I have pretty trees and ugly trees
The cottonwoods don’t make me sneeze
All the rest are horrible for me
Stirring up my leafy allergy

Allergic Reaction

When first invited
to The Land of Milk and Honey
where stars at night shone bright
and days there were always sunny
he demurred to go
Abraham was of a mind to politely decline
as wouldn't you know
he was lactose intolerant
and diabetic too so
the alleged Promised Land
would only guarantee
even more misery
but when he repented and relented
as his story unravels
more than 2,200 miles
by ox-cart he then travels
and tho' it's unsure if he found a cure
or the fire of his desire
to fulfill the dream which kept him alive
lo he lived to be an old soul of
one hundred and seventy five

Premium MemberLulu My Loony Cousin Is Allergic

I am allergic to greens, so none of that will do.
It is my persnickety picky-eating cousin, Lulu.
But surely you are not allergic to lettuce, I say.
Oh, yes, and green beans and peas. The radish can stay.

What about Brussel sprouts?
I am allergic to them too.
She says this with a lip that pouts.
My strange cousin Lulu.

What about celery, you are surely not allergic to that.
Oh, yes, I am, she says, and probably your dog and your cat.
Are you allergic to my husband? I ask, making a joke.
Most definitely and chicken and ham; they both make me choke.

My husband rolls his eyes but scoots off to his room.
Leaving me alone with our impossible guest. She is such a loon.
Can you have chocolate cake? I ask her, in the sweetest way.
That’s about all I eat, she tells me, so merry and gay.

And I bet you eat bread, I throw in, looking at her girth.
I have eaten all the bread I can between here and Perth.
I hear my husband snorting in the next room, next to the TV.
How much more transparent can that man try to be?

Premium MemberAllergic To Snow

Shudder at the mention of a freeze
living for an eighty degree breeze;
I never cared for the cold,
I am allergic to snow;
Forever swaying with palm trees.

I have
a thought
about an allergic love

you will surely contact it

Premium MemberMommy Is Allergic To Perfume

They come in with their hair dyed purple
To match their lavender dress.
Tops of their support hose showing
We kids laugh a bit about it.

If Daddy can reach us we might get a head tap.
Mommy cannot sit by these old ladies.
They no longer bathe, camouflaging their scent
By dunking themselves into a pool of fragrances.

Mom is allergic to all of them.
So where do they head?
Mommy jumps up and runs out coughing.
Why doesn’t she just tell them?

I do not remember the last time
She sat through a church service.
Yet here we sit, hearing her coughing from the back.
I want to tell them, but a look from my Daddy stops me.

I thought I would share what my daughter send me this morning. She has poetry on here but doesn't come on much anymore.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

April winds are magical
and thrill our tuneful frames.
The garden-walks are passional
To bachelors and dames.

My(Doris' poem) counter poem for the allergic and arthritic persons.

April winds are nemesis
and chill our achy frames.
Garden walks become treacherous
to aged and their flames.

Love,
Doris

Premium MemberAllergic To Washing Machines

My shoes are filthy
Frankly I am almost too busy to notice
Ha Ha Ha
Fooled no one
I noticed their angst two or three days ago
Choosing my time over their cleanliness
They need to be put into washing machine
But the couch and the chair refuse to help
And I am so over
doing laundry
I have an
allergy to
cooking and
cleaning now

Black Is Allergic To Black

As we unfold the sad stories untold,
Behold to observe all, our hearts hold.
Our soil is wet of blood of the bold.
I wish their talents could be dugout
Like platinum, diamond and gold.
Some were sold to die, yet not old...

Boredom is freedom with no kingdom
We're dethroned and lost like Sodom.
We forgot for which we stood for:
Drew a line that our fear had to repair,
So we for lack of trust in team despair.

Fine was all it went as a result of fight
We fought to be equally granted right.
Thine and mine eye made one in sight
Together our team couldn't fright, now
We retire in desire that fuels the fire
Of hope which construct blacks empire.

Black believes bury the poor blacks alive
Into one big-black-grave we take a dive,
Priests deceive innocent souls for wealth
The reason members struggle for health.

Allergic Interaction

Over long winter hours
Feeling angst about the enduring absence of a pleasant stasis,

The ninja like treachery of nature, camouflaged in the subtly sweet aroma of hyacinth and spring dew, sneaks past the awaiting anticipation of discomfort.

How long has it been since Nature’s sweet halter was again shown,
Torturing lost companions with its overbearing presence?

The relinquished thoughts and plans replaced. Uncomfertability, tension, and a sense of impuissance take hold of all decisions and actions.

A pill for such things causes more than dry mouth and hot flashes. The treatment has been known as the cause in many a heart’s aches and sudden collapses.

Pharmacopeia fails to vitiate the limerance of one’s soul for the unattainable warmth of spring’s wrath.
Once again, winter is preferred over possible allergic reactions.

I'M Allergic To My Mother-In-Law

I admit it, I'm allergic to my mother-in-law
She gives me hives and makes me sneeze
I've even been known to cough alot
And, sometimes, I might even wheeze

I mean it, that woman drives me crazy
My face distorts and I twitch
Even the smell of her stinky perfume
Will just always make me itch

Even if she calls me on the telephone
Her voice just drives me insane
Try to imagine a "moose on crack"
Then you'll understand my pain

That woman even thinks she's Hitler
She even has that silly mustache
And anytime I see her coming
Out the door I go, in a flash

Okay, I know you think I exaggerate
But I'm telling you, these are the facts
The woman is truly out to get me
I can tell by the way that she acts

Now you probably think this is funny
But remember the words that I've said
She'll be the only one laughing
When they find her son-in-law dead

Premium MemberAllergic Reaction To Happiness-W

Exploding coffee machines
Made me mad
Annoyed when neighbor’s
Dog barked
Thumping sound of the young couple
Making love rattling like animals
Irritated me
When somebody said good morning
It sucked life out of me
Margheritta without an egg yolk
Made me wild.
Only nephew of my billionaire aunt
had a windfall, when she died.
Good happens, troubles loom.
From one-bed flat to a huge house
missing my early dislikes
I want to chop down this
this overdose of happiness
Afraid to be happy.

Allergic

Blueberries
Strawberries
I can eat those
Dandelion
Flower pollen
My nose can tolerate those
I don't know why I am so inclined
to not be disturbed by these things that can cause pain and strife
but I found out today that I am allergic to things going right
