Oh how I’m wishing that I were fishing!
I’d love to see the swishing that I’ve been missing.

find blue summer in the undulating
fans of the kelp forests’
kelly green
swirl aquamarine waters
lemon tangs and
silvery blue angelfish dart,
dive disappear in a cloud
of color near
fluffy white sand bottom
the jet black stingray floats
like a kite
ripples ruffles flips and fusses
stops abruptly to let the
sand grains settle over wings
burying all but two round pearly
black eyes
ever observant
en garde
sunny red and vivid yellow
clownfish mingle kiss and
swish within the caressing
tentacles of the purple sea
anemones their symbiosis
on display
lit by golden shafts of
sunlight stabbing thirty and
forty feet angled through
the feathery kelp limbs
amber seahorses buck and rock
with the ocean waves
and currents of deeper cooler
waters flowing like underwater
rivers through the warm
buoyant waters of the
colorful kelp
Corals in colors carefully
chosen by Poseidon for their
elements of smiles, giggles
and warm hardy laughter
sea cucumbers decorate
the sands surrounding
the bases of the
kelp as they reach stretching
up to 300 feet to the
tossed gyrus and
sulcus of the ocean
sea foam surface

dead in the ocean with a broken neck ~ a fledgling chick hits the deck

Turtle cruises the reef,
turquoise warm in the sun;
tendrils of coral stretch to
sup filtered light.
Butterflyfish and Tang
intermingle amid coral polyps,
that are plentiful appetizers
for this party.
As sponges get their rays,
a seahorse uncoils and jettisons itself
just overhead of a yawning mussel.
I giggle to myself as an angelfish kisses
my goggles and swim beneath the belly of turtle;
awed at the Crayola chroma essence
that delights my spirit.

Down under the sea it's frolic time free.
Fiddler crabs play jigs, lolling, lively lilts.
Cockles flap up to clang their symbols with glee.
Angelfish, halos askew, sing in kilts.
Octopuses play jazz in harmony.
Shrimps a dancing, rocking attune on stilts.
Anemones tentacles wave in surge,
as tide and current roll rhythms and submerge.

An ivory pearl rests gently upon her shell;
she feels the ease of the breeze upon water-
ripples of new beginnings are soft when
there’s beauty inside a clam.
The teal and tangerine coral plays with fleeting
fins, lost in sight as seahorses tenderly sway.
Angelfish dive with enthusiasm as the sea
otters play on mossy mounds of oceanic rock.
A kaleidoscope of crimson, cobalt and medallion
gleam through the mist-
for a jellyfish startles and all creatures bow.
So, I tarry along the pebbled shore of the ocean;
try to embrace how it must feel to have only
thoughts of the here and now.
An ivory pearl rests gently upon her shell---
I smile at the ocean and bid a fine farewell

A silo water casket scintillates glow
Green sea-weed blanket, bright red and yellow.
Pebbles and gravel, in a crystalline show.
Fizzing of bubbles the aquatic-air combo.
A vista of motion, flashes a rainbow.
A bunch of humans thrown, in the confined gizmo.
Dull green eyes, swim an ocean pseudo.
The drift of life, it's all real although.
The wriggle of fins, of the snooty goldfish.
The ripple of gills, of the elite angelfish.
The humble jellyfish, and the snail all sluggish.
The crabs and corals, the intricate gimmicks.
Each and every home marvels marine mimics.
Our penthouse aquarium of ornamental beauty
We all are sealed in our filial duty.
Unbreakable, shatterproof, cocktail glass of captivity...
Mundane activity, glows in endless sanguinity.
Then one day, motionless fish in sea..
will be flushed out, quarantined to liberty...
will swim across free ....the ocean of eternity.

A yellow-tailed angelfish
flashed his tail at me.
His shimmering skin was all aglow,
as he wiggled his fins and waved hello.

It’s said there are many fish in the sea
So which type of fish would you choose to be
The sharks and jellyfish I would avoid
Swimming with dolphins I’ve always enjoyed
Tropical river queens are angelfish
To mate with one of them, male species wish
All fish seem to evade barracuda
Even powerful, albacore tuna
But of all fish swimming in lakes and seas
There’s just one with humor that seeks to please
Clownfish perform an amusing sea dance
With host fish before they take residence
If given my choice, a clownfish I’d be
There’s no greater gift than laughter to me

warmth he once offered had vanished
only twisted words from his deceptive mouth
his eyes were empty
trying for years to restore his passion
where was the tenderness he once gave freely
apathy now abounded instead
he blamed me at first, so I bought new lingerie
got a manicure, pedicure and special hairdo
still, he said he felt nothing
after I left, I hired a sculptor
he chiseled a heart out of ice
metaphor for what he was missing
the heart was delivered to his door
he placed it in an ice bucket
went out to seek angelfish
many fish he caught that day, but no angels
when he brought them home
all had been spoiled
the frozen heart had melted, just as intended
but he never felt warmth inside again
sometimes what’s missing cannot be restored
