Premium Member A Triad of Tanka X: The Brooding Moorland

The brooding moorland

Is windswept and desolate...

And gives nothing back.

In this vast, hushed upper-land...

A very dreadful beauty!
-------------------------------------

Inside that wide void...

A resounding emptiness

Which fills the whole sky.

For never greater volume

With such solitude than here.
-------------------------------------

Strange, shrill calling birds

Above the rippling heather;

Their ragged shadows

Buoyed up on combing waves

Pushed out with each surge of wind.
--------------------------------------

sonnet X

they say it`s all the boomers and X`s fault-
into the wound they rub the salt.
we planted a seed and watched it bloom-
never expected any handouts upon a golden spoon.

we had to save real hard-
just to buy our very first car.
every day was lived hand to mouth-
to buy-and to furniture the house.

without technology we created our own fun-
and if it went wrong-we learnt by the outcome.
no words could ever tear us apart-
we didnt cry, didnt take anything to heart.

we learnt you had to earn respect-
and nothing was given or to expect.

Limericks X

This is a more serious limerick:

The Abandoned Child’s Complaint
by Michael R. Burch

I hoped you might have loved me,
but you pushed me out to sea
   like Moses, for some other
   strange Egyptian mother:
Isis, Nefertiti.

X-Ray

X-Ray
Seeing past the skin.
Everything is transparent.
Dark edges with azure bones.
Nothing is broken.
Portfolio is translucent.
A journey like no other.
A simple man just passing through.
Bones to the grave.
A new chapter awaits.
X-rays of the past.
With memories behind, you can fly at last.
A new body, a new spirit.
Inherit the clouds like oval garnets.
Melody at rest.
On air with balance.
A good life on earth.
Don’t weep for me in the dirt.
Up here there's no thirst.
