the winter blues has a grip on me, all so tight
Its icy tentacles wrap around me and squeezes
freezing my fingers and toes with its nasty frostbite
staving off the cold is a battle, an endless fight
it brings forth an assortment of nasty diseases
The winter blues has a grip on me, all so tight
these grey days cloud over the sun, having no light
as the icy chill roam wherever it does pleases
freezing my fingers and toes with its nasty frostbite
my blood flows like a frozen berg of ice
and into my bones the air seeps, then freezes
the winter blues has a grip on me, all so tight
frozen raindrops form like dripping stalagmite
and the wind blows hard, never letting up or eases
freezing my fingers and toes with its nasty frostbite
thunder roars. then the dark sky ignites
distant are the summer days of warm breezes
The winter blues has a grip on me, all so tight
freezing my fingers and toes with its nasty frostbite
A basket full of apples,
an assortment of flavor.
Wide plethora to pick from,
maybe that is the problem.
This is far too much to ask,
a basket full of apples.
By nature not gluttonous,
decisions hard decisions.
Tart, candied, a bit of both.
Which bite will truly fill me?
A basket full of apples,
I only want to eat one.
Scent rolling off of the peel,
the spicy feel of autumn.
Cinnamon hot is my sweet,
a basket full of apples.
Somewhere over the rainbow
There’s elegant
Marvelous beauty
Center of hope
Yesterday’s moment with a tomorrow to tell
Assortment within the arc
A Soul crossing over
Rain that was diminished
Arc covering side to side
A wonder that it provides
Phenomenon at its best
Heaven’s own request
The sight full of delight
The Care, Observe and admire
Magnificent detail
A natural
God’s personal touch
Somewhere out there is a rainbow full of inspiration and encouragement for everyone
Rain cleanses and rainbow pleases.
The love song echoed
Among the picturesque hills.
They laughed despite their shrill voices.
Trees tremble as leaves fall.
Golden Autumn was approaching.
Still, all is fresh and alive.
Above, clouds rushed among the dark purple trees.
The whispering leaves, the humming breeze,
As large geese flew towards the south.
Yet robins would not be left behind.
Whilst Dunnocks used their song
As they asserted their dominance with their mates.
Yet suddenly, the sky darkens, threatening,
The two lovers ran toward their sleek car.
A timeless dance of pitter-patter
The rhythm of light raindrops gave them warmth,
They had prepared a delicious assortment of eatables.
Then switching up their radio,
Left the vale and drove into the broad thoroughfare
Towards their cosy and spacious house in the town.

Primal Properties
I look around at all the art I have collected
An assortment of inherited, home made and bought,
Ranging from African to Asian to Persian
With a smattering of European and American
In paintings and ceramics, carvings and weavings,
And the quality of primitive earthy energy
Is what strikes me most.
There is a refinement of technique in many
But it’s the primal essence
This technique is serviced to express,
The marriage of natural materials
And natural sensibilities
Through the transpersonal lens
Of a supernatural force
That defines it,
The definition being one of feeling/perception
More than verbalized thinking.
What is this irrepressible force
Our bodyminds create with these primal properties?
Life.

THE MAGIC OF NATURE
The sun shining so brightly,
Making your skin glow.
Even the silver sprinkle of frost sparkling,
A beautiful covering of snow.
Sounds of the morning songbird,
It's so wonderful to hear,
Flying so swiftly and free,
A joy to see, any day of the year!
Stunning abundance of fields full of flowers,
Such an assortment of colours,
I could walk there for hours.
Now get up and go to your front door,
Whether you feel happy, or your mood is grey,
Good for a walk in nature and explore.
And have a great day!
In a province exploited
by prejudiced seasons,
a minority ebony rose
is taunted by prominent
i v o r y l i l i e s.
Biased blossoms ridiculing
tones of its charcoal petals,
yet blooming in the same
quilt of soil as each other.
Soothing raindrops
never discriminate though,
as scents of petrichor
fuse with floret elegance,
nor does the sun only shine
for the privileged,
as all flora sunbathes in
the passions of its rays,
refreshed by the same
migrating gentle breeze.
Scarlet beetles
munch upon lily leaves,
whilst aphids suck
upon rose sepals.
Creepy crawlies
unconcerned with
a p p e a r a n c e,
massacre and spread
like an epidemic.
Until the arrival of
feathered immigrants,
who feast upon an
assortment of morsels.
In any garden,
birds care not for
whom they sing.
They defecate on all flowers,
aware all will wilt eventually.
Winter frost oppresses
regardless of culture,
so birds flee.
But, when roses crumble,
they re-emerge
fresher and brighter,
as their red thorns remain
protecting their right
to flourish freely under
fresh blue skies..

She found some mementoes stored in a box
before the new owners came to change the locks.
An assortment of items almost forgotten
now partly hidden under protective cotton.
The items were in her late husband's dresser;
reminders of the days when he tried to impress her.
Some old coins, a yellowed program, a dog-eared ticket;
her memories stirred and for just a minute
husband and wife were united, if only in spirit.
Two soulmates: one on earth, one up above,
linked by ephemera, but forever in love.
This man does weird things to his heart’s content,
wears odd sock pair, thinks it’s not indecent.
Likes to live life of contrast,
in assortment he has trust,
hopes mismatched socks become a style statement.
I saw a child
He seemed sober and mild.
An assortment of vegetables was before him.
The look of the cat near him seemed grim.
The child was not cooking.
Nor the green vegetables he was eating.
Was this a pose for a photo?
Was it just a fun motto?
Whatever it might be, he looked cute.

After a long week of school excitement builds for the movie we are going to see
My girlfriend awaits my arrival out on the grass
Trying to spare me from another lecture from her dad happy to pass
The gates open the big screen awaits
Feature film a love story surely to impress my date
Exiting the car into the cold night air
I return with an assortment of goodies for us to share
Horns start honking the speaker starts to vibrate
Trumpeting a night of fun I can hardly wait
Let the show begin as our bodies slide closer together
Another great night at the movies sure to remember
