Oldest of five brothers, I was the one who got away with everything. Spent thirty years as a Navy Reservist. People say I'm a little crazy. Thank God, normal people lead mundane lives. My greatest love is kids and I spend weekends working with abused kids with psychiatric problems almost always created by adult animals. I like music, mostly country and early rock. Married for forty years (my wife will be given the Medal of Honor) and have four kids, a 36 and 35 year old and two 23 year olds. The twins are a boy and girl. Including me, my wife has five. Got 5 grand kids. I'm big on amusement parks and would work for Mickey and Donald any day. I've seen a lot of the world (14 countries) and definitely miss the travelling with the Navy. I'm a firm believer in the power of prayer. I love this planet, so I'm going to stay awhile. I do believe war could be a necessity only in defense of your country and not as an excuse to prospect for oil. I believe that if there is any honesty or integrity in Washington, the guy is in the wrong city. People I most admire include Jimmy Carter, JFK and Billly Graham. I'm pro-life and anti- political correctness. I think the problem with political jokes is that most of them get elected.

<P>"I believe that banking institutions are <FONT color=#ff0000><U>more dangerous to our liberties</U></FONT><FONT color=#000000> than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."-- Thomas Jefferson (200 years ago)</FONT></P> <P>"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."-- Thomas Jefferson (200 years ago)</P> <P>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Prophet? Look at the banking instituions now and the corporate theives surrounding them, i.e., GM, Ford, Chrysler, AIG, just to name a few. Hopefully, under the new regime we'll see a sreamlining of government, and controls put on the major corporations. When greed overtakes common sense, the the free enterprise system need to be re-evaluated. What the CEO's of the major corporations have done is less legal than insider trading, it is outright piracy. They are protected by the politicians they purchased.&nbsp; </P> <P>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; This will be Obama's greatest challenge, getting Congress to back the change, as most of them are owned and operated by the major corporation's CEO's. The new President needs our prayers and our suppport if he is going to succeed. We need to vote out the old "status quo" members and elect new blood into our "do nothing" congress.&nbsp; If we are apathetic in our approach, we have stolen our children's future. God Bless America. God Bless our new President, Barack Obama. </P> <P>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</P>

Jimmy Carter and Billy Graham are two of my favorites. Ralph Nader and the late Pope John Paul and Mother Theresa are a few others.

Vince although I have been a republican for most of my life (mostly the abortion issue which I see your pro life in your Biography) I am so dissapointed in the Bush administration. These gas prices the monopolies these oil companies are involved in, Dick Cheney and Hailburton. Paying off these theives, Bank executives, NAFTA (North American Failed Trade Assiciation) my heart goes out to all American workers. I agree our Taxes are funding the banks that are creating our demise( bailing out) yes we need banks but help the people share the wealth fair trade policies level working ground for American workers. Government overspending illiminate cronyism. Our childrens future are at stake. I would not and did not vote for Bush this time. I also pray that President Obama has the courage to do what is right. So much to fix and clean up. Some one mention the Golden rule he who has the Gold rules. So true . Love your blog Vince respect your courage. GBU Michael Torres

I'm currently reading the Hemingses of Monticello so its interesting that I come upon your TJ quote ... he was quite the "prophet" in more ways than many ... anyway, Greed has been king for the last 8 years and hopefully things will change however, I have more hope that Obama will clean up the foreign picture than do anything to change the fat cats ... smile ... and, like you, I'll remain prayerful.

Obama needs our prayers, indeed! Daily. For wisdom, protection, guidance. He is our leader now, and we are under his authority. Hopefully he will be able to do what he has promised. Hopefully, he will be nobody's puppet. God bless each and every one of us, and, yes, God bless America! Thanks for this blog, Vince, and thank you for your service to our country. Sincerely, Donna G.

you sure write somw deep articles about everything that matters. Thomas Jefferson was of the most honorable presidents to ever become president. He predicted alot contradictions, and Eisenhower as well predicted alot of things as far as the army. Love this blog and have a great day.

Well written blog Vince that speaks to the direction that we need to go as a country. We do need new blood and a new direction. Hopefully this last cycle has created eyes that will no longer look the other way.

I for one could not agree more. I am a licensed broker for one of the now few and major brokerage houses. The corporate bigwigs most certainly are pirates here and everywhere and I feel it should be done away with for the same reasons you so mention. Very well expressed my friend. Michael

I agree Vince. You're absolutely right about getting rid of the "business as usual" congressmen. We need check and balances that work to keep the bankers and ceo's in line and legal. I will say I disagree that the Bush Administration created this aura surrounding Pres. Obama. I think this aura began when Mr. Obama spoke at the DNC for John Kerry and grew... I hope and pray that he finds the way through this mired and hazy mess he has inherited and can at least begin a major cleanup of the corruption that has stagnated and rotted the heart of Capitol Hill. As a nation I don't think we'll ever be fully united. I have admired the way the new Pres has carried himself since wining the election and has shown true class and dignity with the out going admin. To the bailouts, the gov't should NOT have gotten involved, history shows that won't work in the end, just prolong the inevitable. We do need to begin somewhere, I stand with you there. I just hope we made the right choice.

I, too, do not believe in the messiah type aura. I believe that was created by the Bush administration being so inept that the people are just looking for a, shall we say, "bail out." I also believe that if we remain divided and can't put aside petty differences to accomplish a common goal, we will fall. He will need all the help he can get and it won't come from a "business as usual" congressman. It willl have to be a unioted effort. The one bright spot so far is the young people are getting involved. If the apathy ends, we still have a chance. If the corporate greed continues we don't have a prayer. Prophet was meant for Thomas Jefferson. Those two quotes were made over 200 years ago. We now have big banks asking for working man money to keep operating due to overpaid bank preisidents and coroprations asking for working man money due to outright greed. It will take a long time to recover. We need to start somewhere.

All I can say about the new president is that expectations are so high, no man could reach them. The condition of our financial system show the truth in the old saying: GOLDEN RULE: He who has the gold makes the rules. It's going to get ALOT worse in America before it gets any better. I hope that this new administration does get something going to help pull us out of this mess and do what is necessary to prevent it from happening again, but in the same breath that I do not believe in this messiah type aura that has been created around the new president and that I have no faith in the mans abilities until he can demonstrate the contrary to me. I respect the office...but I will wait for a true and positive sign before I pass my judgement on the man and give my support.
