Contest Description

Image result for moon on water

** The moon on the ocean is my favorite thing to look at, (other than the smiles of my kids), and I have literally been on the beach all night, (more than once), and watched the moon go from horizon-to-horizon, and not been remotely bored. This contest is of a similar appreciation. **

What to Submit?

ONE original, poem on the theme of "Water and Sky" ... this poem can be any form or length, old or new, but it must concern bodies of water and the night sky ... more specifically, a lake, river, stream, or ocean, and the moon, stars, or both. Please use grammar and spelling checkers if you have trouble with them, as points will be taken off for bad grammar and spelling .... those are the basics of all writing, and a proficiency in both should be the very LEAST a good poem contains. It STARTS from there ...

Please DO NOT put your name anywhere on your submission or it will be disqualified, and the date and title of the contest MUST be on the bottom. You ARE welcome to enter poems you have entered before, as long as it didn't place in a previous contest of mine. I judge BLIND and follow Poetry Soup guidelines, so please do not take it personally, though if you don't place and would like some critique following the contest, I will be happy to do so, or discuss the reasons I did not give it rank.

To ME, this site is about honing our craft and growing as poets, (as NO ONE here knows it all or has reached perfection), and that can't be done without discussion and honest critical analysis, though it should be done, as everything, with kindness. I do NOT allow masked attacks of other poets, mention of or allusion to infighting or complaints, or anything hateful or politically-motivated - anything containing such will be disqualified.

In my humble opinion, anyone who is here for any reason OTHER than poetry, should re-assess their motivations. Any questions, please Soup Mail me. I look forward to reading your entries!
