Devotion To the Ocean
An ivory pearl rests gently upon her shell;
she feels the ease of the breeze upon water-
ripples of new beginnings are soft when
there’s beauty inside a clam.
The teal and tangerine coral plays with fleeting
fins, lost in sight as seahorses tenderly sway.
Angelfish dive with enthusiasm as the sea
otters play on mossy mounds of oceanic rock.
A kaleidoscope of crimson, cobalt and medallion
gleam through the mist-
for a jellyfish startles and all creatures bow.
So, I tarry along the pebbled shore of the ocean;
try to embrace how it must feel to have only
thoughts of the here and now.
An ivory pearl rests gently upon her shell---
I smile at the ocean and bid a fine farewell
