In Devon, Gina was mad at Sarah and so
Took Sarah's kitten, to the kitchen did go
Put it the microwave, pushed the button in
Kitten died in pain, I'd call that a sin.
Two teens in Juniata did the same as a prank
For them its fun, but to me it stank.
Is it something missing in the mind, or converse
A dark side that drives their morals in reverse?
Two teens in Alberta broke into a home, so brave
Smashed it up, put the cat in a microwave
Listened to it scream in pain before it died
Painted two mocking messages on the side.
Two teen girls in Maine put a cat - guess where:
They made a video on social media to share
Sharing cruelty is not very bright
Not every agrees that such deeds are right.
These humans got into trouble, because not all agree:
That fun with cats goes with humanity.
And yet, I eat animals every day
I put out mouse traps, throw dead mice away.
I guess the difference is that I don't want to cause pain
But some people do, though not clinically insane
Its part of the human condition that they are out there
Know your surroundings, take heed and take care.
There are times when nobody can save
You could be that cat in the microwave.
Ninety-ten looked clever, written neatly on a page.
Seventy-thirty smiled and quietly took the stage.
Lean in just enough to let love choose the way.
The sweetest kisses pause before they learn to stay.
No stopwatch counts the heartbeat hiding in the air.
No ruler knows the distance brave hearts choose to dare.
A peck becomes a promise if both smiles agrees.
Two laughing hearts rewrite the rules with ease.
The first kiss was never waiting on a chart—
It only knew the distance: heart-to-heart.
I didn't do what I did
the evidence is a fib
A victim of circumstance I be
need a dream team to set me free
Don't believe your lying eyes
things you saw are silly lies
Any video of guilt they shows
is just an AI fake we knows
Innocent as a newborn baby
ever do wrong a little maybe
But for this I did not do
those lying facts can't be true
Get me a jury just like me
and a woke judge that agrees
And send me millions for my defense
so I can live large at suckers expense
If no crime can do no time
set me free let me be
How can this sentence be for real
need more money for my appeal
Got to listen to what I said
I didn't do what I did
Feeling like I’m floating
Whole world soft and distant
Sinking into my blankets
While the morning stays persistent
Monday hits the door
My eyes aren’t open
Mind drifts off again
I keep hoping
Grey clouds spreading out
The sky won’t stop pouring
Streets talking loud
My mind keeps ignoring
The day says move
My soul says not yet
I’d rather stay in bed
Light up calm and reset
Cause the more you push
The less life agrees
Loosen your grip
You’ll get what you need
I could not stand cancer
promise you’ll POH me
my husband readily agrees
Alzheimer’s would be my worst nightmare
promise me you’ll POH me if I get this
He agrees
POH means Pillow Over the Head
for those of you who do not know
If I get Parkinson’s
He nods
then he picks up a pillow
“Was that a sniffle?”
I cannot stop laughing
All of my senses have been arrested
And captured and none has protested.
I see, hear, feel, taste, and smell
It's the season of life, show, and tell
It's the season shouting, "Resurrection!"
Pointing us all in the right direction.
It's the masterful lyrics of early Spring
She invades the season with life, and sings
Warming air, green grasses, and budding trees
Everything that breathes and beams life agrees
Oh, how I love her and the beauty she brings
Red roses, glowing in the sunlight without pain
White roses, shouting aloud without shame
Pink roses, so stunning and worthy of fame
Yellow roses, looking sweeter than sugar cane
Spring refreshes my life and keeps me sane
In our younger days we met for dinner;
Now it’s mainly lunch.
We needn’t rush; since we’re retired,
Time slots we don’t crunch.
We pack up meals we’ve ordered,
For we’ve barely eaten half
And when waiters ask, “Dessert or wine?”
We shake our heads and laugh.
We stop a stranger, asking if
He’ll snap our photo please.
He sees four senior citizens
So he, of course, agrees.
But what he cannot understand
(No reason that he should)
Is that, though we look old to him,
There is the likelihood
That we’ve lived through so many things
He’s only read about
And though he’ll have his own adventures,
There is little doubt
That we add up to so much more
Than what his pix reveal –
Four smiling alte kakers*
Clutching what’s left of our meal.
*a Yiddish expression meaning old farts
In this day and age of banning books
I’m grateful for all the books in the world…
every book from A to Z
and glad that there was one president
who totally agrees with me…
Lyndon Johnson understood the importance of books
and came to their defense…
When he said:
Books and ideas are the most effective weapons
against intolerance…and ignorance
She closes the curtains and smiles at me,
enchanting, bewitching and full of glee,
just once a year this time
cuddles me warm sublime
and agrees to watch same movie as me.
Sure, she’s a bit bawdy but loads of fun
at the old folk’s home, she makes men run
we other women like to see the males flee
then we can get prissy for afternoon tea
she scares me says an old coot named Jed
opinioned and bossy, agrees my cousin Ned
her ideas are outlandish said another male
Giggles waft out of the sunroom; we all love Gale.
What is it I seek, you ask?
Love … that dares to grow aside
Between two transformations,
Choosing to walk with each other
I long for something like this, do you?
What do I want, you ask?
Love… that grows old in peace,
where we break bread over every morning tea,
Definitely not the kind that grows apart in comfort
leaving you to a brink of thee; Don’t you ?
What do I hope, you ask?
Love that agrees to stand;
And doesn’t cease in dark
It shields while you grieve and re-build
I long for something like that, do you?
What do I wish, you ask?
Souls resurrect many times in one life
Real love stays in kindness and holds the space
Doesn’t shame, control or mold you,
And never leaving you to wander in a bond for two,
I wish this love upon you, I hope you do too!
The witch sits at the window looking out
Seeing nothing but her own self no doubt
Reflected in nature’s grass and trees
All she sees is only that with which
her proud sense of herself agrees
So she cannot interact with it
And if the world presses itself upon her face
She screams in horror as if attacked in disgrace
By swarms of insects ready to sting
This is how it is here with us with almost everything.
All the nothingness that ever was
Is shrivelled up into the void of non-being
A hole of empty self-righteous laws
Of arrogance and self-justification non-seeing
Existing as a thing but not alive as being.
And the difference between living being
And nothingness is infinite.
Everyone who believes
Not everyone who achieves and not
Everyone who agrees
The Gospel is clear
Break free because this is not the time to fear
The miracles in life will happen
The miracles in life are still happening
We look back and thank God
We look forward and trust God
The hammer of faith
Moves in stillness
An episode of brokenness
Brings forth the potency of faith
Sheltering pain
There is a way to gain
Faith still moves mountains
The hammer of faith
Moves in stillness
An episode of brokenness
Brings forth the potency of faith
Sheltering pain
There is a way to gain
Faith still moves mountains
Everyone who believes
Not everyone who achieves and not
Everyone who agrees
She beats for the moments when love stirs
A prayer, a promise, a purpose – praise
For the glory of a season, a song, rhythms
Glistening in each teardrop, each dream
Spiritual awakening, the meaning of life
The unending faith, the hope, the generous
Spirit of one who believes and agrees
Beyond the night, is the soul’s love breathed
For when I love from the heart, I love
Like I see the hand of God – in everything
Swindlers and charlatans
strut the world’s stage
Decent folk beat a hasty retreat
‘tis the era’s outrage
