Misdirected Anger

Nightmares, jungles, blood on hands Unjust war in distant lands Scars that no one else can see Memories doing battle with his sanity Off to war, a rich man’s fool Rich man’s son was off to school Some came home in boxes, statistics mount Media smiles announcing body count Working man’s sons without a voice Off to war without a choice Coming home to hate, the fire fanned Misdirected Anger in his native land Dismayed with the war, activists groups Pointing blame at the drafted troops So many dead through the bloody nights Protecting rubber trees and oil rights After the storm, there was no calm Soldiers coming home from Vietnam. Dedicate to Vietnam vets who served valiantly, unappreciated at home

There can't ever be enough tributes to the men and women who die fighting in wars. This is the least that can be done since governments don't seem to want to stop fighting? EXcellent tribute Vince. Light & Love

Vince, the Vietnam Vets really were treated unfairly. Instead of applause for their efforts, people booed them. That line about the media smiling as the body count was rising made me think of the song "Dirty Laundry" by Don Henley. Many are just as you describe, but I was a journalist for many years and had to cover some tragic events that left me in tears (the Challenger explosion was one). Thank you for speaking out on behalf of our Vietnam veterans. Love, Carolyn

yes it's a shame they came home and no mention of what they had done, this is a great honor for all that served over there, a great write.

A heart-felt dedication to these people, Vince. It's unfortunate for these soldiers that "After the storm, there was no calm". I can't remember much about that time, but I remember visuals of terrain and some of the people. My husband had worked with a retired person of the Green Baret. He drank to block out the images, but would get a glassy eyed hostile manner. So sad for these people...congratulations on paying them this tribute! Best to you and yours, Mikki
