CASH SCARCITY

Life changes in a twinkle of an eye;
Naira notes of low value seems high.

One billion naira in bank-: thousand birds in bush,
One thousand naira at hand-: billion get caught with a push.

It doesn't matter the FLOAT in your account,
What matters is the available handy amount.

It doesn't matter how much,
But the little one and its touch.

It doesn't matter if charges are bearable,
What such pains speak are unbearable.

It doesn't matter if you last five hours on queue-
What UNABLE TO DISPENSE cum turn subdue!

POS attendants are seen growing wings,
But they can't fly with MONEY PURCHASED stings.

Bankers hands are off the cause of scarcity,
Opposite CBN directives to circulate off adversity.

Blame should be on who for this loud whistle?
What's on everyone's wrists more than an epistle.

To traders selling cash to POS attendants,
Thanks for been such good assistants.

Living in the world of OPPOSITE at the moment...
Should not make the wrong people an atonement¡

Here’s To

Here’s to the doormen,
The porters, the waiters,
The plumbers, the cabbies,
The exterminators…

Here’s to the teachers,
The nannies, the nurses,
Performers and artists
And writers of verses…

Here’s to the athletes,
The mailmen, reporters,
The chefs and the police force
And climate supporters…

Here’s to the builders
And tour guides and cleaners
And research assistants
And medical screeners…

Here’s to repairmen
And bakers and drivers
And farmers and shepherds
And all of the strivers

Who put in the effort,
Most times, to the letter,
To help make our lives
(And their own) so much better.

A Little Train

Train, the train of my home, home of my heart, childhood, past
Past, yes, but lives. Hmm, yes, so good to travel here, and live
Live this air, this life, this feeling, this atmosphere, loved desire

I will come back again, I want to greet everybody here again
The people, the conductors and conductresses, and the neighbours
Shop assistants, waitresses, shops, pubs, and all the stations

All the roads, ways, trees, everything. Good to live in my living heart
This is the best feeling in this superb mind; this is not part of a country.
A country that is everything. Only one. Here is my mini farm. Live here

Live here, a secret mind. He has passed away, but he is always calling
Calling his memory my literature teacher, the grand soul of this land
Good to remember him, master of literature, hmm, why has he gone?

Little train, little train
Train of tales
From past
Help to live
Again
The
Lost
Friends
And past

Premium Member The Smile at the Shop Assistant

People. Shop Assistants too. Yes
I love them. I was a shop worker

Many years ago. Hmm. Nice time
Yes. This is a beautiful job. A style

Sometimes they are tired in the morning
I can understand them. I give them my smile

This is my style. Loving the people
They are reflecting on me. Hmm. Guys

Good to give happy feelings. Totally free
I am a lover. Of life. You love. Be kind

Mine
Get love

For
Smile

To
the
Shop Assistants

Hmm
I love them

don't talk,
you'll spoil it—
this version of me
I've been trying
to see as you—

don't say anything,
let's enjoy

our basic witch status,
excel in the practice
of angles—
let's remain
unsolvable
assistants in the craft.

sleights of hand,
close-up magic, all of it—
disappears
without
audience
participation.

Premium Member The Art of Illusion

Amazing crowds just like that

Pulling rabbits from a hat

Producing coins from your ear

Making tigers disappear

Doing card tricks for a laugh

Sawing assistants in half

It's abracadabra presto

Premium Member what is his name?

the older lady asked for help
she requested a gurney for her dog
two veterinary assistants went out
with a gurney

this dog must have weighed three hundred pounds
his body and head were enormous
he was strapped down in five places
wearing a muzzle

I was thinking, “Brutus, Goliath, or Samson”.
What is his name? The receptionist asked the older lady.
“Flower,” she replied.

PASS THE TRASH

Poem sure to sound familiar,
Catholic church scandal recall.
Pedophiles bounced just everywhere,
predator list … kept growing tall.

Clergy, priest but now teachers, are
problematic in school classes!
“Passing the Trash” school’s call this, some
schools blind … wear rose colored glasses?

“Pass Trash” numbers are sicking,
News mentioning five principals,
three assistants, two hundred and
ninety teachers … unthinkable!

Abusers hide in school systems,
best you check, your community.
Parents advised to document,
what child tells you … or what you see.

Documentation need, check see
something matches accusations.
Be diligent, keep abusers
away from our daughters … and sons.

Premium Member Come Float With Me

Come float with me
    I'm light as air
  Higher, ever higher I soar
You will too, if you dare

  Keep all your hair, and
    you needn't grow wings
  Make this your focus -
    Let your heart sing

  When all stress departs
    That's when we start
  A team of two assistants
    reimagining our existence

Premium Member Mister Monk Goes To the Dentist

Adrian Monk
was in a funk,

Till he got
assistants.

But this particular case
held him in a space,

With which he felt
resistance.

That I can't blame
I feel the same--

Phobia of everything
dental--

Can you, too, admit
while you had to sit,

To a dentist ever being
un-gentle?

Well, anywho,
before this is through,

You'll want to know: here's
what happened--

Anesthesia's effects
blurred the suspects

But despite tooth torture,
Monk tracked 'em!

They took a big model tooth--
Slammed it in front of a sleuth--

But the patient was all in a daze!

(Till big toothmarks seen on the body
Revealed something shoddy,

They thought he was just in a craze!)

But Monk proved Randy saw
dentists breaking the law.

--A murder mystery
planned--

This means, of course,
Lt. Disher's back on the force,

Giving up his rock band.

Premium Member Our Babies

They have the innocence of children.
Our certified nursing assistants love them.
Refer to them as "our “babies”.
Loving their childlike, eager, enthusiastic attitudes.
Nursing home magic, well-earned by the aged.

Premium Member What If the Scissors Got Angry

I start out by looking around the room
And thinking what if the clock ran down the stairs
Jumped out the window and landed on the calendar?

What if the scissors got angry with the crayons?
Would there be a massacre?
Would my muse name it?

My muse wakes up upon hearing her name.
She is persnickety and wants to change most of my words.
Adding way too may clever, fun, exciting, silly, wonderful delicious adjectives.

She has two assistants now - Pixie and Drixie,
And they jump in the fray…..
Pixie starts flipping the calendar pages and Drixie takes a hammer to the clock.

Trixie’s bad mood makes us all laugh.
She thinks she is head muse, but I have the weird idea that it is me.

Assignment

I spent my day shopping for rubies
Far East posting covert listing
Mr Patwari’s emporium
Assistants ever so obliging

Hexagonal set quaintly bulbous
does cheapen the overall effect
Disappointedly I turn aside
Mr Patwari, whose tone inflect

Secretly, soft whispers in my ear
Channels my movements in close quarter
Senses piqued my curiosity
Astute, knowledgeable exporter

Silk, flame red curtains wafted aside
Following, expectantly hopeful
Reveals vast interior workshop
He beckons, vocally boastful

Appraising the proffered brilliance
Rubies of every size mesmerised
Now questioningly, my eyes met his
Such rarity I identified

Sipping tea with Mr Patwari
Conviviality established
Revealed my subversive intentions
Slowly the smile on his face vanished

Drugged, stifling heat consumed
in disorientated stupor
Divested of my hat, shoes and purse
I retrieved my pocket computer

Bearings noted, in a concrete cell
Frantically, I connect display
Made contact and communicated
the district with all I could convey

Alerts Financial Action Task Force
Identified illegal rubies
Smuggling network last link confirmed
Rescued, resumes usual duties
