It's been raining quite a lot here lately--very fitting as I judged my contest. Again, thank you very much who made it rain in my contest! I do admit I got disappointed with myself for imposing some silly rules, but I had to stick to my guns and turn on my wipers to those who didn't put in only the word "Rain" as a title, non-free verse writes, and those who didn't follow the 2-line rule comprised of 13 words. I did put a note in my updates. I'm really sorry, but again, thank you for entering!

My judging was done in several readings, but it was also quite evident for me who my top winners would be. Let's just say, they really stayed with me long after I read the other entries. I chose those that somehow put different angles on rain and petrichor. I finally, finally decided to select 10 (see, I am not that much of a toughie, arrgh) ...
I will keep my opinions here in the blog short---will just leave my comments on the individual poems later.
In 1st place is an intimately divine Wowser poem entitled "Rain"--Oops though-- I believe what happened in her contest results actually happened to her, too-- 1st place being prematurely revealed before the contest was finalized. Sorry for those who saw this, no more suspense! This was my top one from the get-go! Sorry a sorta cheesy, corny bug bit me, and felt compelled to add in some rain background for first place :)
In 2nd place is a hauntingly mysterious poem entitled...what,"Rain" too?! :)
In 3rd place is a truly intriguing and powerful poem entitled, "Rain" :)
In 4th place is a very engaging and wonderful poem entitled, you guessed it! "Rain" :)!

** in any case anybody wonders--- who the heck is Conner McDermott?! Ok that might not be the actual quote, but something along those lines that just stuck with me all these years. He is a fictional brooding, mysterious writer/musician whose character intrigued & fascinated me. Ok, ok he was actually my fictional crush way back when
