my brain
But then sink like a brick
For each of Shakespeare’s sonnets
I write a limerick
One man designed a paper clip
And one an atom bomb
I guess we’ll never know
Where our deepest thoughts come from

Smart Heart

The smart heart's just a fable
that the mind will tell itself.
The real test's in the cherry blossoms
the atom bomb will pelf.

Premium MemberShe Was a Giant Terrific Mom

Was a giant terrific Mom
Had talents and habits galore
A natural mom to her core

The head of the family kingdom
Who took wise care of those she bore
Best of those who had gone before

Did not waste any time, my Mom
A simple soul, who knew life’s score
So many came to her front door

Did not believe in atom bomb
She wanted no one killed or sore
A peacemaker forevermore

Was a giant terrific Mom
The head of the family kingdom
Did not waste any time, my Mom
Did not believe in atom bomb
Peacemaker forevermore

Premium MemberA W O L

Now 'Absent without leave,' I know blood heirs cannot be more!
And yet they're not to blame nor is the fault that clearly mine.
When Cuba welcomed atom bomb, put Russians at our door
And lucky meant you don't survive; resigned I thought, "that's fine!"

To father any child (push life into the void) not fair!
It seemed to me Hell found the earth (but maybe I was wrong?)
In time (by luck?) things calmed, but parents died without son's heir,
Without a grandchild's smile or slightest chance of future song.

It's only now with thinning hair that I feel some regret,
My genes will die (no latent breath), though poems bear my name.
Perhaps some child will read a verse, and feel he's in my debt,
And smiling, wish his dad, "Godspeed!?" May God's Grace end my shame!
