...day I used to think that death
could turn the flaws of life into its merits
like water into wine. As though breath
pursues breath out, death, I thought, inherits
a darkness of a dreamless sleep innate
to life. Alas, it soon became apparent
such nouns as "asphyxia" and "faint"
or, say, the adjectives "astray" and "errant" -
they do exist and their existence makes
the errant souls go astray and exit
wrong doors...
