My first poem was at 11 years old when 'My Dog Lady' died... It opened up a whole new world for me... And all my pets thru the years.

Thanks Laura. I came across it by accident. I must have been about six when I first read it. Barry

My mom would read nursery rhymes and insert her daughters' names into them. One I really liked (because I hated the Washington state rain): Rain, rain, go away Come again another day Little Andie wants to play and I always liked "see a penny pick it up, rest of the day you'll have good luck" To this day, I pick up pennies.

Sorry Andrea, that was meant for Ruben and I can't find how to delete it. I think it is a sweet idea to put your name into a nursery rhyme. I might try it with my grandchildren. Barry.

Thank you, Ruben. I have tried to search for this but nothing has come up. I don't know enough Spanish to be able to read in the original and I can't think of a similar rhyme in English. Thanks for your reply.

The first poem I can remember was in a book called "A Child's Garden of Verses" given to me for Christmas .... was "My Shadow" - by Robert Louis Stevenson. I still have the book in my keepsakes. The illustrations were as beautiful as the charming little poem :)
