Whaler's Tale

Pray to the gods, a blessed exhale,
To grasp a current and set sail,
Kind winds may blow abound,
Upon briny crests crowned

windswept cotton shrouds,
Wisps of white whisper clouds
Vast azure like the seas,
Floating light upon the breeze.

Cast harpoons to the mighty whale,
Quickening again set sail.
To return to a lover true,
Before by chase she misses you.

Come hither crestfallen seamen,
Croons a beauteous siren demon
A parched sailor dance in her wake,
Endless waters but none to partake.

Sinking low to a barnacle bed,
Far-thee-well for a sailor's stead.
Waterlogged and weary bone,
Needless for engraved tombstone.

For he is but fodder to the seas.
Poseidon heeds no craven pleas.
Brave the waters as they sail,
To live again in a whaler's tale.
