the solitude of a woodland walk is where my spirits are lifted

Where oaks speak their peace
And wildflowers smile with ease,

And pine scented nights sometimes grieve,
Where the forest walls are deep
And the moon so often preaches
Where melancholy cannot compete

Where I long to be, when the night seeps in
Offering its gentle relief,

Viking Warrior of Woodland

When the sun hangs low
by scarlet-threaded silk, 
you'll find my soul
waltzing in the womb of woodland
like a viking warrior, 
where I'm rooted ~ 
beyond decaying diamonds, 
as life unfolds a watercolor symphony
falling from the canopy of chrysanthemums, 
and I am more than 
those soft-blooded sins, 
surfing across satanic stars,
still aching to be cherished 
by azure-butterfly

my woodland raccoons

he rummages through my trash at night
scurrying off in mist of daybreak
I rarely catch his masked face,
but sometimes glimpse his striped tail

he brings the family, they scavenge together
slapping each other when a cracker is larger than another
I watch them and laugh, they are entertaining
my woodland raccoons

woodland sunflower

perky yellow woodland sunflower
you grew renegade at the side of my Kansas woods
against the backdrop of the forest, you look amazing
glowing in the colors of an August sun
you are reputed to be an invasive plant
welcome to my meadow, you bring me joy

MOODS IN NATURE A woodland walk

Beautiful sound of the birds singing,
The trees and flowers gently dancing and waving.
Plants magically growing from seeds,
Dark coloured bark and green leaves on the trees.
The sun glowing so brightl, 
A walk in the forest is such a delight,
Gentle breeze blowing through your hair,
So peaceful, you are glad to be there.

A Woodland Tale

A giant lived among the trees
a woodland home of oak and elm
of birch, of sycamore, a roof of leaves
but treelings bothered, pestered him
did run amok, did taunt and tease
play and run around his feet
did kick a shin, too tall his knees

Dull clouds are backdrop for another dreary day
Glancing around, he sets off on his daily walk

Barefoot in the woods of world
All marred by callous hands of time
This life devoured the heart itself
