Is Parody Plagiarism - From Craig's Blog

I have just posted my poem 'Fidgety Cats And Feline Pets' which is a parody of 'Mad Dogs And Englishmen' by Sir Noel Coward. But is this Plagiarism because it copies the style and  significant words of the original? It is necessary that in, in parody, the original is reognisable. I have attributed my piece but parody is often not attributed, the original being recognisable. But is this Plagiarism?

Barry, I would always list who wrote it just to cover myself even though you are making it your own. The same goes with translations. At least that is my understanding. : )

Thank you, Connie. I would always attribute my work. I was thinking in the broader sense whether a Parody would stand in its own right without infringement of a copyright. // Barry
